Despite being in various long-term relationships, I can’t say I’ve ever really been on a proper “romantic getaway” before. I’m not a hugely romantic person but you never know what being whisked away to far off shores could do to a gal! I’m yet to find that one out (and I wouldn’t personally consider a week on a boat on the Norfolk Broads a “romantic getaway”, as fun as it was) but a girl can dream, right? From Thailand to Australia, Paris to Austria, I think anywhere has the potential to be the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, depending on your own personal preferences. Where one couple might find sky-diving and jet-skiing romantic activities to do together, another might not (I certainly would not…) So, if I had my way, money was no object and I could deal with heat a little better than I’m currently doing right now in this ridiculous UK heatwave, here is my wish-list of romantic getaway destinations!

Orlando

We all know I love Disney by now so any trip that involves Disney would be romantic to me! (As well as super fun and magical!) Not only would the U.S be a great place to visit, throw in Walt Disney World and you more or less have my ideal romantic getaway! I’ve only ever visited Disneyland Paris and whilst I love it and consider it my home from home, I’d like to check out one of the other resorts at some point in my life!

Phuket

I’m sure everyone has dreamed of Thailand once in their life, the beaches, the culture, the people, the food and the weather that people who have been always talk about. Although it’d probably be a bit on the hot side for me, with one of my all time favourite books and films being “The Beach”, Thailand would certainly be up there on my list of romantic getaways. If you’re in the business of wanting to visit Thailand yourself, Destination2 have some great Thailand all inclusive offers to check out!

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi sounds like a really stunning, luxurious and magical place to visit. I’ve always liked the idea of going to the Middle East where it pays to be civilized and respectful. And of course, it’s the home of the final Formula 1 race of the season and assuming that I’ll be attending my romantic getaway with my partner, that certainly would be an ideal trip for us, as two highly enthusiastic Formula 1 fans! The glitz, the glamour, the luxury and the sound of engines, what more could you want?

Santorini

And finally, a little closer to home but still utterly beautiful, Santorini would definitely be on my list of romantic getaway destinations I’d love to visit. If all the photos I continuously pin on Pinterest are anything to go by, it truly is a beautiful place to visit. I’ve never been to Greece before but it’s always been somewhere I think I’d really like. My parents first holiday together was in Greece, so maybe that’s why!

Have you visited any of these places? Where would feature on your own romantic getaway dream wish list? Let me know!

  1. I’ve never been to Disneyland Paris, but I did go to Walt Disney World in Florida and it was incredible! I can’t even imagine how much you’d love it, I really hope you get to go someday soon! For me, I think a trip to Iceland or Norway in the winter would be my ultimate romantic getaway!

  6. I’ve been to Thailand, Orlando (briefly lived there- mistake) and Santorini. I don’t know that I’d chose any of them for a romantic getaway but Santorini comes the closest (a bit too touristy for my liking, there are other Greek islands that are more authentic). But now you have me thinking – where do I want to go for a romantic getaway? The poor hubby doesn’t know what’s going to hit him when I get home!

    1. I doubt you’d see somewhere that way if you lived there though. I’ve lived near London my whole life and some people would definitely consider that a romantic city but I couldn’t think of anywhere worse.
