I really love doing fun and personal posts every now and again and I recently stumbled upon Gabriella’s video about ’10 things she would save in a fire‘. This video was intended to be done as a video ‘tag’ but as you’re well aware that I definitely, 100% do not do YouTube I decided to make it into a blog post instead! But credit to Gabby for creating the tag in the first place and you can find her video here. I really enjoyed doing this and thinking of the items I would save; it really makes you realise what is sentimental to you and what isn’t and I was surprised by some of my choices. So let’s assume every human in my house is clever enough to get out themselves, with everything left, here’s the 10 things I would save If my house was on fire *but touch wood it won’t be*.

1 & 2: My dog (Rory) & Brown Teddy

Of course my dog would be the first thing I would save if, for arguments sake, he hadn’t got out already. I would like to think my dog is clever enough to run away from fire but seriously, who knows with him. I don’t know what I’d do without my dog so he would be number one priority on my list. Coming in at a solid number 2 is my teddy, Brown Teddy. His name is in fact, Brown Teddy because I was ever the imaginative child but I love this bloody teddy so much; my granddad gave him to my mum when she was in the hospital with me – he was sitting on a little table with a Vitamin D T-shirt on, promoting something or another when my granddad pinched him and voila, he was mine. He has quite literally come all over the world with me from Tenerife, Spain, France, Disneyland. He’s a well travelled bear.

3 & 4: My nan’s necklace & The Book Thief

From 3 until 10 aren’t going to be in any particular order now, as my dog and Teddy were my priorities, everything else will just be a grab and run job. Next is a necklace that belonged to my nan. She didn’t give it to me personally, I think my mum had it and told me it was my nan’s so I wore it quite a bit when I was a teenager but I just know it belonged to her and it would be a nice thing to keep and have a part of her with me. I would also save my copy of The Book Thief. Now, I could have quite easily used up my remaining 8 spaces with all my favourite books but I decided against it and just grabbed my absolute favourite of them all, which is The Book Thief. I also love the irony of the fact that I’m saving it from a fire when the Nazi’s regularly burn books in fire’s during the story.

5 & 6: Peter Pan canvas and Pride & Prejudice paper rose

Now these are going to be kinda sappy (well, one of them is) and I’m not a fan of sap so I’ll keep it short and sweet. The Peter Pan canvas was a gift from my boyfriend one Christmas and I wouldn’t save it necessarily because it’s from him, it’s just so, so beautiful. It’s really big and it’s exceptionally detailed and it’s so magical. The rose was one of the first things my boyfriend ever bought me, it’s made from pages of a Pride and Prejudice book. Although neither of us have read the book or seen the film (and probably never will, to be honest!), I would save it because of it’s sentimental value to me.

7 & 8: Nico Rosberg helmet replica & Disney books

If you follow me on Twitter you will know I love my formula 1 and I would definitely save my half-scale Nico Rosberg helmet replica because it was the first Formula 1 “thing”, I ever got bought. My boyfriend surprised me with this as well for my birthday, during my first full and “proper” year of following the sport when Nico was driving and he was my favourite driver. The books are a set of 4 very old Disney books, with all the old classics in them with illustrations. These were my mum’s when she was younger, I don’t know who gave them to her but she’s given them to me and for that reason – and also the fact that they’re Disney, they would 100% be getting saved.

9 & 10: Scrapbook & The Chronicles of Narnia

Similarly to the Disney books, these Chronicles of Narnia books were also my mum’s when she was little. They are her favourite ever books and these copies are so old and sun-worn but I love them and have always kept them on my shelf. I’ve only read the 1st and 2nd one myself but the books themselves hold a lot of value to me. Last thing I would save is this big scrapbook that my best friend Lynsey made me with photos and jokes and personal things in it. It obviously took a lot of time and effort and I love it because it’s not really anything other than “memories” and that’s what I love about it.
