I’ve seen this A-Z of me post scattered around the blogosphere quite a lot recently; and I’m not surprised. It’s a lovely, simple post to let people know a little more about you. I pinched the idea off of Fraser’s Fun House (who’s blog is fantastic, hint hint mummy and lifestyle bloggers, go and check it out!) and thought it would be a good idea to do as my follower count has grown substantially since the last time I did any sort of “get to know me” or “facts about me” type post which have been lost in the ether by now. So, let’s get going. A-Z of me and please excuse any of these which are ridiculous because chances are I couldn’t think of anything beginning with that letter.
Anxiety: Something I’ve been dealing with for a good 7+ years now, anxiety is a part of who I am (unfortunately) but it’s a learning curve, I’m still working on it (and myself) and I like to think I’ve put my blog to good use in terms of talking about anxiety and being open and honest about mental health.
Books: My one true love. There would be something wrong with me if I didn’t include books on this list. My first hobby which I’ve carried through into adulthood and build a blog and a business around it. I’ll never not be amazed at the magic of a book.
Carl: My other love. Suppose I had to mention Carl on here didn’t I? We’ve been together for just over 3 years now and he’s taught me a heck of a lot and opened my eyes to a lot of things I weren’t aware of before. My hobbies and interests have been enriched because of him.
Disney: The thing that will always make me feel at home. I’ve always loved Disney since I was a kid and again, I carried that into adulthood as well. I honestly don’t think anyone is too old for Disney, the movies, the songs and the messages carried within them.
Eating: I love food. I think food is a huge aspect of my life and although I don’t really cook that much (although I would love to start doing so more) I’m always interested in food, trying new food, watching things about food and of course, thinking about food. Quite a lot.
Formula 1: One of those things I said that Carl has introduced me to? Formula 1 is one of them. I’ve only been following Formula 1 for about 3 years now but I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without it now. It has completely consumed me.
Green Day: I will always have a soft spot for Green Day in my heart. The first rock band I really liked, the first “proper” concert I ever went to, on the hottest day of the year in 2006 with my parents and my best friend at the time when we were 12. Listening to them always sends me into a state of nostalgia.
Hay Fever: The bane of my life every summer. I’ve had hay fever since I was a kid and I thought it might have eased a bit by now but no such luck. I often have weeks in the summer where I can’t breathe or barely get out of bed because I have such a bad sinus headache from it. And don’t mention the itchiness!
Introvert: I would say I’m quite an introvert. I like hanging out with people, I like knowing there’s people “there” you know but I work really well on my own (lucky I’m my own boss then!) and I’m so much more productive if I’m just in my room, on my own with my laptop and my music on and no one else around.
Jewelry: I’m not massive on jewelry but there are some items which I always wear and never, ever take off. I have a sterling silver necklace with the infinity symbol on it which is really special to me. I also wear two rings on the middle finger of my left hand; one is gold with my initials and the other has small diamonds in it. These never come off. I also have my ears pierced 6 times so I love my earrings, I have a nose piercing and my belly button pierced.
Kalms: I have been taking the herbal remedy Kalms for years now, since being diagnosed with anxiety. I never went on medication for my anxiety because I really didn’t want to but I wanted that little ‘something’. So I tried herbal remedies and I’ve really liked them. I find the Kalms tablets and Bach’s Rescue Remedy really takes the edge off sometimes. Whether it’s a placebo, I don’t know but I don’t really care!
Linda: Think I’ve got to give my mum a mention here. She’s the one that got me into books when I was little so I will always have that to thank her for. Along with well, basically everything else. She’s taught me a lot and I bloody love my mum. Getting a bit emosh here, onto the next one.
Music: I know I’ve already mentioned Green Day but music in general needs to be on here because music has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve seen so many bands / artists live that I’ve lost count and music can really, really help me in whatever I’m dealing with. I don’t have a favourite band or artist or genre because I like to listen to anything from Disney soundtracks to Heavy Metal to Indie to Pop!
Neverland Blog Tours: My business, which I started from scratch in 2014 which I would never have if it wasn’t for books and blogging. I offer promotional services for authors and each year, my business has gone from strength to strength. I’m so proud of myself for everything I’ve achieved with it and I’ll continue to work hard and grow it.
Over Emotional: I can get really, really emotional sometimes. It’s kinda a blessing and a curse. It’s nice that I’m able to feel things deeply but there’s a limit you know? I’m very sentimental and philosophical and sheesh. This got deep. I cry a lot, okay?
PlayStation: My number 1 guilty pleasure is playing old school PlayStation 1 games. Spyro the Dragon is my absolute favourite and it’s actually the only way I can sufficiently switch off sometimes. But I do love playing newer games. I’m a big fan of scary / horror type games and I absolutely love Until Dawn.
Quiet: Sometimes, I really need everything and everyone to be quiet. I love the quiet and I relish in it sometimes – especially if there’s been noise around me for a long time.
Rory: My lovely little doggie. I couldn’t complete this list without him. He’s a half Westie, half Bichon (we think), we got him in 2011 from a friend of a friend who needed to get rid of him. They didn’t even want any money for him! So he came home with us and he is firmly the man of the house. I didn’t realise how much I could love an animal!
Sleep: I bloody love sleep! I can tend to get to sleep anywhere and although I’m not a particularly deep sleeper (I wake up soooo many times each night) I love getting all cosy in bed.
TV Shows: I’m going to class all “shows” – whether they were on the TV or Netflix Originals under the umbrella because I am a huge lover of shows. Probably more so than movies; because I love being invested in the characters for longer. I have so many favoruites and am always up for a re-watch of them. Orphan Black, Grace and Frankie, Orange is the New Black, Prison Break, One Tree Hill – there’s so many I’ve probably forgotten too!
Underwear: I wear it… just like most people. Sorry, I really couldn’t think of anything for this one!
Very Organised: I am a very organised person and it definitely makes up a huge part of who I am. I’m a firm Type A personality, I love lists and folders and I hate feeling out of control with my life and the different elements in it. I love deadlines, I love working ahead of schedule and agh, I love being organised!
Winter: My favourite month, I bloody love the cold. I’m not a fan of heat and summer at all, it makes me feel anxious and ill so as soon as the colder months hit, I thrive. Nothing beats going for a nice walk with the dog in the freezing cold, loads of tea and hearty food like stew and dumplings!
X: Clutching at straws a bit here but I’m going to consider this one as “ex”. I’m still good friends with my ex and my boyfriend and I often hang out with him and his lovely girlfriend and we have a lot of fun having games nights and getting takeaways. So yeah, a relationship in my life that didn’t end horribly and I still treasure a lot.
Yoga: I’m so glad I’m into Yoga otherwise I would have struggled trying to think of something for Y! But luckily I am and Yoga is now a huge part of my life. I started dabbling in Yoga when I was first diagnosed with anxiety but didn’t think much of it. But over the last year or so, I’ve really taken it up properly again, for all the benefits – health, fitness, flexibility and mentally. It’s really changed my life.
Zoos: Controversial for some but I really love going to the zoo. Of course, I only go to zoo’s that I know are good but going to the zoo is something I’ve always done. My parents used to take me when I was little and I find going to a zoo really calming. I could watch the animals for hours and hours.
