My Spiritual Routines #InternationalYogaDay

GIFTED | Tomorrow is International Yoga Day and if there’s anything you know about me by now, it’s that Yoga is one of the biggest parts of my life. I literally couldn’t live without. Now by all means, I don’t believe that Yoga and spirituality come hand in hand. I spoke quite frankly in this post about how the Yoga retreat I went too was actually far too spiritual for me. But I definitely believe in the power of the universe, manifestation, energy and all that good stuff, so I do have some spiritual routines in my day to day life that I practice!

My Spiritual Routines

In my misconceptions of Yoga post, I mentioned about how you don’t have to be spiritual to do Yoga. And that’s true, you don’t. But there’s certainly levels of spirituality a person can have. You don’t have to believe in nor practice everything and I think it’s healthier to just jive with what you do believe.

So today I’m sharing with you some spiritual routines I practice almost every day!

Yoga & meditation

Of course I’ll start with the obvious, which is Yoga. I take my Yoga practice day by day. The practices I do very much depend on what I feel like I need that day. Some days, I just need to sweat it out and move my body. Other days, I need to relax, stretch and reflect.

Meditation is always a part of my Yoga routine however. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes at the start or end of a practice. But I deeply value these moments to just sit still, be quiet and focus on my breathing. You don’t have to be spiritual to meditate. But for me, it’s a chance to go inward and focus on my energy.

Read a card from The Universe Has Your Back oracle deck

This is a new addition to my daily spiritual routines but one that I’ve found so valuable. The Universe Has Your Back oracle cards are a deck of 52 beautifully illustrated cards with positive, inspirational and and guiding quotes on them. They help you tune in, think and reflect and remember how the universe always has your back!

I was kindly sent a deck of these cards, which you can find on Live in the Light for just £11.99. Written by Gabrielle Bernstein They come in a lovely box and are a really nice size too (bigger than a deck of playing cards), are beautifully produced and the illustrations by Micaela Ezra are stunning throughout the entire deck.

Express gratitude

Not necessarily a spiritual practice at least it doesn’t have to be. But I’ve found I express far more gratitude when I’m more in tune with my inner self and energy. I try and express gratitude every single day. No matter how bad your day is, there’s always something to be grateful for. A warm cup of tea. A chirping bird. A good film.

I like to express gratitude whilst in Savasana. Whilst breathing deeply, every exhale for 10 or so breaths I’ll think of something I’m grateful for. Either that day or just in life in general. I like to think I’m somehow sending some positive vibes to all the things and people I’m grateful for.

Say some affirmations

I’ve been saying the same set of affirmations every single morning for around a year and a half now and some of them, I genuinely feel like have manifested into my life. Whether you believe in that or not, that’s totally up to you! But I like starting my day – often before I’ve even got out of bed – with some affirmations and good intentions.

And in case you’re interested, the current affirmations I say daily are “I am worthy of living in abundance. I am worthy of having amazing opportunities. I am worthy of being happy and healthy”.

Read my manifestations

Back in October of 2017, I watched this video from Raw Alignment and it kinda changed my life. If you’re interested in manifestation, then I’d highly recommend watching this video for a clear and concise explanation and a way to start in your manifestation journey.

I followed the advice in this video and made a list of all the areas of my life and the things I’d like to manifest within those areas. Of course some of them haven’t happened yet. Some of them are nowhere close to happening. But some of them are. And again, I love starting each day reading these and solidifying them into place more and more.

I’d love to hear of any spiritual routines you do each day! Do you do any of these? Are you a spiritual person?

  2. I usually like to start the day with a little yoga, but its Saturday so I am drinking coffee in bed instead.

    1. Haha well one day off is okay! I’ve just finished my Yoga practice for today 🙂

  3. The Universe Has Your Back cards sound like such a great little booster. It’s always nice when something so simple can make you smile. I’ve heard so many things about manifestations and I’ve never tried it, maybe I should give it a go x

    1. They’re beautiful cards – I love seeing what one I’m going to get each morning and it’s even better when you get one that really resonates with you on that day!

  4. S.S. Mitchell says:

Nice list! Expressing gratitude is definitely one of my go to’s but I need to work on my affirmations.

    1. Expressing gratitude is so easy but so beneficial and rewarding!

  5. I really love yoga, I started it while I was pregnant and continued it after having bubba too xx

  6. The Universe Has Your Back cards are beautiful! I love the idea of a message each day to give some positivity, motivation and inspiration, and they are gorgeously designed too – perfect! 🙂 I’m totally with you on finding the right yoga as every day is different. At the moment I’ve been needing more gentle restorative practices, but it’s great to know the sweaty high energy ones are available when we need them too. Fab post Jenny and lovely photos! <3 xxx

    1. I love meditation!

  9. Yoga taught me to breathe correctly…

    1. Me too x

  10. Those cards are adorable!
I don’t think I really have any spiritual routines, I’m trying to practice more gratitude and I periodically think about manifesting but it isn’t something I’m good at keeping at consistently.

    1. It’s just important that we try 😌

  11. Britt K says:

I have to say, there is a noticeable difference in my attitude for the rest of the day depending on whether I do get my daily meditation or not. It really impacts where my head is at.

    1. That’s great to hear it has such an impact on you!

  12. I actually got into Yoga after reading one of your earlier posts – I’ve been slacking a bit but I’m hoping to do some yoga/light stretching to relax my muscles later today!

Meditation is actually so so helpful especially at the start of the day – at my university I had a course where the professor at the beginning of class would have 5 minutes of meditation where every student had to close their eyes and just think of absolutely nothing really, it was always interesting as there were students who came in late and would just come into 25 or so meditating students but it was really relaxing.

Positive Affirmations do the world of a difference, sometimes we can get ourselves down in a negative bubble and positive affirmations is one way I hook myself out of that bubble.

    1. Oh my god I’m so glad to hear that! 😌

  13. I find yoga & meditation really interesting. I’ve never gotten into it but I would love too. Those cards are lovely as well! Xx

    1. I’d highly recommend giving it a go x

  14. I don’t really have a spiritual routine but I do express my gratitude. I have heard a lot of amazing things about meditation and really want to get into it!

    1. Meditation is wonderful!

  15. A great post – “expressing gratitude” is something I need to do more of…it seems we exist in a world that demands me covet more and more and never take the time to appreciate what we already have….

    1. I totally agree. We always want more, more, more and sometimes forget to think about what we already have x

      1. Yes indeed…

  16. Great post! I’m a super spiritual person but not woo in any sense so it can be difficult for me to find a routine that’s meaningful, however I’ve managed to adapt tarot, crystals, and Pagan rituals to suit my beliefs which is great. Also a big fan of yoga, and I go out in nature as much as possible. Even something simple like smudging the house can make me feel so much better 💕

    1. Finding a spiritual routine to suit your individual beliefs is so important!

  17. Wow, I love the simple appeal of your cards! Something about the way the painting and the words come together is like a piece of happiness.

I pull a card from my three tarot decks every morning while reading my reminder to be a happy person that day. 😊

    1. They’re beautiful aren’t they!

      1. They are! We seem to have similar tastes!

  18. dirtythirtygir1 says:

I really feel this post, beautifully written and not too heavy on the spiritual aspect for me! Love those oracle cards

    1. Thank you so much, so glad it came across that way!

  19. I’m definitely not a spiritual person but I do need to start yoga again x

    1. You really should x

  20. Lisa's Notebook says:

I have to be honest, I’m not an especially spiritual person, and you know I don’t do yoga (sorry!) but I do think you’re right. There’s definitely something to be said for taking a few minutes each day to breathe and think about what we’re grateful for. To ground ourselves if nothing else. Thank you for that timely reminder, Jenny! X

    1. When I visit you, were going to do Yoga together! 😌 We definitely need to express gratitude more often x

  21. Your routine sounds like a beautiful way to start the day. I adore those cards! I saved that YouTube video to watch tonight. I consider myself a spiritual person. I was raised Roman Catholic but have been agnostic my entire adult life. Have a great day!

    1. Hope you like the video! 😌

  22. Those cards are such a lovely idea! I really need to give Yoga a go, it seems to help so many people xx

    Tiffany x http://www.foodandotherloves.co.uk

    1. It sure does! I’d recommend it until I’m blue in the face!

  23. I love doing yoga stretches. I do quite a lot of them for the fitness classes I go and do myself as a fitness instructor and they’re very effective for cooling down and tightening the joints after a workout. It’s great that your routine is build around a lot of positivity which is key if your everyday life is to be as good as it can be.

    1. Thank you. Yoga stretches are amazing!

  24. Thanks for sharing! I love that Oracle Deck. I really dig mediums that guide your energy and give you words that you may need to hear each day. I’m a Christian Woman, and also believe strongly in the power of energy. Yoga/stretching is a great outlet for me. As well as focusing on the positives in life.

    1. I love that you believe in both – I hate the narrow mindedness of some people!

      1. I feel you! I am even getting married today, on the pagan summer solstice holiday! I think it will bring in good strong energy for the celebration 🤗

  25. Being someone who follows the Wiccan religion, I loved this blog post. I think it’s great that you have shared more about your spiritual routines. 💜
