The Book Blogger Test Tag

I’ve been tagged by TheYANightstand and Sky’s Book Corner to do the ‘Book Blogger Test’ tag, thanks ladies! Here are my answers…

What are your top three book hates?

Ooh, they’d have to be 1) Spoilers – nobody likes a spoil sport 2) Sappy, whiny and unlikeable heroines who can’t stand up for themselves and rely on everyone else to get them out of trouble and 3) Couples in books who get married after they’ve known each other for 10 minutes.

Describe your perfect reading spot.


 I would normally say my bed but lately I’m just finding too many distractions in my room like the internet, the TV, tidying up etc. so as it’s summer and occasionally sunny out, I’ve migrated to the back garden, which I find a much nicer spot for reading when it’s just you, a book and the sky.

Tell us three book confessions.


 1) I love erotica and I’m not ashamed to say it! It’s not dirty, it’s not disgusting, it’s not filth, it’s just another genre. Just like Thriller or YA or Chick-lit. 2) I love books that make me cry – absolutely love them. There isn’t a more powerful feeling than breaking down into tears for these made up characters which you’ve come to know and love and 3) I don’t really like romance unless it’s a rom-com or has some sort of erotica in it – they just make me cringe.

When was the last time you cried while reading a book?


The last book I cried at was One Hundred Proposals by Holly Martin – despite it not being sad, I was just so happy and overcome with joy for that book and those characters I just burst into tears at the end!

What is your favorite snack while you’re reading?


 I don’t really snack while I’m reading. If I’m hungry, I’ll stop reading, go and eat, then come back to the book. I’m not talented enough to focus on both things at once.

 Name three books you would recommend to everyone.

 The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – I’ve literally only just finished it and I knew from the first 100 pages or so that this was going to be one of the best books I’ve ever read. Again, One Hundred Proposals by Holly Martin annnnnnnd I’ll go with The Perks of Being a Wallflower, cos it’s one of my all-time faves.

What is your biggest reading secret?

 I don’t mind cracked covers/spines or pages that have been folded over. Heck, it wouldn’t even bother me if the pages were falling out which I know all of which is a huge deal to a lot of other book lovers and I can see why, really I can but to me, I like the feel of my books being used. I re-read The Perks of Being a Wallflower a short time ago and the pages were scrunched up (like it’d gotten wet) and I folded the corners of all the pages with my favourite quotes on so I could write them down later. By the end it looked well a truly used and it was such a nice feeling. This is why I don’t mine buying second hand books from Amazon because 1) They’re normally cheaper and 2) I like the feeling that someone else has enjoyed it before I did.
