I think you’ll agree with me when I say the ‘cosy night in‘ the new ‘big night out‘. I’ve been championing the ‘night in‘ since I hit my 20’s when I realised I’d much rather be in my fleecy pyjama bottoms, eating a pizza and watching my favourite shows rather than getting pushed and shoved around in a hot, crowded club where your shoes get stuck to the floor amiright? Why would you when in this age of technology we’re in now, there’s so much going for the night in. Food can be ordered on our phone at the push of a button (or 12, if you’re me ordering from the Domino’s website and want all of the sides) and our favourite movies and shows can be watched on TV’s such as the 4KTV Panasonic in such high quality we may as well be at the cinema.
So now we’ve established I’m a serial ‘night inner‘, let’s talk about shows. I bloody love a good TV show. I think I prefer a series to a movie because I just love being able to get to know even more about the characters, seeing them change and evolve over a period of what is sometimes years over the course of the seasons! I don’t think there’s anything better than finding a good series and being completely engrossed. So let me hit you with some of what I think are totally binge-worthy series you can enjoy on your next night in!
Santa Clarita Diet
If you haven’t heard of Santa Clarita Diet by now, where have you been? This has been my latest binge watch, I’m gutted I’ve finished it and I’m already eagerly awaiting season 3. Not my normal sort of series but it’s light-hearted, Drew Barrymore is phenomenal and it’s totally binge-worthy!
Orphan Black
Orphan Black blew me away when I watched it for the first time last year. I was hooked, almost instantly. It’s such a unique and unusual series with an outstanding main actress who will amaze you time and time again in each episode. A binge-worthy series for sure.
The Sinner
The Sinner took the world by storm when it was released last year. Jessica Biel is absolutely amazing and this series will have you hooked from the first 10 minutes. There’s plenty of twists and turns and will certainly leave you gasping! The Sinner took absolutely no time at all to watch!
One Tree Hill
Ah, One Tree Hill will always hold a special place in my heart for binge-worthy series. I’ve seen One Tree Hill more times than I can even remember but each and every time it feels like I’m coming home to a series and characters I know I can trust. A perfect season for a cosy night in with friends!
Desperate Housewives
Desperate Housewives is another series that I think is great for a cosy night in with girl friends. It’s array of colourful characters will leave you wanting more and more with the end of each episode! I’ve binge watched this series on my own and I’ve binge watched it with my Mum.
How To Get Away With Murder
Another series which is on the very top of my all-time favourites, How To Get Away With Murder is, quite frankly, outstanding. If you want a series with a fierce female lead, this is the one for you. With a shock in every single episode, How To Get Away With Murder knows how to keep you coming back for more.
What are some of your favourite binge-worthy series? Any recommendations? Have you seen any of these and what did you think? Let me know!

Love your list of tv shows. Huge TV Nerd over here, lol. Yes, to all the crazy amazing that is Santa Clarita Diet. Definitely one of my favorite Netflix original series. Drew Barrymore is so perfect in this TV gem. Orphan Black is another fave of mine. Tatiana Maslany played the lead on that show and what an amazing actress. I mean, just so incredibly talented. Was so happy when she finally won an Emmy for the many characters she played on the show. I really like The Sinner also. Although, I did read the book first and the book and the show are like completely different. I really liked the book, and I did like the show but there were sooooo many changes that I find it a little distracting at times. Looking forward to season two though. Carrie Coon is going to be on the show and she was amazing on HBO’s The Leftovers. So the show is definitely in good hands.
I’m currently watching the Vampire diaries which I can’t get enough of and I’m
thinking of restarting Supernatural.
Ah I couldn’t get into TVD unfortunately!
I’m currently rewatching Gilmore Girls, it’s so nostalgic and I love the characters so much! I’m also a huge fan of HTGAWM!

Isn’t it BRILLIANT
everyone is raving about the santa clarita diet.. i need to watch it!
It’s literally so good!
Omg I love How to Get Away with Murder and I definitely binge watched that haha! Can’t wait for the next season to be on Netflix. I’ll definitely check out the other shows you have mentioned. I also love Friends and The Good Witch.
Isn’t it bloody brilliant!
I loved The Sinner!! I haven’t seen any other the others bar a few seasons of Desperate Housewives. My top 3 shows are Love/Hate, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones.
The Sinner was SO good
I have never seen any of those titles, but must give them a watch and see if they’re worth the hype! I love watching a good documentary by Louis Theroux if I’m having a night-in (I’m a serial night-inner too!) and learning something new.
Amy | hookedonthemusic.com
WHAT! Well I’d obviously highly recommend any of them, depending on what sorta thing you’re into 🙂
I’m so much like you – I used to go out all the time when I was at uni but now I’m in my mid-20s I can’t handle my drink or the hangovers anymore haha so I much prefer a night in! I’m OBSESSED with One Tree Hill & Desperate Housewives, they’re two of my all-time faves and I will always have the biggest crush on Nathan Scott tbh <3 xo
Sian | http://www.siankathrine.co.uk
Omg same Nathan Scott 4eva 😂
Oth and how to get away with murder are two of my appsoulte favourites!
Love them both! Great choices x
I watched most of OTH and agree it is completely binge worthy, but I was way more of a fan of the OC lol. I also loved Desperate Housewives, but I need to try the others except Santa Clartia Diet I have a fear of the B word 🙁 thanks for the suggestions!
I didn’t get into the OC or Gossip Girl or anything like that but OTH stole my heart. And I’m not entirely sure which B word you’re talking about, I assume bl***?
Yes lol
I am still sad about One Tree Hill ending. It was such a shame that all the cast couldn’t come back for the last episode.
Definitely my go-to binge-watch show!
Awh same! I think it was a good place to stop though. I’d love to see a next generation OTH!
I feel quite bad that I’ve never watched most of these series haha! I hear great things about them all but I have such a short attention span that I find sitting down to a new show quite difficult. I definitely need to bite the bullet and try some of these out though – I keep hearing about how good Santa Clarita Diet is!
Beth x
I’m like that with films but TV shows I can REALLY get into! I’d recommend SCD. It’s so fun and easy going!
Omg I loved the Santa Clarita diet! Drew Barrymore is fabulous in it and I love the whole concept of it. It’s definitely a great watch! Excellent post chicken, as always!!
She’s absolutely amazing isn’t she!
I was thinking about watching Orphan Black, but I never started actually doing it. Now you have convinced me, haha! Some of my favourite shows to binge watch must be Breaking Bad or Skins UK.
I love both of those! Skins gives me so much nostalgia!
So glad I read your blog today as I’m looking for something I can binge watch. Just finished Jane the Virgin and it was light hearted and I could switch off. I’m going to give Santa Clarita Diet a go as it sounds like a good one to binge on.
It really is! It’s another fairly easy going and light hearted series but with a bit of a twist
Desperate Housewives is my favourite! I would watch it all the time if I could!
Love, Amie ❤
The Curvaceous Vegan
Brilliant isn’t it!
I love being able to have a night in. Especially a night in in-front of Netflix. I love watching Gossip Girl. It’s pretty much the best TV show ever!
Ah I did try Gossip Girl but I don’t think it’s really for me that one!
I love binge-watching series. The latest one was the Scream series on Netflix, very interesting and great fun to guess who the killer is and why (I was wrong on the first season, and right on the second one)… Also, love Gossip Girl, Supergirl, The Flash, Roswell and X-files (a long one, but one season at a time is worth it)!
I’ve had my eye on Scream actually, I might give it a go!
I watched that one in two days, binge-easy and worth it. Let me know if you figured out who the murderer is before the last episode of season one. 🙂
Having a night in is great! You can relax in the comfort of your own home. I haven’t seen any of the shows from this list before except for an episode of HTGAWM! Love how there is a strong female lead and there’s a twist! Thanks for these recommendations! I haven’t watched TV for a while but remember being so hooked on Once Upon a Time!!!
exquisitely.me
I loved Once Upon a Time but got to around series 5/6 then gave up!
I love Orphan Black! Lately I’ve been on a Bones binge since Netflix added the last season and I wanted to see all of them again ❤️ Lucifer is also a fun one!
A few people have suggested Bones!
YES!! The sinner, Orphan Black and How To Get Away with Murder – some of my favourite series I’ve ever watched! Going to check out the other shows you’ve recommended too.
Florence | Beyond Imagination
Hope you enjoy! You have excellent taste 🙂
we are currently addicted to Grace and Frankie on Netflix!
I love Grace and Frankie!!!
We are almost caught up and im.gonna grieve til it comes back on!
We also like Cedar Cove, it’s a cheesy Hallmark series but binge-worthy nonetheless!
Oh….That´s what I need! I was just wondering these days what to watch! I loved so much One Tree Hill and Desperate Housewives. Will check out the others – thanks for sharing! By the way, From the recent shows I loved The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!
Anna / http://atlifestylecrossroads.com
You’re welcome! I’ve heard about that show!
I haven’t watched One Tree Hill or Desperate Housewives in so long! I definitely need to binge them sometime soon!
They’re definitely re-watchable series!
Oh my gosh! I loved The Sinner as well. Posted about it in my Weekly Recommendation Post yesterday on Backtofiction.com.
It was bloody fantastic wasn’t it!
Really was! Most of the time I’m watching shows while doing something else. (Because I’m a mom of two and don’t have time to sit still.) I could not do that with this show! Sitting on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what is going on.
I absolutely adore HTGAWM and Desperate Housewives! I’ve been thinking about watching Santa Clarita Diet but I think it will be too gory for me, I can’t watch shows with lots of blood and killing!
Em ~ http://thisisemsworld.com
It is gory but it’s so funny that it’s not like “proper” if you get me? Literally it’s so stupid you just look over the fact that she’s eating someone’s hand hahaha x
I might try it one day! x
Thank you for such an awesome post. I really need new shows to watch
Hope this has given you some suggestions x
AHH, I love Santa Clarita diet- that’s definitely one of those programmes that you finish in a day! I watched desperate housewives when I was younger and I’ve wanted the box set for ages but I’ve just found that it’s coming to now tv in May- I’m so excited!
Hayley x

I think we finished season 2 in almost a day! It’s SO additive x
I love watching Desperate Housewives, there are still some episodes that I haven’t seen yet.
http://ohduckydarling.com
Oh no! Go watch them immediately 🙂
Yes!! Honestly, give me wine and Netflix over a club any day. My official granny status hit when I reached my 20s too. I love Orphan Black, Desperate Housewives and basically any show created by Shonda Rhimes too. On a huge Greys binge right now x
Sophie
http://www.glowsteady.co.uk
You’re the second person to recommend Grey’s and I think I’ll give it a go!
I’m on season 10 and I only started watching it in February. It’s literally all I’ve been watching. The addiction is real 😂.
I loved the desperate housewives. I watched all of it in a heartbeat. My fave is Bree, she’s just so kickass!
I started wacthing how to get away with murderer. So far I really like what I see. Still have to continue it though.
Bree is amazing! I aspire to be her!
One Tree Hill! I could watch that series on repeat and never get sick of it. I’ve watched it maybe 4 times now and I cry every time I watch the last episode. I’m always looking for a new show to watch and I haven’t heard of The Sinner so I definitely want to give it a try 🙂
OMG SAME. I cry at some point during almost every episode hah!
I have been championing nights in too! I am a big fan of Orphan Black – it’s incredibly surreal and strange in plot but that’s what I love about it! I want to see Santa Clarita Diet – as I love Drew Barrymore x x x
Same! I think the characters are amazing in Orphan Black. I love Felix! xxx
One Tree Hill and Desperate Housewives are few of the legends! I’ve been planning to start on How To Get Away With Murder. Soon, hopefully! Because I’m currently binge watching Asian dramas. Aha. But cosy nights in are the best. All of us deserve that once in a while 😉 xx
Make How To Get Away With Murder your next show! It’s AMAZING xxx
Ahhh I’m so thankful I’ve come across this post! I’m looking to add more series to my ‘to watch’ list so I’ve lots to binge watch while I’m on maternity! One Tree Hill is my fav! I’ve watched it so many times I’ve lost count. Grey’s Anatomy is another series I love to binge watch again and again! I never get bored of the story line!
PaleGirlRambling xo
I’ve been wondering whether or not to give Grey’s Anatomy a try and I think I will! xxx
oh i just LOVE one tree hill! I have far too . many binge worthy series but some of my faves would defo have to be Heartland, Chesapeake Shores and Chicago Med!
I haven’t watched any of those others but OTH is life! xxx
Omg yes yes and yes! I loved al of these TV series and would so recommend them, I am all for the Santa Clara diet, I see season 2 is out but I haven’t gotten around to it yet!
Jessica & James | http://www.foodandbaker.co.uk / http://www.foodandbakertravels.co.uk
It’s BRILLIANT! You’ll love it 🙂 xxx
I loveee a cosy night in! 💖 Give me a blanket, cosy clothes and Dominos pizza anyday over a sweaty nightclub 😄. I’ve not actually seen any of these shows (probably because I don’t have Netflix) but I can totally binge watch comedy like Peep Show and Californication all the time! Great post Jenny! 💖 xx
Bexa | http://www.hellobexa.com
Loved the shows you picked! I really tried to get into Santa Clarita Diet but I really couldn’t 🙁 I do love Drew though!
Nooooo! That’s a shame. She’s amazing isn’t she, in anything! xxx
Love Santa clarita diet and Orphan black, i binge alot when im bored so try these: Anything marvel, once upon a time, shadow hunters, grimm, scorpion, black mirror, orange is the new black, big mouth, salvation, between, good witch, reign, h2o just add water and mako mermaids, izombie, jane the virgin, the good place, van helsing, riverdale, star trek discovery, plebs, altered carbon, grace and frankie =]
I love Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black. Have seen all of those. I’ve watched about half of Black Mirror. I like them but not mad about them. No episodes are living up to San Junipero for me! I gave up on Once Upon a Time and The Good Place and I’m not a superhero fan but Altered Carbon has caught my interest before. I’m currently watch Dark on Netflix.
Never seen any of those you mentioned, I love comedy/drama/family series and I binge read all of them!! Some of my favorite are American Housewife, The Goldberg, Black-ish, Fresh off the Boat, Superstore!
Santa Clarita is a comedy family drama so you might like that!
I didn’t realized that! Thank you, I’ll check it out!!
My absolute favorites tv series are Vampire Diaries and Supernatural! Omg if you want a series you can’t get enough of these two are it! I am also a sucker for Friends and Modern Family. 🙂
I can’t say I’m really into vampires and things like that! I tried TVD but got about 5 episodes in and got bored!
I love the Santa Clarita diet x
Brilliant isn’t it x
The only series on your list that I recognise is Desperate Housewives but I adored that when it was on terrestrial tv, the characters were just brilliant and I loved the friendships between the women. I think it was a far better series than SATC, for me anyway. And yes, totally agree, staying in has definitely taken over going out in our household too! x
Lisa | http://www.lisasnotebook.com
Yeah I prefer desperate housewives to SATC. I like the mystery elements behind it x
Brooklyn 99 is definitely my favourite series to binge watch x
http://www.ofbeautyandnothingness.co.uk
I haven’t seen that one x
I loved desperate housewives, I think Chicago PD, the good doctor, the good wife and orange is the new black and suits are good binge shows,
Orange is the New Black is brilliant x
I’ll have to say my binge-worthy series will always be FRIENDS 🙂
Gotta loves Friends!
I love How to get away with murder, although I am a bit behind at the minute. Bones is one of my ultimate series to watch also iZombie and can’t beat a bit of friends. I started Orphan Black but couldn’t get into it.
Emma x http://www.bookinggoodread.com
Couldn’t get into Orphan Black?! We are no longer friends! I urge you to try it again! I love Friends too xxx
Haha 😅 I keep meaning to give it another go, hear so many people raving about it x
