I love cake. I mean, who doesn’t? Cake is the best. You know what’s even cooler than simply a cake? A cake that comes straight through your letterbox! I wasn’t convinced anyone could create a product so perfect that you could literally get cake delivered to your door and you wouldn’t have to get up out of bed to receive it. How wrong was I? Baker Days offer just that; the infamous letterbox cake. And it literally is what it says on the tin. And what’s in the tin is oh so yummy…

bakerdays  is a brand I’ve wanted to work with for over a year and my chance came at such the perfect time as it was my boyfriend’s birthday at the beginning of the month so I thought I would treat him to his own letterbox cake, with a design and a flavour I knew he would love. First of all, the PR people at bakerdays are bloody brilliant, they scheduled the delivery in advance for a date I would want it, it arrived on time, well packaged with zero damage and quite rightly… through my letterbox. So before I’ve even opened the box, I’m hugely impressed.

I chose a Formula 1 racing car cake with “Happy birthday Carl” on the front. My boyfriend is a huge Formula 1 fan so there was no other option for me really but I liked the design although it was probably designed for younger people in mind, age is just a number isn’t it! I loved that it came in a little tin, which could be quite easily used again with your own baking – the tin also protected it massively during posting. They also included some candles and balloons within the package, which was cute!

The cake itself was small, as expected with it coming through a letterbox but I think that’s a really nice touch for a little treat for someone. They’re a great price and although the cake is small, you can still get a decent amount of slices out of it! The icing was proper birthday cake icing, like you remember from being a child. Thick, sugary marzipan which is brilliant if you love that – which both me and my boyfriend do! You can also choose the sponge flavour, which I liked and I went for chocolate chip. I can confirm there were chocolate chips and they were very yummy.

The letterbox cake idea is fantastic, I think it’s a really cute and unique idea which is handy for people who might not be with their loved one on a special day or occasion but still wants to help celebrate and maybe go for something a bit different to just a card. They have so many different designs to choose from as well and so many different occasions; birthdays, Christmas, weddings, males, females and even photo upload so you can personalise your cake even further than the writing. I’d highly recommend the letterbox cake and if you hang about, you can find out how to win one of your own!

  1. This sounds like the best idea ever. I would love for someone to send me a cake if they couldn’t see me on my birthday etc, it would be sooooo cute. My favourite cake is red velvet, so sweet and naughty but worth every bite.

  2. Letterbox cake? This is the craziest and most wonderful thing i’ve ever heard of.

My favourite flavour… right now i’m craving coffee and walnut with a coffee flavoured buttercream. It’s my birthday soon and for that i usually end up with the most wonderful and magical syrup sponge and custard – that certainly can’t be beaten!!

  3. I have heard of this box before! I would love to get a cake in my letterbox! I would eat it all by myself ahah! xx corinne

  4. Now that is cruel asking for only ONE favourite! But if I have to pick I will probably go with carrot cake. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Have a lovely day sweetie and thanks for the giveaway. xx
