I think you’ll agree with me when I say the ‘cosy night in‘ the new ‘big night out‘. I’ve been championing the ‘night in‘ since I hit my 20’s when I realised I’d much rather be in my fleecy pyjama bottoms, eating a pizza and watching my favourite shows rather than getting pushed and shoved around in a hot, crowded club where your shoes get stuck to the floor amiright? Why would you when in this age of technology we’re in now, there’s so much going for the night in. Food can be ordered on our phone at the push of a button (or 12, if you’re me ordering from the Domino’s website and want all of the sides) and our favourite movies and shows can be watched on TV’s such as the 4KTV Panasonic in such high quality we may as well be at the cinema.

So now we’ve established I’m a serial ‘night inner‘, let’s talk about shows. I bloody love a good TV show. I think I prefer a series to a movie because I just love being able to get to know even more about the characters, seeing them change and evolve over a period of what is sometimes years over the course of the seasons! I don’t think there’s anything better than finding a good series and being completely engrossed. So let me hit you with some of what I think are totally binge-worthy series you can enjoy on your next night in!

Santa Clarita Diet

If you haven’t heard of Santa Clarita Diet by now, where have you been? This has been my latest binge watch, I’m gutted I’ve finished it and I’m already eagerly awaiting season 3. Not my normal sort of series but it’s light-hearted, Drew Barrymore is phenomenal and it’s totally binge-worthy!

Orphan Black

Orphan Black blew me away when I watched it for the first time last year. I was hooked, almost instantly. It’s such a unique and unusual series with an outstanding main actress who will amaze you time and time again in each episode. A binge-worthy series for sure.

The Sinner

The Sinner took the world by storm when it was released last year. Jessica Biel is absolutely amazing and this series will have you hooked from the first 10 minutes. There’s plenty of twists and turns and will certainly leave you gasping! The Sinner took absolutely no time at all to watch!

One Tree Hill

Ah, One Tree Hill will always hold a special place in my heart for binge-worthy series. I’ve seen One Tree Hill more times than I can even remember but each and every time it feels like I’m coming home to a series and characters I know I can trust. A perfect season for a cosy night in with friends!

Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives is another series that I think is great for a cosy night in with girl friends. It’s array of colourful characters will leave you wanting more and more with the end of each episode! I’ve binge watched this series on my own and I’ve binge watched it with my Mum.

How To Get Away With Murder

Another series which is on the very top of my all-time favourites, How To Get Away With Murder is, quite frankly, outstanding. If you want a series with a fierce female lead, this is the one for you. With a shock in every single episode, How To Get Away With Murder knows how to keep you coming back for more.

What are some of your favourite binge-worthy series? Any recommendations? Have you seen any of these and what did you think? Let me know!

  1. Love your list of tv shows. Huge TV Nerd over here, lol. Yes, to all the crazy amazing that is Santa Clarita Diet. Definitely one of my favorite Netflix original series. Drew Barrymore is so perfect in this TV gem. Orphan Black is another fave of mine. Tatiana Maslany played the lead on that show and what an amazing actress. I mean, just so incredibly talented. Was so happy when she finally won an Emmy for the many characters she played on the show. I really like The Sinner also. Although, I did read the book first and the book and the show are like completely different. I really liked the book, and I did like the show but there were sooooo many changes that I find it a little distracting at times. Looking forward to season two though. Carrie Coon is going to be on the show and she was amazing on HBO’s The Leftovers. So the show is definitely in good hands.

  2. I’m currently watching the Vampire diaries which I can’t get enough of and I’m
    thinking of restarting Supernatural.

  3. Omg I love How to Get Away with Murder and I definitely binge watched that haha! Can’t wait for the next season to be on Netflix. I’ll definitely check out the other shows you have mentioned. I also love Friends and The Good Witch.

  4. I have never seen any of those titles, but must give them a watch and see if they’re worth the hype! I love watching a good documentary by Louis Theroux if I’m having a night-in (I’m a serial night-inner too!) and learning something new.

  5. I’m so much like you – I used to go out all the time when I was at uni but now I’m in my mid-20s I can’t handle my drink or the hangovers anymore haha so I much prefer a night in! I’m OBSESSED with One Tree Hill & Desperate Housewives, they’re two of my all-time faves and I will always have the biggest crush on Nathan Scott tbh <3 xo

  6. I watched most of OTH and agree it is completely binge worthy, but I was way more of a fan of the OC lol. I also loved Desperate Housewives, but I need to try the others except Santa Clartia Diet I have a fear of the B word 🙁 thanks for the suggestions!

  7. I am still sad about One Tree Hill ending. It was such a shame that all the cast couldn’t come back for the last episode.

    Definitely my go-to binge-watch show!

  8. I feel quite bad that I’ve never watched most of these series haha! I hear great things about them all but I have such a short attention span that I find sitting down to a new show quite difficult. I definitely need to bite the bullet and try some of these out though – I keep hearing about how good Santa Clarita Diet is!

  9. I was thinking about watching Orphan Black, but I never started actually doing it. Now you have convinced me, haha! Some of my favourite shows to binge watch must be Breaking Bad or Skins UK.

  10. So glad I read your blog today as I’m looking for something I can binge watch. Just finished Jane the Virgin and it was light hearted and I could switch off. I’m going to give Santa Clarita Diet a go as it sounds like a good one to binge on.

  11. I love binge-watching series. The latest one was the Scream series on Netflix, very interesting and great fun to guess who the killer is and why (I was wrong on the first season, and right on the second one)… Also, love Gossip Girl, Supergirl, The Flash, Roswell and X-files (a long one, but one season at a time is worth it)!

  12. Having a night in is great! You can relax in the comfort of your own home. I haven’t seen any of the shows from this list before except for an episode of HTGAWM! Love how there is a strong female lead and there’s a twist! Thanks for these recommendations! I haven’t watched TV for a while but remember being so hooked on Once Upon a Time!!!

  15. I haven’t watched One Tree Hill or Desperate Housewives in so long! I definitely need to binge them sometime soon!

      1. Really was! Most of the time I’m watching shows while doing something else. (Because I’m a mom of two and don’t have time to sit still.) I could not do that with this show! Sitting on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what is going on.

  16. I absolutely adore HTGAWM and Desperate Housewives! I’ve been thinking about watching Santa Clarita Diet but I think it will be too gory for me, I can’t watch shows with lots of blood and killing!

    Em ~ http://thisisemsworld.com

    1. It is gory but it’s so funny that it’s not like “proper” if you get me? Literally it’s so stupid you just look over the fact that she’s eating someone’s hand hahaha x

  17. AHH, I love Santa Clarita diet- that’s definitely one of those programmes that you finish in a day! I watched desperate housewives when I was younger and I’ve wanted the box set for ages but I’ve just found that it’s coming to now tv in May- I’m so excited!

      1. I’m on season 10 and I only started watching it in February. It’s literally all I’ve been watching. The addiction is real 😂.

  18. One Tree Hill! I could watch that series on repeat and never get sick of it. I’ve watched it maybe 4 times now and I cry every time I watch the last episode. I’m always looking for a new show to watch and I haven’t heard of The Sinner so I definitely want to give it a try 🙂

  19. I have been championing nights in too! I am a big fan of Orphan Black – it’s incredibly surreal and strange in plot but that’s what I love about it! I want to see Santa Clarita Diet – as I love Drew Barrymore x x x

  20. One Tree Hill and Desperate Housewives are few of the legends! I’ve been planning to start on How To Get Away With Murder. Soon, hopefully! Because I’m currently binge watching Asian dramas. Aha. But cosy nights in are the best. All of us deserve that once in a while 😉 xx

  21. Ahhh I’m so thankful I’ve come across this post! I’m looking to add more series to my ‘to watch’ list so I’ve lots to binge watch while I’m on maternity! One Tree Hill is my fav! I’ve watched it so many times I’ve lost count. Grey’s Anatomy is another series I love to binge watch again and again! I never get bored of the story line!

  23. I loveee a cosy night in! 💖 Give me a blanket, cosy clothes and Dominos pizza anyday over a sweaty nightclub 😄. I’ve not actually seen any of these shows (probably because I don’t have Netflix) but I can totally binge watch comedy like Peep Show and Californication all the time! Great post Jenny! 💖 xx

  24. Loved the shows you picked! I really tried to get into Santa Clarita Diet but I really couldn’t 🙁 I do love Drew though!

  25. Love Santa clarita diet and Orphan black, i binge alot when im bored so try these: Anything marvel, once upon a time, shadow hunters, grimm, scorpion, black mirror, orange is the new black, big mouth, salvation, between, good witch, reign, h2o just add water and mako mermaids, izombie, jane the virgin, the good place, van helsing, riverdale, star trek discovery, plebs, altered carbon, grace and frankie =]

    1. I love Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black. Have seen all of those. I’ve watched about half of Black Mirror. I like them but not mad about them. No episodes are living up to San Junipero for me! I gave up on Once Upon a Time and The Good Place and I’m not a superhero fan but Altered Carbon has caught my interest before. I’m currently watch Dark on Netflix.

  26. Never seen any of those you mentioned, I love comedy/drama/family series and I binge read all of them!! Some of my favorite are American Housewife, The Goldberg, Black-ish, Fresh off the Boat, Superstore!

  27. My absolute favorites tv series are Vampire Diaries and Supernatural! Omg if you want a series you can’t get enough of these two are it! I am also a sucker for Friends and Modern Family. 🙂

  28. The only series on your list that I recognise is Desperate Housewives but I adored that when it was on terrestrial tv, the characters were just brilliant and I loved the friendships between the women. I think it was a far better series than SATC, for me anyway. And yes, totally agree, staying in has definitely taken over going out in our household too! x
