I love a bathroom. They’re usually one of my favourite rooms in the house and whenever I’m in a house of someone new, I always like to check out their bathroom interiors. I’ve mentioned on my blog before how I feel that bathrooms can be a really relaxing and tranquil place to be and obviously the interior decor plays a huge part in that.

I wouldn’t feel very relaxed and tranquil in a bathroom that was painted red, for example. I’d feel more like Beverly from that scene in the first IT movie (this scene, if you’re not familiar but would recommend watching if you don’t like blood) but you know, each to their own, if gruesome gory horror scenes are your jam.

My favourite interiors trends for UK bathrooms are probably more on the “basic” side as opposed to “horror movie vibe” but today I wanted to share with you some of my preferences. And if and when I have a place of my own, I’d definitely opt for one of these!

Here are some of my favourite bathroom interior trend of 2019:

Pastel shades

I love a pastel shade so chances are, I’d go for pastel pink hues in my dream bathroom interior. Certainly not the entire bathroom but perhaps one wall or certain items. Pastel shades are also super easy to pair with other colours too; gold, silver or another signature colour like navy blue. Dreamy!

Scandinavian style

If it was up to me, I’d have Scandinavian style decor in my WHOLE HOUSE. Heck, let me just move to Scandinavia to really soak up all the authentic Scandinavian style I can. Pale shades, wooden accents, a pop of colour here and there. I think raw and natural style works amazingly in a bathroom – it’d be incredibly tranquil.

Industrial and exposed materials

I think this styles can look incredible. Think exposed plumping, exposed brick work and industrial lights. Think industrial chic – because it certainly doesn’t have to look like a scaffolding site. If done correctly, it can look amazing and also a little different from decor you’d usually find in a bathroom.

Minimalism

Similar to Scandinavian style but… on speed. I love a minimal interior decor. I wish my own house and bedroom was more minimal but it’s hard when your other half literally keeps EVERYTHING. Minimal decor makes my heart happy because I HATE too much “stuff”. Which can be a problem in a bathroom that holds a lot of products.

Geometric

The thing with geometric designs is that you can incorporate them into any of the above interior designs too. So a mix of trends which could work really well. I love geometric bathroom tiles, in a pastel shade or as a feature wall in a more minimal style bathroom. Oh the possibilities!

What are your favourite bathroom interior trends? Is your own bathroom decorated in your favourite trends at the moment or are you planning to re-decorate soon?

  1. I’m so picky about bathroom design, but I feel like that should be standard for a room that is so integral to my self care! I would love a freestanding bath and lots of plants, but I also really like the geometric design that Zoella has in her bathroom haha! Minimalist is definitely the way forward.

  2. I feel like when I get my own home I’m going to be most picky about the bathroom over any other room. I have it completely planned out in my head, with lots of light and a freestanding tub. I really like geometric shapes too, a bit like Zoella’s bathroom but I’d prefer a lighter colour! See, I told you I was picky, haha!

  3. I loooove the idea of navy and pale pink – I’ve been saying for a while I’d like that to be my next colour scheme for my bedroom. Currently we’ve got wooden storage and copper accents in our bathroom which I love!

  4. I would basically give up a limb for a deep clawfoot bathtub! I love a marble counter but everything else quite classic and elegant. Lots of good lighting but with the option to have gentle mood lighting for a cosy bath, and a separate shower! Underfloor heating would be a must for me too!

  5. I love a scandanvian look in a bathroom it’s so cosy. It’s so important for me to have a big bath in my room

  6. Totally with you on Scandinavian-style bathrooms! I also love bathrooms that are filled with plants and things like salt lamps and crystals – I love the whole hippy-style vibe you can get with them. I once used a bathroom that had rocks in the sink as a kind of drainage system, and I thought that was pretty cool!

  7. I just realised I left you a comment on this post and it never went through! I don’t have my own place yet, but I love reading interior design posts and making mental notes for future reference. I’ve recently been to Copenhagen and I fell in love with Scandinavian design. I’ve always loved pastel shades too, both in clothing and interior design!

  8. I love pastel colours in bathrooms, but I’m also such a sucker for the original white bathroom! I massive love minimalist bathrooms too x

  9. When I was looking around flats last year or so to move into I had to make sure the bathroom was one of the best rooms haha. It has to have a bath! But I like the pastel colour look too, they’re calming and pretty colours!

  10. I love a bit of minimalism! Pastel shades have always been a favourite of mine when it comes to bathrooms too. Pics like the ones you’ve used always give me serious bathroom envy! x

  11. I love the idea of a Scandinavian Spa inspired bathroom! Low lighting with a free standing bath, exposed beams (The farmers wife in me I suppose haha!) and lots of natural materials for decor like wood, slate, even old rope from ships turned into decor would be on my list! Bathrooms are often my favourite rooms in the house, and they were the first things we changed when we moved in to our current housing. It cant be my dream bathroom but it’s as close as it’s going to get!

  12. I love the sound of a mix between minimalism and pastel shades! Like you, too much stuff makes me stressed especially in such a small place like a bathroom!

  13. Those are some really good choices! I’ve recently been to Copenhagen and I fell in love with Scandinavian style. However, I don’t have my own place yet, so I mostly look at other people’s content and make mental notes for future reference xx
