My Spiritual Routines #InternationalYogaDay

GIFTED | Tomorrow is International Yoga Day and if there’s anything you know about me by now, it’s that Yoga is one of the biggest parts of my life. I literally couldn’t live without. Now by all means, I don’t believe that Yoga and spirituality come hand in hand. I spoke quite frankly in this post about how the Yoga retreat I went too was actually far too spiritual for me. But I definitely believe in the power of the universe, manifestation, energy and all that good stuff, so I do have some spiritual routines in my day to day life that I practice!

My Spiritual Routines

In my misconceptions of Yoga post, I mentioned about how you don’t have to be spiritual to do Yoga. And that’s true, you don’t. But there’s certainly levels of spirituality a person can have. You don’t have to believe in nor practice everything and I think it’s healthier to just jive with what you do believe.

So today I’m sharing with you some spiritual routines I practice almost every day!

Yoga & meditation

Of course I’ll start with the obvious, which is Yoga. I take my Yoga practice day by day. The practices I do very much depend on what I feel like I need that day. Some days, I just need to sweat it out and move my body. Other days, I need to relax, stretch and reflect.

Meditation is always a part of my Yoga routine however. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes at the start or end of a practice. But I deeply value these moments to just sit still, be quiet and focus on my breathing. You don’t have to be spiritual to meditate. But for me, it’s a chance to go inward and focus on my energy.

Read a card from The Universe Has Your Back oracle deck

This is a new addition to my daily spiritual routines but one that I’ve found so valuable. The Universe Has Your Back oracle cards are a deck of 52 beautifully illustrated cards with positive, inspirational and and guiding quotes on them. They help you tune in, think and reflect and remember how the universe always has your back!

I was kindly sent a deck of these cards, which you can find on Live in the Light for just £11.99. Written by Gabrielle Bernstein They come in a lovely box and are a really nice size too (bigger than a deck of playing cards), are beautifully produced and the illustrations by Micaela Ezra are stunning throughout the entire deck.

Express gratitude

Not necessarily a spiritual practice at least it doesn’t have to be. But I’ve found I express far more gratitude when I’m more in tune with my inner self and energy. I try and express gratitude every single day. No matter how bad your day is, there’s always something to be grateful for. A warm cup of tea. A chirping bird. A good film.

I like to express gratitude whilst in Savasana. Whilst breathing deeply, every exhale for 10 or so breaths I’ll think of something I’m grateful for. Either that day or just in life in general. I like to think I’m somehow sending some positive vibes to all the things and people I’m grateful for.

Say some affirmations

I’ve been saying the same set of affirmations every single morning for around a year and a half now and some of them, I genuinely feel like have manifested into my life. Whether you believe in that or not, that’s totally up to you! But I like starting my day – often before I’ve even got out of bed – with some affirmations and good intentions.

And in case you’re interested, the current affirmations I say daily are “I am worthy of living in abundance. I am worthy of having amazing opportunities. I am worthy of being happy and healthy”.

Read my manifestations

Back in October of 2017, I watched this video from Raw Alignment and it kinda changed my life. If you’re interested in manifestation, then I’d highly recommend watching this video for a clear and concise explanation and a way to start in your manifestation journey.

I followed the advice in this video and made a list of all the areas of my life and the things I’d like to manifest within those areas. Of course some of them haven’t happened yet. Some of them are nowhere close to happening. But some of them are. And again, I love starting each day reading these and solidifying them into place more and more.

I’d love to hear of any spiritual routines you do each day! Do you do any of these? Are you a spiritual person?

  3. I used to be very spiritual, wiccan in fact. Had lots of crystals, oracle & tarot cards. I used to meditate too. Since getting as ill as I am now, I just lost interest in all of it. My SO still does all of it though. Maybe I will go back to it but I doubt it. 🙂

    1. If it’s something you believe you definitely should go back to it – maybe not all of it but just the things you love the most.

  4. Hi. I’ve wanted to try yoga for a long time. I never realized it could be (should be?) spiritual. Meditation, affirmations, gratitude. Wow. More motivation to get out there and try this. Thanks for the post.

    1. Not should be – could be. It’s totally individual and you take what you want from Yoga.

  5. Yoga really helps me to cope with everyday activities!
