I’m most certainly not a travel blogger: I don’t go on nowhere near enough holidays or trips for that to be a reality unfortunately. As much as I wish I could book a dozen small getaways a year, that’s not realistic for me… And probably for a lot of other people too. However, over the last few months I have thoroughly enjoyed talking about holiday type things a bit more. I recently wrote a post about what holidays mean to me and I have a post coming up next month about my favourite Disneyland Paris attractions. These are a nice addition to my blog, I absolutely love writing them and it’s always lovely to look back on wonderful holidays you’ve taken. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do today! I’m dipping my toes in the nostalgia pond today and talking about some of my favourite holidays; both near and far.

Also, apologies for the quality of some of these photos. Some were taken way before a decent camera ever entered my hand!

France (skiing)

I went to the La Plagne with my school in year 11 for a skiing trip and it’s a holiday I will always, always remember. It was my first (and at present, only) foray into skiing but I absolutely loved it and would love to go back again, on my own, so I had a bit more freedom than what I did have when I was with my school. Skiing is a wonderful sport and past-time. The mountains are beautiful and you could really, really lose yourself in them.

Disneyland Paris

I think France is going to feature quite heavily in this post (I’ve been 6 times overall!) but if you know me at all, you’ll know that Disneyland Paris was going to be mentioned in my favourite holidays post. I’m not going to waffle too much about this one because earlier in the month, I wrote an entire blog post about what Disney means to me, where I mention Disneyland Paris. It’s my happy place. I can’t wait to go back.

Gran Caneria

Gran Caneria was the first Canary Island I visited with my parents. When I was around 10+ we had one big family holiday a year, in the summer holidays when I wasn’t at school. Our first destination was Spain, the second was Majorca but then we visited Gran Caneria and for the following 3 years, The Canary Islands were our destination of choice. I think they’re an amazing selection of islands and I have really fond memories of my holidays there. Suited for families, couples or groups of friends you can find some Holiday Gems to Gran Caneria on the Holiday Gems website.

The Lake District

Getting a bit closer to home now, I’m a huge, huge, huge lover of the staycation and UK holidays are some of my favourites. I haven’t actually been abroad for a good few years now but I don’t feel like I’ve missed out at all due to all the gorgeous destinations I’ve been to in the UK. One of my favourite of these trips was The Lake District where we stayed in a gorgeous bungalow overlooking the Solway Firth into Scotland. We visited the lakes, went to the zoo, a farm, went on a boat ride. It was just a really lovely holiday.

France (Paris)

I’ve visited Paris twice, again with my school (I really loved school, in case you couldn’t tell!) and again, it’s somewhere I’d love to go back on my own. But oh the culture. Oh the culture. The beauty that is Paris. It truly is beautiful and I don’t tend to like cities (I like 20 minutes from London but bloody hate the place) but Paris is phenomenal. I’m yet to experience a true romantic break in Paris though…

I’m going to have to leave this post here otherwise it’ll be far too long. I’ve been on so many amazing holidays and trips with so many amazing people, it’s really hard to narrow down. I think deep down, they all mean so much to me that I’ll never be able to truly pick a favourite. They’ve all been incredible experiences which have left me with lasting memories – just what holidays are supposed to do!

What are some of the best holidays you’ve been on?

  1. I can’t wait to read your Disneyland Paris post! As an Orlando local I spend a lot of time at Walt Disney World but Disneyland Paris is top of my list of Disney parks to visit!

  2. Wow your Gran Canaria pics look beautiful! I also am dying to go to the Lake District! Especially with a beautiful view like the one you described – would be amazing to cosy up on the sofa with a tea and a book and that view; there’s something lovely about a staycation!
    Lovely post

  3. I went to Paris (including a couple of days in Disneyland) almost 11 years ago now, when I was 13 but I definitely think I’d appreciate it a lot more now that I’m older and would love it go again! My favourite holidays destinations have been Devon (we always used to go when I was a child and still love going back now), New York & Chicago! xo

  4. I’d love to go to all of these places. I went to Paris a couple of years ago and it was definitely not enough time. I’d love to go skiing in France, although I’m not a skier 😀 I’ll have to learn!

  5. I’ve been to Disneyland Paris but would love to go to a few other places you have mentioned here.

  6. You’re right, it is lovely to look back on previous holidays ☺️ I’d definitely consider doing something similar! I think my best holiday memory is my first visit to Spain when I was 9! We actually ended up moving there! 😂 x

  7. Some of our best holidays have been since we’ve had Flora (sappy as that sounds). So Menorca, Turkey, Cyprus. We’re going to Lanzarote in May and she’s so excited about it already. I think having a child makes us do more too, we can’t just lie around all day soaking up the sun because she gets bored. So although I wouldn’t call our holidays especially relaxing these days, they are fun! x

  8. We’ve literally been on all the same holidays! I remember our chat about Gran Canaria and loving it! Of course I did Disneyland Paris last year which was out of this world!

  9. I would love to go to La Pagne. I just love snowy places. I haven’t been on a holiday in a while, but the need to do some serious traveling has been building up in me for a while.
