At the beginning of January, I set myself a goal to read 4 books this month. I know, not a lot compared to all y’all hard-core readers out there but I vowed I wouldn’t set myself any unrealistic and unreachable goals this year. So far, I haven’t. I completed my 4 books goal – actually exceeded it! I have reviewed all of them in full but I wanted to do a little round-up today so I can keep track and look back and be like yassssss, slayed it. You know what I mean. I’m also thrilled to look at this post and see lots of different types of books and genres. I’ve certainly not just stuck to my favourite genres this month and by doing so, have found some really wonderful books. So anyway, on with the post!
How to Disappear by Sharon Huss Roat
I really enjoyed How to Disappear and I’ve seen a lot about this one on social media. I love a YA, especially a YA about Mental Health, coming of age, growing up – that sort of thing. You can find my full review of this one here! It gave me a lot to think about and made me question by own “online portrayal” of myself.
The House Swap by Rebecca Fleet
The House Swap was an absolute banger. It’s going to be a Thriller to look out for this year, if you like that genre! It kept me completely hooked, it was so easy to read and I couldn’t put it down. The perfect way to start the new year and oh, it’s the authors debut! So I’m super excited to see what else the author has up her sleeve. Review for this one coming closer to publication day in May.
Life to the Limit – my autobiography by Jenson Button
If you know me, you know I love Formula 1. I’ve read and reviewed Mark Webber’s autobiography and also Damon Hill’s. This year, it was Jenson Button’s turn, after receiving a copy of his new autobiography Life to the Limit for Christmas. If you like F1 and liked Jenson when he was racing, this is an absolute must-read for you! You can read my full review here.
The Last Laugh by Tracy Bloom
I kinda read this one on a whim – it wasn’t on my TBR but I saw it had been put on NetGalley and liked the sound of it so I requested. It’s my first Tracy Bloom but certainly won’t be my last. Right from the get-go I knew I was going to love this book but I also knew it would be one of those books that really make you think, get in your head and make you question your own life. It certainly did that. You can find my full review here.
Six Foot Six by Kit De Waal
I always feel like I’m cheating when I read short stories or novellas, especially if I have a monthly reading goal but at the end of the day, they’re books. Just short ones. And if they make an impact then they certainly count and this one really did. A really sweet read which worked perfectly as a short story! Review for this one coming 1st February!
The Beach Wedding by Dorothy Koomson
I love a Dorothy Koomson novel – she’s been a firm favourite writer of mine for a good few years and when I saw she had a book in the Quick Reads collection this year, I had to pick that one to review. I haven’t really started this one yet (I’m about 7 pages in so can’t give an opinion) but this will probably be my last full read of this month. So anything I start after this will be included in next months ‘what I read’. I’ll also have a review for Dorothy’s book in February too!

You’re welcome! If you’re into YA I’d highly recommend xxx
A wonderful list! Swap looks great, I will have to add it to my list. Last year I set myself a very unrealistic reading goal. So this year I’m much more relaxed about it 😊
Haha that’s great to hear! xxx
I haven’t read any of these and I’m not typically a fan of YA as a genre but for some reason How to Disappear is really jumping out at me here. I might have to add this to my ‘to read’ list for this year (which seems to grow without being reduced so far this year) x

I love love LOVE that mug you have in your photo! Also, that’s quite a bit of books to have read in a month – I can’t remember the last time I read more than two in a month, haha.
Thank you! It’s so cute isn’t it xxx
Ohh these all sound great! Thanks for sharing these. I set myself a goal of 3 books this month (not a lot I know) but I’m trying to get back into reading!
3 books is a great goal if you’re trying to get back into reading (: xx
I guess so! xx
Oh my goodness! I’m seriously impressed … I’ve read one book and one book only! It’s called The Sober Diaries and I simply couldn’t put it down and since then, I’ve now ditched the alcohol …. crikey! Some books just change your life, right? Happy reading 😀😀
Haha wow sounds like it made quite an impression on you xx
It sure did!
Four books in a month is an absolutely amazing achievement, especially the ability to read them on top of other commitments! And reading short stories/anthologies definitely isn’t cheating – they still contain important messages and count as important reading, regardless of their length 🙂
You’re absolutely right! I guess I’m too ambitious haha! xxx
I haven’t read any of these books yet but I really want to read How to Disappear by Sharon Huss Roat. I will check out your review of the book!
It’s a fab book! xxx

Oooh 50, that’s a big target! I set myself 30 last year and didn’t manage it but I’ve also really wanted to up my reading so I set it at 35 this year (after my boyfriend encouraged me too) and I’m doing well so far. Sounds like you’re right on track too!! xxx
