It is January. That month that we literally just had like, 3 weeks ago. It is January… again. First of all, I want to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year! I hope the end of 2017 saw you out well, whatever the year was like for you and I hope you’re feeling positive and enthusiastic about the year to come! I certainly am. Despite the end of the year being a bit meh and uneventful for me, 2017 as a whole wasn’t bad. I wrote about my highlights of the year here and I really can’t complain too much. But as always when a new year rolls around, I’m feeling motivated and inspired to tackle some brand new goals. But this year, I’m not going to set myself huge, unrealistic and un-achieveable goals for the entire year, I want to take it one month at a time. So here are my goals for January!

1. Read 4 books: Starting off nice a simple and easy, I want to read 4 books this month (full length books, not short stories). I’m a pretty slow reader so a book a week would be a nice little accomplishment for me.

2. Donate some money to an animal charity: I decided on this one one day in November after scrolling through Facebook for literally a minute and seeing over 5 articles about animal abuse. It really upset me, so I’m hoping to give whatever I feasibly can to an animal charity this month. If you have any suggestions of good charities, leave them in the comments!

3. Eat a vegetarian diet 2 days a week for the month: In 2017, I definitely tried to cut out meat more than I have ever done in the past and had a fair few vegetarian days. I’m not ready to take the full step yet but I want to try and do what I can to contribute and 2 days meat free a week is much better than none!

4. Blog every day in January: I started my January content back in November, so I thought it might be a good time to tackle a post-a-day challenge again, being as I was so ahead with posts. Hope you enjoy them!

5. Save a certain amount of money: I’m obviously not going to say how much I’m hoping to hit in my savings by the end of the month but I have a number in mind which I’m going to try very hard to achieve, especially after spending so much over Christmas!

6. Hit 8.3k on Twitter: At the time of writing (November 11th to be precise) I have 7.9k. I’m hoping to hit 8k by the end of the year so hopefully 8.3k by the end of January is perfectly doable!

7. Sort out my YouTube: I don’t have a YouTube channel, nor do I plan to start one but I very much enjoy watching YouTuber’s. However… over the last year, my subscription box and my “watch later” list has gotten out of hand. There’s so many videos on there which aren’t relevant to me anymore and so many others I want to watch but haven’t gotten around to. So by the end of January, I want a nice, clean YouTube!

8. Go for a massage: In my 2018 self-care goals post, I said I wanted to go for regular massages as a part of my self-care routine. So I’ll definitely be booking myself in for one (maybe 2!) this month to kick off the New Year.

What are your goals for January? Anything you want to achieve now a new year is upon us? How did 2017 treat you and what do you want to gain from 2018? Leave me a comment and let’s chat!

  1. First of all, happy 2018! And I think it’s safe to say you’ve smashed your Twitter goal already, yay! In terms of animal charities, are there any dog charities you could donate to (I’m all about cats so I don’t know about dog charities) or if not, what about donating to your favourite zoo? Lovely goals here, Jenny, I hope you achieve them all by the end of January X

  2. I love these goals – I hope you can achieve them! My goals for the month are to not spend money unnecessarily and apply for every job I am remotely interested in. It’s about time I did something with my degree.

  3. Great goals! I donate monthly to Cats Protection, as well as Born Free now thanks to yourself and Danielle. I think it’s so important to help animals – as they can’t help themselves.

    1. Danielle is like the animal whisperer! I wouldn’t have known about Born Free if it wasn’t for her. And I totally agree, I still need to find a charity I really care about to donate to! Maybe Battersea Cats and Dogs Home?

  4. Best of luck with the vegetarian diet, if you ever need any tips just message me! Happy new year

  5. I have just signed up to GoodReads 2018 challenge to push myself reading. My best friend can read super fast, like a book in 1-2 days. Is mental. I am really slow as tend to read before bed and am already tired. Massages are so relaxing, I need to do this more too. I had a hot wax one which the next day I was so energetic and had a clear head. Happy New Year xx

  6. Good luck with your goals! I’m trying to read more this year too and I have an informal target of a book a week. I really want to get back in the habit of reading a little bit every day because it’s so easy to get distracted by Netflix or YouTube these days instead! I love the feeling of accomplishment when you finish a good book and I have so many sitting on my shelf ready to be opened

  7. What a great post. I share the goal to read 4 books this month. I always write these posts about which books I’m going to read and I always fail. I’m such a slow reader too but I’m determined to read as much as I can this year x

    1. I’m a slow reader too and it’s so important not to compare yourself to other bloggers who are reading like 20 books a week! That’s my downfall as I always feel like I’m failing when I’m not! xxx

  8. These are some great goals Jenny! I always aim to read more whenever I can however I am the complete opposite and tend to go through books so fast, I can get through a good book in about 2 hours! It makes reading so difficult actually as I have to pick up a fair few to keep me going! Self-care is definitely one of my goals next year, so good luck with all of yours honey! Have a lovely year!

    1. Goodness me teach me your ways! That’s amazing. I can rarely read a LOT of a book in one sitting. Unless it’s something extraordinary and I can probably count on one hand the books I’ve been able to do that with. It’s nothing against the book like even if I LOVE it, I just can’t read a lot in one go ugh! I hope 2018 is wonderful to you! xxx

  9. These are great goals: really realistic! The massage idea sounds lovely – reading this has made me realise that I need some self-care in my goals because I’m very good at not giving myself enough time/care/attention that I should change that. It’s a great idea to have monthly goals instead of a yearly one!

Good luck with posting every day!!

  10. Holy moly, one post a day for an entire month. Wow, good luck with that!!!
I like how wide-spread your goals are, and how they all seem manageable instead of grand plans one gives up on after two days or so (you know, except for those posts…).
I would love to organise my Youtube too; I’m so annoyed you can’t sort subscriptions into topics or anything.
Have a great 2018, and good luck with everything!

    1. Omg same! Apart from making a playlist they’re all just stuck on that one, unmanageable list. I have 230 videos to get through and in fact that’s the one goal on here I’m actually worried about haha! xxx

  11. Happy New Year! I’m pushing for a lot of health goals, especially hitting the gym and drinking more water. I’m also trying to stick to a daily blogging schedule — we just launched a few days ago, so I want to put a lot of good content out there. But I’m not going to stress about it too much if I miss a day.

    1. They sound like great goals (: and definitely not stressing about a schedule sounds good too. Maybe aim for X amount of posts a week? That gives you a bit of leeway for change. Good luck on your blog! xxx

  12. Such a wide range of goals! My watch later is also in triple figures right now and ‘needs sorting’. I love that you’re wanting to try going veggie a couple of days a week too. It’s a great start. Good luck achieving everything and happy new year! x

  13. A massage is an absolutely brilliant 2018 goal to have, I could do with one myself! We often forget about self care and giving ourselves some time for R&R when we write goal posts, so thank you for that important reminder that taking care of yourself is so important! Best of luck with your veggie meals, I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do! If you need recipe ideas, hit me up!

  14. All these goals are great and I am sure you’ll nail them all! reading more is on my list too but other than that i don’t really have goals; Maybe save money too! xx corinne

  15. Wow those are some really cool goals! I would love to get a massage one day as I’ve never had one, and I’ve been thinking of cutting down on meat too so I might give it a go one time this year!

Happy New Year and good luck with your January goals 😊

  16. Happy new year angel <3 All these goals are totally achievable, and I too, hope to reduce my meat intake as well as donate more to charity!

  17. Happy New Year! I like goals like this that are split up into each month instead of unrealistic goals for the whole year. Saying that I have made goals for the whole year but I think they’re realistic. Good luck with your January goals. I made a little goal for this month it’s to practice self-care enough to not have any bad MH days. ♡

    1. Practicing self care is so incredibly important! That is always in the back of my mind really to just take care of ME! Hope you manage it (: if you do have a bad MH day, don’t beat yourself up xxx

  18. These are great goals Jenny! 💖 I think vegetarian meals are usually healthier so this is a really good idea! I’m looking forward to read your post a day in January! ☺️ Hope you reach all your goals and have a fantastic 2018! 🥂💕✨ xx

    1. Thanks lovely! I LOVE veggie meals – there’s tons of Tesco veggie stuff that I adore. I’m about to have a halloumi and tomato roll (looks like a spring roll from the Chinese but bigger) for lunch and they’re beaut! Happy new year 😘 xxx

  19. I can relate to being a slow reader. 😂 I’ll also do my best to read more this year. I like your idea about the animal charity. I think I’ll do the same this year. Happy New Year! 💕

  20. Happy New Year!
I like the idea of setting smaller monthly goals. I imagine that makes it so much easier to keep them and actually remember them (generally I’ve already forgotten my New Year’s goals by February, which is why I’ve only made three this year!).
Best of luck with all your goals and have a great January 🙂

  21. Happy New Year Jenny! I loved your goals, it seems much better than having a single goal over the year by just having goals for the month. I hope that 2018/January treats you well!

  22. my new years resolution was to read a lot more in 2018 as well, i love reading but so often it takes a back seat to social media/ tv. so im cutting down on both of the above and really trying to read again.

all up for a regular massage too, thats such a lovely idea, might steal that one from you….

wishing you all the best for 2018, lovely!

  23. I need to do a few of these goals as well ! I’d like to read some more of my ARCs, four would be good. They don’t have a time limit, but I need to get them done. Also a message would be great for my mom and I, we both would love that. Blogging more is always good, but I’m not going to promise everyday. Lol

    Happy New Year hon 💜

  24. Brilliant goals Jenny! I did chuckle to myself as I set myself a goal to read a book a month.. and when I read yours was 4 I almost spat my tea out! Total inspiration there my love. Such a great idea about the veggie diet 2 days a week, I thought about going veggie but I cant just cut it out so I am going to give that a go too!! Happy new year and I hope 2018 is amazing one for you xxxxxxx

    1. I think every little helps in regards to the veggie thing. Even 2 meat free days a week is better than none. Or maybe try it in different areas like make up or beauty products? (: 4 so isn’t many to so many bloggers I know though that’s the funny thing! xxx
