2018 has definitely been the year that I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone with my blog. I started to dip my toes into some beauty related posts all the way back in January, which have continued sporadically throughout the year because as it turns out, I actually quite enjoy it (and I’m not as clueless as I once thought I was). Fashion blogging on the other hand, has always been so far out of my comfort zone that it was just a dot on the horizon. My crippling self-esteem, lack of style and just general ‘nopeness’ at having to sift through a ton of photos of myself was so far on my ‘nope scale’ at the beginning of the year that who in the heck thought I’d be here now, working with a clothing brand. Not me that’s for sure.

But if 2018 has taught me anything, it’s that you gotta step out of your comfort zone every once in a while, take some risks and do something you’ve never done before. So when I was approached by the lovely team at ELVI*, I threw caution to the wind and said yes. ELVI have some gorgeous pieces in their new Winter collection, which I was very lucky to be able to have a browse through and pick some items from to feature.

ZADI Slim Fit Trousers in Burgundy

My face resembled the heart-eye emoji as soon as I saw these. Burgundy is one of my favourite colours – especially in fashion and especially especially in the Autumn and Winter. I’ve also become obsessed with trousers this year and I’ve spent months trying to find my perfect pair, ordering 7 different styles and sending them all back so you can imagine my utter joy when these arrived and fit me perfectly and voila, just like that, I’d found my perfect trousers.

I’m a bit of an awkward size when it comes to clothes, especially on the bottom. I can fit happily into a 12 in some places but will need a 16 in others, it’s a bit of a pain. I went with the 14 here and they fit me perfectly around the waist. On me, they don’t particularly look ‘slim fit’ but had I got a size 12, they’d have probably been a little small. But I like the way these look, they’re very smart and they’ll definitely get worn a lot during this time of year! They certainly made me feel very “girl boss”.

Sequin Asymmetric Skirt

Now this, although I absolutely love it, was a bit “out there” for me. I’m not very bold with my fashion choices and to me, this skirt is quite a statement, with it’s tight fit, sequins and asymmetric style. But like I said, I’m stepping out of that good ol’ comfort zone and I went for it. Again, another piece that fit me utterly perfectly so I can definitely say that the sizing of ELVI products are pretty true to size.

I’m quite a curvy girl, especially around the bottom half so finding bottom-half clothes which fit nicely and are flattering is a bit of a struggle. But I thought this skirt did a good job of both of those. Put it this way, I’d feel quite confident on a night out in this skirt. I’m also never usually one to choose a mid-length like this but I was really pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it and how comfortable I found it too. I just found everything about this skirt to be really flattering!

Final thoughts?

I absolutely love both of these pieces and I’m glad I chose two thing which were vastly different in how you’d style them and what you’d wear them for. Although I wore the same top and shoes with both outfits – which went well with both of them – there’s so many different ways you could style both of these pieces. As a company, ELVI have been great to work with and I was so impressed with their Winter range which consisted of some different items I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’d also like to praise them for modelling their clothes on two different body types *round of applause*.

I think the trousers are my fave, they’re definitely Girl Boss and the colour is amazing. They look like they’ll be easy to dress up or down, the kind of thing I’d wear when I know I’m going out after work.

The skirt isn’t really me but I absolutely love the trousers. I haven’t heard of the brand before but I’ve just bookmarked your page and the trousers page for when I get paid – thank you! Also, massive kudos to ELVI for including different sized models to show how outfits look on real people, I so wish more brands did this xx
