The lovely Laura from She Loves To Read created this tag as a way to get to know other book bloggers a little bit better. We all know we like books but there’s obviously a lot more to all of us that that! I think this is a lovely idea and I hope this new tag goes a long way in helping us all learn more about each other, other than our shared love of books. Here are my answers to the questions Laura made up and who I tag to do this next!
Hmm, I’m not very good at these things because my facts are either really boring or paint me as a complete nut job! I’ve never had an operation in hospital (which is a good thing, I suppose!), I am terrified of toads – frogs I can handle because their small and dainty but big fat slimy toads make me want to cry (my eyes started watering just writing that!), I am an only child, I’ve been a bridesmaid 3 times and I’m a bit of a loner – I like spending time with myself.
2) When is your birthday?
My birthday is on 4th September. When I was in school it was always touch and go whether my birthday would fall on the first day back at school! It rarely did, thankfully. Whenever I had a birthday party in primary school it was always at the very end of the summer holidays so luckily most people were back from their holidays and could make it and it was always a nice end to the summer. I also share my birthday with Beyoncé.
3) What is your favourite colour?
I’ll be dammed if you haven’t guessed that by now! Pink, of course! Mostly light pink, I’m not a huge fan of bright pink. I love all pastel colours too like light green and blue. They all go really well together and my dream house when I’m older is decorated in pastel shades!
4) What is your favourite memory?
Oh heavens, there’s loads! I couldn’t possibly narrow it down to just 1. My teenage years, particularly from 13 until about 15/16 are fantastic memories – obviously not ever last bit of it but I had the best teenage years I could have hoped for. They really will stay with me forever and luckily I have a lot of photos to reminisce with. All the music gigs I’ve been too in the past are great memories too – that kind of ties in with what I just said but I went to loads when I was a teen including Green Day, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, You Me At Six, Kids in Glass Houses, Bullet for my Valentine, Trivium and Katy Perry. There’s a bit of a mix but there way no better feeling that being in a crowd belting out your favourite bands songs along with thousands of others.
5) Describe a day in your life
This is going to be really boring but usually, I get up, get changed, eat breakfast, brush teeth then go on the laptop and check all the social media sites I use, emails and my blog. Then I’ll make a start on some blog posts and anything else bloggy that I have to sort out including tour stuff. I’ll stop for lunch and usually watch something whilst I eat (the latest episode of Made in Chelsea for example!) Then I’ll finish off everything on my to-do list and get some reading done somewhere in between. After dinner I usually go round to Conor’s or he comes to mine. We sometimes go for a drive, go round to his mums, go to the driving range or take the dog out. Then I usually spend a few hours before bed listening to music or reading.
6) Name 5 of your favourite songs
Okay my first one has to be Pure Shores by All Saints. For those that don’t know, it was the song written for the film The Beach, which is my favourite film too. I love that song and it’s the most played on my iTunes by a mile. No Reason by Sum 41 because it just makes me wanna jump around and go crazy, Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden because I don’t even know why, Waking Up in Vegas by Katy Perry because why the hell not and finally Whatsername by Green Day because they’re my favourite band and I have to include them.
7) If you could only eat 1 thing for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
Oh Jesus, I love food. All food. Any food. But I think it’d have to be…. either Dominos Pizza or a Chinese Takeaway *drools* You can order lots of different things from both of those so I think that’s kind of cheating but if I was to only eat those for the rest of my life I wouldn’t live very long anyway!
8) What is something you really dislike?
Haha my list for this could honestly go on for pages. I honestly think I hate more than I like which doesn’t paint me in a very good light but you wanted to get to know me! I really dislike animal abuse. It doesn’t matter what animal, it really grinds my gears and makes me angry. I have so much respect and admiration for all the people involved in helping to stop it such as charities and those helping to raise awareness. Animals were on this planet before us, it’s their home not ours so what gives us the right to come marching it and destroying their habitat and treating them like they’re beneath us. I also hate people who don’t like The Walking Dead. Wtf is that all about?
9) Summer or Winter?
Hmmmm, neither actually! I like Spring and Autumn better because firstly, I’m not very good with heat, so I really struggle in the dead of summer. I also don’t like Christmas (these are things I probably should have mentioned above!) so Winter is a bit rubbish too. My hay fever is also really bad in the summer and I find I can’t breathe for weeks on end so I prefer the months just before and just after that!
10) If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live and why?
Oh God this is a really tough question because I don’t think I’ve been to enough places to be able to judge. There’s obviously loads of places I’d love to visit but because I haven’t been there yet it’s hard to determine whether I’d like to live there or not. I currently live in the UK, Essex to be exact and I hate it but I visited Wales a few months ago and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it is there so if we’re talking about the UK, I’d love to move to Wales. A cute little house in a small town near the sea or the mountains. I get bored pretty easily so if I had the whole world to chose from I don’t think I could pick just one place – I’d like to move around a lot and experience lots of different countries and appreciate all of them for what they are.
Ooooh I love a good film and there’s hundreds that I love but 5 that I love that little bit more has to be The Beach (based on the book and a shirtless Leonardo Dicaprio, what more could you want?), Fight Club, Peter Pan, Seven Psychopaths (this has only recently become one of my favourites because I watched it twice in 2 days, once with a friend who wanted to watch it and the next time with Conor who wanted to watch it but I fell in love with it more each time. It’s so funny with a fantastic cast) and I’m gonna pick a random one and say Donnie Darko. I haven’t watched that film in ages but I love it, it’s so creepy!
12) If you won the lottery what would you buy?
How many times have I dreamed of this? Firstly, I’d put some in my own personal savings, give some to my parents to help pay off any bills and give some to charity. Then with whatever’s left, I’d like to use to travel the world and see as much as possible and buy a nice little house somewhere to come home too.
13) Favourite day of the week?
I’ve always liked Tuesday and I don’t know why….
14) What 3 things would you take to a desert island with you?
Excluding the obvious like a boat, a map and a flare gun I’d probably take my iPod (providing I could charge it up, somewhere…), a person (any person – I just don’t think I could stick it being alone on a deserted island for too long, I’d go mad) and a book that I haven’t read before. A long one that’ll take up some time, maybe The Lord of the Rings.
15) Sweet or savoury?
Haha what a funny question. I think it has to be savoury. I’d much rather a great big chunk of meat than chocolate!
16) Early bird or night owl?
Night owl, definitely. I just can’t be arsed with anything in the morning and it’s often a struggle to get up when my alarm goes off… Even if I’m going out somewhere nice for the day I always want 5 more minutes asleep! I function much better in the night. I get more done, I’m up for doing more in general and I can have better conversations with people too as opposed to in the morning/daytime.
17) Name 5 of your favourite books
The Beach by Alex Garland, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson-Walker, Death of
