Spring is fast approaching. At the time of writing this post (20th February) we’ve been graced with a beautiful day of 16 degrees, blue skies and gorgeous sun. I’ve taken a lovely little stroll with the dog around a lake near my house, trying to ignore the fact that we only have this weather due to global warming and our planet is dying. That got real deep real quick but let’s not beat around the bush.
As Spring arrives, with it’s warmer weather, blooming flowers, new life and the start of hay fever season, it’s also a great time to go inwards and reflect and rejuvenate. I don’t know about anyone else but I always feel motivated in Spring. It’s always the time of year where I want to make more plans, start a new project, set some goals and just generally have a shift in energy.
Spring is a time for blossoming, change and for getting rid of anything that doesn’t serve us anymore. Whether that’s mentally, spiritually, emotionally or physically. So if you’re feeling a bit stagnant, stuck and still not really over the frantic go-go-go that a New Year can bring with it, then stick around! This post is for you.
Declutter your space
Spring is a great time for a declutter. Chances are, things have built up a bit from Christmas, New Year and the first few months of 2019 so what better time than now to clear your space and make room for that energy to flow without bumping into junk at every turn? Not sure where to start? Check out my De-cluttering Made Easy post!
Get rid of anything that isn’t working
Now that your space is clear, it’s time to focus on your blog. Did you pick up a new habit in the New Year? Did you join a new blogging group? Did you decide to branch out into different topics only to find that you’re not actually enjoying it? Whatever it is, drop anything that isn’t working. Leave it behind.
Brainstorm and plan content for the coming months
Spring is a great time to get the creative juices flowing. Getting outside and doing something that doesn’t involve being bundled up with a hot water bottle watching Netflix is bound to spark some sort of inspiration. Especially if you’re the sort of person that finds planning difficult, now is a good time to give it a go! If you need some inspiration, my 25 Spring and Summer Blog Post Ideas post might help!
Get organised
Which brings me nicely onto this next point – organisation! My favourite thing in the world! If you’ve been wanting to get more organised, now is the time to start. If your current organisation method isn’t quite working, bin it and try something new or adapt it to suit you. I use the Blog Organisation Spreadsheet from Tea Party Beauty. A completely free but absolutely life changing resource.
Re-write your about me page / disclaimer / privacy notice if it’s out of date
I took a look at my about me page a few weeks ago and almost vomited. It was so horribly out of date and cringy and I couldn’t believe I’d left it like that for so long. Your blog and the blogging world in general is always changing and evolving so make sure your blog keeps up. I have lots of advice about writing a disclaimer and privacy notice in my eBook!
Start that project you’ve been putting off
Spring is always the time of year when I get my head down and start a new project or at least brainstorm my next one. I’m currently working on my next eBook, which after a lot of uncertainty, I’ve decided that I definitely want to continue with and offer for the lowest price possible so I can try and help as many people as possible. If you’re unsure, take a leap of faith.
Make a plan
Going forward, where do you want your blog to go? Do you want to start working with brands? Write about different topics? Turn it into a business? Whatever the answer, make a plan. Whatever you want, write it down. Where do you want to be in 1 month? 1 year? 5 years? Manifest the heck out of that sh*t!
Set some blogging goals and intentions
And how are you going to get to where you want to be in your plan? By setting goals and intentions and working towards it gradually, of course. I’m all for small, achievable goals that we know with a bit of hard work, we can cross off our list. Start setting small goals for the week or the month and tie them in with your intentions. For example, my intention is to work with brands next month so in order to achieve that, my goal will be to apply for 5 blogging opportunities.
Do a personal well-being check
So your space is all clean and tidy, your blog is up to date and your intentions are set. But what about YOU honey? How are YOU doing? The first part of the year can be crazy and sometimes we don’t take enough time for ourselves. So spend some time doing a Spring clean on yourself. Any appointments you need to make? Make them. Any aches or pains? Go for a massage or do some Yoga. Time to take up a new exercise or sport? Go for it!
Reflect on your year so far
And finally, now is a good time to sit down and just reflect. I know when I come to do this, a lot of emotions are going to come up because it’s been a really hectic and weird and beautiful and stressful first part of the year. If you’re not sure where to start, maybe try journaling. Write down things you’re grateful for, things you’ve learnt, your favourite moments and things you want to leave behind from the first part of 2019.
I truly enjoyed this post. Months later and its still relevant and very much applicable. Spring is definitely the best time to refresh and renew just like the flowers that bloom
Thank you š
I love these tips!! I really need to update my contact me page as I want to add some companies I work with!! I might have to sit down this weekend and get it done, thanks š xx

It such a boring job but itās definitely worth setting some time aside to do! Adding brands youāve worked with into your contact page is a great idea!
Brilliant advice! Updating my About page & decluttering my blog certainly improved the look of it & made it much less stressful to worry about. Thanks for such fab tips! š
Thank you! š
This is officially kicking my little blogger self into gear to do a bit of tidying! As for me, I’m just going to try and embrace the light now that clocks have gone forward. Hopefully that will do a little something to my mental health!

Iām so glad! I love the longer days too š
You are so organised! Makes me feel inspired to do more with my blog, to be honest. Thank you for the wake-up call haha š
Youāre welcome, glad I could help!
I already went through the KonMari Method for tidying my home, but I do feel like my blog needs a Spring cleaning! I have no posts planned for April so I should get planning! I also don’t remember when I last updated my About Me… However, I have been applying for blogging opportunities which is a big step for me!
Not blogging related, but about 2 years ago I started writing a mystery book. It was very basic & the characters had no names & there was no dialogue & this week I’ve been rewriting it & I have 3,750 words! Yay!

Tales of Belle
Wow thatās amazing about your book! Keep at it š I wrote 80,000 words of a book once and scrapped it all! So I know how hard it can be.
Thank you! Oh wow. That must have taken a while to write. What was it about?
It was a chick-lit style book about some girl whoās ex moved in next door. It was pretty funny but there was so much wrong with it fundamentally that I scrapped it months later!
I really need to get organized again, or at least stop taking on so much. Iām finding it hard to keep on top of things lately.
Definitely worth cutting back on some things if thatās the case!
I’ve got some tidying up to do on my blog, like asap!
Love, Amie ā¤
The Curvaceous Vegan
Hope you can get it done soon!
Youāve got some great tips here. Iām currently working on a major declutter atm.
http://littlemissmelanie.com
Thank you and good luck with it!
Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet.
Even after all the changes I have made to my blog, I still need to do some “Spring Cleaning” I also love the idea of a new project.
Thanks for the tips!
The changes and updates never end do they!
These are great little tips that wonāt take up a lot of time to do. Iām always ready to do a spring clean on my blog but never know exactly what I should do so thank you for this post!
Samantha | https://samanthajblogs.co.uk
Youāre welcome! Hope it was handy š
Re-writing my ABOUT ME page has been on my to-do list for 6 weeks. I think you have inspired me to do it today.
Iām so glad!
I love a spring clean, there’s something about a new season that makes me want to change everything and go into it with a fresh start. Also love the tip about editing your about me page, that’s something I very rarely think to update! xx
Tiffany x http://www.foodandotherloves.co.uk
Me too! Oh your about me page is so easy to forget about š
Great tips as always Jenny! Iāll be having a major spring clean and tidy around the house!
Ps I personally love the line āI looked at my about me page and nearly vomitedā haha!

Haha it literally did – it was gross š I was such a cringe!
This is really great! I will definitely be using a lot of these tips to get organised. Every new year for the first few months I always want things extra organised and tidy to start the new year fresh.
I never thought to check My about me page on my blog, need to give that an update!! X
I love doing that at the beginning of the year too but itās always nice to check back in during Spring š
Thanks for this post! Iāve promised myself that I am going to blog more, I have wrote down lots of blog content ideas so hopefully that should inspire me!
Thatās great news! š
Iāve only just finished the declutter irl but definitely need to get my online strategy sorted out š Spent far longer procrastinating about it than it would have actually just taken! Thanks for the motivation to do it!!
Haha itās hard to get going for sure! š
This is a great post and it certainly gave me a lot to think about. I never know what to go for when I set goals, I don’t want to get too bogged down with numbers and let a bad day ruin a so far so good week/ month. I get caught up in stuff like that wayyyy to easily for my liking. The about me page…yeah. I need to do that and I’ve known that needs to change for quite a while but I always cringe when I talk about myself so I never know how much cringing is too much. Definitely going on next week’s to-do list x
Sophie
Talking about yourself is so difficult š I hate it too. With goals, just donāt think too much about it. I always set achievable goals which I know I CAN hit but if I donāt, meh, thereās always next month!
Oh I love a good old spring clean, social media clean, wardrobe clean, my fave is email unsubscribe clean but updating our about me page is something we always forget to do, so thanks for the reminder!
Jessica & James | http://www.foodandbaker.co.uk
Oh me too! I love going through my Facebook friends and deleting people from there š
Out with the old and in the with new… lol I’m intrigued with your Spring Cleaning advice because I’ve been fixing up my blog and perfecting it lately. Thank you for sharing love!
Thank you š I love the out with the old saying… I love throwing stuff away!
This is such a fab post Jenny! I love Spring – as you say, it’s the perfect time of year to declutter and re-evaluate! I love organising too (perhaps I put more time into planning than writing). I’m heading over to tea party beauty to download the blog organisation spreadsheet. Perhaps I will spend less time organising myself then and make my time more productive! xxx

I hope you find it helpful! Itās been a life saver this year and definitely made me much more organised! Itās such a useful resource!
There is so many things in this post that I should do! Really ‘About me’ page needs to be updated desperately!
Haha I feel you! Mine did – donāt think Iād updated it in like 3 years?
I plan on decluttering tomorrow and I’m so excited! Everything just seems far better when it’s organised.
Wonderful post š
Oooh Iām excited for you! I love a declutter SO much šš
Thank for the ideas!!! I really love the candle š
Thank you – it smells great!
I really need to declutter my things! Thanks for sharing š

Youāre welcome x
Just what I needed today, Iām feeling a little overwhelmed with all Iām learning so I need to take stock and do some serious planning.
Thank you for sharing these tips x
Planning and organising always helps with the overwhelmed feeling! š Take it easy!
This is such a great post. Spring is the time to clean up your life and get ready for summer. Thanks for shring.
Totally š I hate summer though haha!
This is a great post to re-energise and refocus, especially to re-boost that drive from New Year. I love a good spring clean, and it so helps with getting back on track with things doesn’t it? I deffo need to have a look at my about me page, and probably my media kit that I did around Christmas time. You’re right the blogging world does move fast, some things you forget to update!
Thanks for giving me the motivation to get back on track!
Aimsy xoxo
https://www.aimsyantics.co.uk
It really does move awfully fast I agree!
These are some great ideas Jenny. I always find myself motivated by Spring cleaning this time of year, whether that’s giving my blog a facelift or decluttering at home. I’ve just taken a look at my about me page and it’s, OK, nothing special, just OK. So that’s something I’ll be taking a look at, thanks for the tip. As for my home life I’m planning to finish decluttering around the house before my staycation at the end of April. First up is the guest room.
Good luck with your declutter!
Thanks! š
I just rebranded, including a new name, URL, and other related marketing images! It was the best blog spring cleaning I could have done for myself! As much as I loved the old brand, it just wasn’t working the way I thought it would, and I really wanted to expand my posts a little. I have high hopes for this new one!
Thatās great! Glad youāre happy with the new rebrand š
At the beginning of the year, I started to get out of Facebook groups that were inactive or I just was not interested in! I think every now and then I need to do the same thing with other social media groups. Thank you for the tips!
Totally! Itās easy to let them add up!
These are some amazing ideas! I love the idea of updating old pages; I know for a fact I haven’t touched my about me in about a year, so it could definitely do with an update in the next few months. I’m aiming to do a complete overhaul of my blog aesthetic, to be honest, so this has definitely given me some brilliant ideas of where to get started with it all. I love the idea of reflecting on your year so far; my year has been hectic, too, so I could definitely benefit from slowing down and taking the time to process how it’s been so far, haha! Thanks for the tips.
I could do with a bit of slow down reflection too! Although I kinda do that in my yoga practices every morning. Itās the only time of day when Iām actually slowing down! Canāt wait to see what you do with your blog going forward!
So many useful tips! I always do a bit of blog maintenance on the side but I never really declutter. Maybe it’s time to change that.
Itās boring but definitely worth it!
Firstly, that’s a rather stunning candle š I can’t believe I haven’t thought about looking at my About Me page, I don’t remember the last time I updated that, it’s probably full of all kinds of rubbish, eeep. And I’m definitely going to take a look at that digital blog schedule because my current one is in my BuJo and can get a little messy (even though I always write in pencil, haha). I also like the point about making a plan (instead of lurching from one post to the next). Loads of fab tips here, Jenny, thank you! x
Lisa | http://www.lisasnotebook.com
Haha that candle has featured in a LOT of blog photos so THANK YOU! Iād definitely recommend the blog schedule!
I have done a spring clean of my room (did so much decluttering) but not of my blog. I might rewrite my about page or just do a SEO sprint clean!
SEO spring cleaning is so boring but worth it!
Love this post! So helpful I’ll definitely be using these tips x
