Skincare is something most of us think about daily and something that has definitely become more of an importance in our general upkeep and even within our self-care routines. I don’t have a particularly fascinating past when it comes to my skin and skincare; as a teenager, my skin was okay with no major problems, thankfully. It was only since I hit my early 20’s, when I started on a new contraceptive pill when I started to get acne which bothered me enough to go to the doctors. I’ve tried a shed load of different brands and products throughout the years; full on skincare routines with cleansers, toners, moisturizers and an array of creams down to soap and water. But I’ve yet to find something that works – I mean genuinely works – for my skin.

I will admit, I am pretty lazy when it comes to skincare. Especially in the evening when all I want to do is get into bed and not spend half an hour on my face. At present, my skin certainly isn’t in great condition. I’m very pale (without fake tan) with freckles (which aren’t massively noticeable any more – more so when I was a kid) and my face goes red really easily. Which is really great when you have anxiety and get embarrassed when anyone asks you literally anything – hello tomato head! In fact, due to this pill I’m on, my skin is probably the worse it’s ever been. Who said skin problems stop when you hit your 20’s?

I definitely need to start investing in good quality products and actively taking the time to take care of my skin. At the end of the day, I know that you should start looking after it when you’re young, so the wrinkles, dark circles and crows feet don’t show up as much when you’re older. But the rate I’m going, I’m going to look 70 when I’m 30! So… what am I going to do about it? Here’s my game plan!

Invest in good quality products

I don’t like spending money on myself but I think certain skincare products are definitely worth spending a little more on to get the best formulas and treatments and for the sake of knowing you’re putting the best products on your skin. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve tried a ton of different brands before from cheap, high street to a little more expensive. One brand I haven’t tried yet, is Solvaderm, a brand who took the skincare industry by storm especially with their Eyevage Anti-Aging Rejuvination Treatment. Although I’m only 25 (soon to be 26, help!) I wouldn’t have really thought I would need anti-aging eye creams but it’s true… you do!

Eyevage can be used in your 20’s all the way until your 70’s and can be used on all types of skin, including oily, dry and combination. The skin around the eyes has a complex nature and the leading dermatologists who designs Eyevage had that in mind when they created this multi-action cream which includes a firming agent, anti-inflammatory to help prevent against environmental damage and ultra-conditioning  properties.

I think investing in a handful of super high quality products, such as Eyevage, is beneficial to the upkeep of your skin. We all want to be fresh faced and bright eyed and customers of Eyevage have said it does just that, brights and smooths the skin around your eyes. Skincare doesn’t have to be a big ordeal, as much products just requires you to pop a little on twice a day and the quicker it takes, the better for the lazy girl, like me! But I always want to have bright, healthy looking eyes and looking after the skin around my eyes as I get older, along with other things like eyelash extensions and a decent concealer (because we all have the odd late night don’t we).

Take your make up off and use less make up wipes

Taking my make up off is something I’ve always been fairly good at and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve definitely started wearing make up less often (which might be due to the fact that I work from home and rarely go out – HA!) but I have heard that make up wipes – the wiping action more specifically – can take a toll on your skin. So simply using make up remover instead of wipes is a super easy, stress-free, lazy girl friendly transition.

Drink enough water

Again, something I’ve always been quite good at because I love water but we all know the age old advice of drinking enough water can be good for your skin and there must be something in that because let’s face it, water is the God of everything. I’ll always make a point of ensuring I drink enough water every day to benefit my health and my skin!

So if, like me, you’re a lazy girl (or boy!) when it comes to skincare, there are super easy things we can do just to help which doesn’t require a lot of effort. Investing in a few but quality products such as Eyevage, one of the top eye creams on the market and adopting simple lifestyle changes which could go a long way! How do you look after your skin? Any miracles products you use? Do you have any weird or unusual techniques that you use to look after your skin?

  1. I’ve always thought the same as you, that because I’m 23 I didn’t really need to use eye creams or anti-ageing treatments yet, but maybe I should start!
If you are looking for help with clearing breakouts, the Simple hydrating moisturiser and cleansing wash worked wonders for me when the pill I was on was affecting my skin!

  2. I love the Elemis Superfoods skincare line. Like, obsessed with it. I’ve noticed my skin looking brighter, full of moisture, and overall clearer. I also started investing in using face masks throughout my week. Also, exfoliating is really important so a good peel product or exfoliator is must!
