A Jersey Affair by Georgina Troy 800x516 (2) USE THIS ONEWhat it’s about:

Jilted by the man she was expecting to marry, Paige Bingham, a shoe designer from Jersey, decides to enjoy her honeymoon-for-one in Sorrento. What she doesn’t expect is to meet a mysterious entrepreneur, Sebastian Fielding, when she gets to Italy. Sebastian helps soothe her faith in men and gradually the pain recedes from her battered heart, as he introduces her to the beautiful sites he knows and loves. Unfortunately, not long after Paige returns from her trip, she discovers that  not only is this handsome man’s company taking over the struggling store where her business is based, but that her concession is probably going to be surplus to his requirements.

How can Paige stop her fledgling shoe design business from falling apart? And what can she do to restore her reputation now that the newspapers have published their untruths about, A Jersey Affair.

Review:

I’m happy to be taking part in the blog tour for this book! This is the first of Georgina’s work I’ve read so was excited to see what it was like. Our main girl, Paige Bingham, after getting jilted at the alter by her fiancé Jeremy, decides to go on their honeymoon alone for a well deserved break. Whilst there, she meets Sebastian. He’s charming, good-looking and they get along extremely well and they enjoy many days in Sorrento together. However, Sebastian recognises Paige’s name from somewhere and when he realises where, their relationship, Paige’s life and business all take an unexpected turn. With worries of her own, can Paige forgive Sebastian for keeping the truth from her as well as keeping her business from falling apart?

Paige and Sebastian had a bizarre relationship at first, I couldn’t quite work it out but I liked how the truth unravelled and when it did, it really sucked because it put a complete downer on their relationship. It was great to read for us, the reader. Not so much for them. It was so frustrating because as much as you could tell the attraction and tension between them they were in such a predicament. I equally wanted Paige to kiss and slap him! They’re relationship was nicely paced however and I’m glad she didn’t give in to him too quickly. I really liked the relationship between all the characters, Paige and her sister Clem and Olly, Paige’s best friend and Clem’s boyfriend. I liked the link between them all and also very much liked the fact that there wasn’t too many characters to keep up with.

I loved the settings in this book. I’ve never had the chance to visit Jersey but it seems like a beautiful place. I also loved that a portion of the book is set in Italy at the beginning and again about two thirds of the way through. It was nice not to be stuck in the same place for the entire thing. A few more detailed descriptions of Italy would have been nice but overall, Georgina gives you a good sense of the atmosphere in these places. I absolutely flew through this book and at first I wasn’t even sure that it was the kind of thing I’d like but I was 100% wrong. I read 100 pages in one sitting and completely forgot to pee! The writing flowed exceptionally well and it was so easy to read and get stuck in to, I literally didn’t want it to end. The perfect kind of book for a lazy afternoon in the sun.
