Autumn is upon us! Technically, it started on Friday 22nd September in the UK (also my mum’s birthday) so it’s socially acceptable to embrace all the Autumn tings now we’re officially in the season. Although what’s the betting we get a heat-wave now? But anyway, it’s the season for all us basic bitches (absolutely nothing wrong with being a basic bitch) to come out of our shells and to flood the blogoverse with pumpkins , fairy-lights and candles galore. Here’s my own basic-ass list of things you can do to fully embrace the most wonderful season of all.

  1. Write some Autumn themed blog content! I have a whole list of ideas here
  2. Make an Autumn Pinterest board
  3. Write an Autumn bucket list
  4. Treat yourself to a new fluffy blanket / jumper
  5. Experiment with different types of tea, to keep you warm when it starts getting cold!
  6. Make DIY Autumn home décor
  7. Deep clean your house / bedroom / desk to mark the start of a new season
  8. Write down your goals for the rest of the year
  9. Perfect a hearty, comfort food recipe
  10. Organise a cute movie night for a chilly evening
  11. Sort out your wardrobe; give some old summer clothes to charity and bring forward your colder wear
  12. Try something with pumpkin in it
  13. Go out for afternoon tea
  14. Create an Autumn reading list
  15. Start a new hobby
  16. Carve a pumpkin
  17. Dig out all your candles
  18. Go on a chilly, morning walk and step on crunchy leaves
  19. Experiment with a new craft; painting, flower pressing or knitting?
  20. Watch some fireworks with loved ones
  21. Buy a homeless person a warm meal / cup of tea or donate tins to a food bank
  22. Start preparing your Christmas shopping list / presents
  23. Go conker collecting
  24. Treat a loved one to a new pair of fluffy socks to keep their feet warm
  25. Make a hot chocolate with all the trimmings
  26. Invest in new lip care to take care of your lips in the cold weather
  27. Just take a moment to sit and embrace the change of season

Do you have anything to add to this list? What are your plans for Autumn? Are you a fan of Autumn?

  1. […] I adore Autumn and everything about it. Including bonfire night and fireworks. I’ve always had such a fascination for fireworks and that time around bonfire night has always been one of my favourite times of year. To me, it signifies a time to get together with family or friends, let go of the year so far and just enjoy each others company whilst watching the magic that fireworks bring to the sky. But of course, for pets, this time of year can be hugely detrimental. […]

  6. Autumn is the best ! I tried cooking a pumpkin quiche last year, and it was DELICIOUS. Perfect autumn dish !
Autumnal pinterest boards are simply the most beautiful thing ever! I love scrolling through them, especially since the trees in Malta are mostly evergreen !

  7. I love all of these ideas! I definitely want to do some more autumnal cooking this year. I’m a big fan of vegetables and hearty stews and autumn seems to be the perfect season. This year I want to branch out a little from my carrots and potatoes! I definitely need to make more pumpkin-flavoured foods and get properly into the spirit. And not food-related, I definitely want to organise a cosy movie night! Candles, fairy lights and soft halloween stories would be ideal.

  8. Hi, love this list, yes to buying a new jumper, getting out those candles and trying those teas designed for the colder months. I even walked through the leaves today and kicked them around me, love it 😊🍃🍂🍁.

  9. I love literally everything you’ve got on this list!! Autumn is 100% my favorite season of all time, and I look forward to the decor, the general coziness, and the nicer weather all year long!! Perfecting a comfort food recipe is top of my list for this autumn, especially if I can find a good one for a crockpot!

      1. It is the beginning of spring here now. Both transitional seasons bring this city out in the best colours.
In terms of literature I love autumn as it is my warmest emotional season. Open fireplaces and the accompanying smells and fragrances

  11. This is such a fab post, how have I not started an Autumn Pinterest board yet? Last year we carved a cat pumpkin with stick on ears and whiskers so definitely going to do that again! And yessssssss to hot chocolate 🍵 xx
