I really, really, really love crisps. Like, love them. I eat an awful lot of them. Probably more than I should but I’m all for eating what you want and I certainly don’t buy into fad diets that tell you eating crisps is a ‘syn’. You’re not going to hell for eating crisps just fucking eat them. However, I am all for trying different crisp options and if that’s a healthier crisp option, that’s cool too! I’m just a huge lover of food in general; healthy or un-healthy and I love trying and experimenting with different flavours. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a vegetable or something from McDonald’s I haven’t tried before.

Last year, I hosted a wonderful post from Off the Eaten Path and in return for helping out on such short notice, I was sent some Off the Eaten Path snacks as a thank you. Despite it taking 3 times to actually get them to me, I finally received them and could tuck in. I’ve never tried any of these before, nor had I heard of them before hosting that post and I’ve also never been one for vegetable crisps. So all in all, I shouldn’t really like them. Wronggggggggg. Boring stuff out the way first, these are available in Sainsburys, Ocado and WHSmiths, have no artificial colours or preservatives and are made with real vegetables. Now onto the good stuff.

First of all, I absolutely love the packaging. It’s so interesting and vibrant and instantly caught my attention! The first box I tried was the Pea & Pinto Sticks in Caramelised Onion and Balsamic Vinegar flavour. These were definitely my favourite of the two and I would have never known these were made from vegetables – had I not known already. If that makes sense? They are so full of flavour and soooo moorish. It was a once you pop you can’t stop job with these.

The second box was the Rice & Pea Chips in Sour Cream and Black Pepper flavour and these reminded me a bit of healthier version of the savoury Snack’a’Jacks. But again, they were full of flavour – I personally could really taste the sour cream because I eat enough sour cream as it is so I’m pretty accustomed to what it tastes like. I felt these tasted “healthier” but were also very yummy.

If you want solid evidence of how good these are, both boxes were gone in less than 6 hours. I had about 6 crisps overall and the rest of my family annihilated the rest. So if you’re planning on picking any of these up on your next shop, stock up! Because they won’t last long. I absolutely loved Off the Eaten Path and they seem like a wonderfully ethical brand so next time my mum or I are in Sainsbury’s I’ll definitely be looking to pick some more up!

Have you ever tried these? What did you think? Which of the flavours above would you prefer? What are your other favourite healthier crisp options? Let me know!

  1. These look bloomin’ delicious! As a fellow sour cream fan, those would be the ones I’d find very hard to resist. I really like the packaging too! So unique and eye-catching!

  3. The packaging alone would be enough to get me to stop and look at them in the supermarket, how pretty and original. I love flavours like sour cream and onion, so I think I will definitely have to nibble these.

  4. I haven’t heard of this brand before but the crisps look yummy and just that bit different to the norm. I really like vegetable crisps so the next time I’m in Sainsburys (which will be tomorrow) I shall look out for them – thank you for the recommendation! X

  5. I agree with you on the pea and pinto sticks, they’re my favorite too! Me and my old manager used to snack off these all the time at work and they’re so yummy! Also have you tried quinoa puffs? They’re an exact match for quavers which I love! Also another good alternative is Hippeas, there are quite a few flavours but these are just like wotsits! I’m all for finding healthy alternatives because crisps are my downfall x

  6. I think the Pea & Pinto Sticks are something I could try. I never really though anything could be as nice as normal crisps but lately I have been eating hummus crisps and they are so good. They have opened my eyes to other healthy crisps alternatives out there.
