AD // Over the last year, I’ve created a few pieces of content around date ideas, including Virtual Date Night Ideas and Date Night Ideas For Couples During Lockdown but today I’m getting a little more niche and talking about date ideas for gamers! Because gamer girls need cute date night ideas too.

Date Ideas For Gamers

I think it’s fab when you meet someone who has shared interests with you. Although they say opposites attract, which can often be the case, shared interests really can help bring a relationship even closer. Take me and my own boyfriend for example…

We couldn’t be any different as people. I hate being the center of attention and he loves it. He’s a night owl and I’m a morning person. He hates asking for things and I’m the first person to ask anyone anything. We really are opposites. But we have SO MANY shared interests, including Motorsport, our taste in films and gaming.

Although we tend to enjoy different types of games at different times, the fact remains that gaming is a big part of both of our lives. In fact, as I’m writing this, he’s playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and I’m quite content watching him because I BLOODY LOVE THAT GAME.

Now if you’re a gaming couple, I’ll assume that you’re both a bit nerdy. Perhaps you like to try new things and delve into Fantasy worlds and get lost in your imagination. At least, that’s what I’m like! So these date ideas for gamers will incorporate a lot of those things.

Gamers Dates gamer dating app is the perfect place to look if you’re a gamer yourself and you’re looking to find love with someone who also loves gaming as much as you do! And when you find that special person, here are some great date ideas for you both to enjoy!

date ideas for gamers

7 date ideas for gamers:

Play video games together

Let’s start with the obvious one but clearly the best one on the list and that’s simply have a game night together! Play games together. Either against each other or taking it in turns. Whatever floats your boat. If you both love games, a simple game night is the perfect date night idea for gamers. You can’t get much more authentic than that.

Furthermore, for couples who enjoy gaming but may not be physically together, playing online games like Spades against each other provides an engaging and interactive way to connect virtually. Through these online platforms, partners can compete head-to-head, adding an exciting dimension to their game night while fostering friendly competition and shared experiences despite geographical distance.

Go retro!

Want to mix up your game date nights? Spend an evening going retro instead! Bust out the PlayStation 1 games and get nostalgic. Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Team Racing, even the freaking Dance Mat! Have fun with it. You might even want to consider some real money games from gry na prawdziwe pieniądze.

Visit an arcade

If you want to get out of the house, then visiting an arcade is the perfect fun date idea for a gaming couple. Of course with the situation in the world right now, you might be restricted with this one for a while but definitely an option to keep in mind for the future when things return to normal!

Consider doing an escape room

I’d love to pluck up the courage to do an escape room. I’m not sure my nerves would take it! But it’s a great idea for a super fun and different type of date idea to do as a couple! Especially a gaming couple who I can imagine could get very competitive with each other! Heck, even have a reward for who figures it out first!

Visit a gaming convention

Again, another option which might not be possible right now due to the current climate but when things go back to normal, attending a gaming convention together would be a super cool and fun date idea. Maybe even for a special occasion like your anniversary? I’ve watched MANY Red Dead Redemption panel talks on YouTube from various conventions! I’d absolutely love to go.

Have a gaming movies night

So, you might not fancy playing games but why don’t you watch gaming themed movies instead? This way you can also snuggle up and get cozy with a ton of snacks too. Some movies to consider under this umbrella could be: Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Need For Speed, Warcraft or Assassin’s Creed!

Get offline

And finally, if you want to still be competitive but don’t fancy playing online, then busting out the old fashioned board games is a great alternative for date night! I love a board game and sometimes it’s nice to get away from screens and do something a little different.

This can include a variety of erotic games that are specifically designed for couples. If you don’t know how to play these games, the School of Squirt’s coach, Laura Rose Halliday is the best person to ask about this!

Date Ideas For Gamers

Gaming is so much fun and the great thing is, is that there’s so many areas of gaming to explore and enjoy. From solo game play, RPG, board games, gambling games such as https://trustedcasinos360.com/reviews/stelario/, retro gaming and a WHOLE bunch of different styles and genres of games.

It’s such a great activity to do together but also great to do by yourself, if you need a few hours of uninterrupted alone time.

  1. My boyfriend and I have been playing a lot of board games lately. Our new favorite, which is great for two players: “7 Wonders Duel”. Though I would advise throwing some co-op games into the mix as well to remind yourselves that you’re in it together. We’ve been playing a fun “Choose Your Own Adventure” story-driven board game, which let’s us work together as a team 🙂

  2. These are great ideas! Both me & my boyfriend love gaming & we’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance together on the GameCube! We haven’t played a board game in a while so we should definitely do that one night!

  3. This is CUTE – I may have to suggest a couple to Arran so he feels like I’m taking an interest haha xx

  4. I love these idea Jenny! My boyfriend and I are gamers, and he’s recently been playing some retro N64 games with me. It’s a lot of fun. We also love board games, arcades and watching each other play Red Dead Redemption 2 as well. We havent watched many video game movies yet though, so I’ll definitely be suggesting that one.

      1. Haha, my boyfriend is a better gang shooter, but I’m better at hunting / tracking animals, and the side quests.

  5. The only game I’ve ever been into is The Sims which I don’t think counts so I can’t say I’ve ever thought of any of these but going to an arcade still seems super fun. I think going retro is a great idea too x

  6. Love all these ideas, definitely something that would work for us. I’d love to do an escape room at some point, not sure about my partner though.

  7. I’m not even a gamer but I have to admit that some of these sound like fun, especially having an old-school game kind of evening with the board games. And I love the fact that there is a dating app just for gamers. Again, wouldn’t work for me, but that’s so cool. This was such a fun post, even if you’re not in that niche yourself. Thanks!

  8. I really wish to play video games and meet someone who is also interested and play around with me… These are some amazing ideas i’ll keep in mind for future. 😬

  9. Love these ideas! Me and my boyfriend both love playing games so will often play a multi player game together or I’ll just sit and watch him play something whilst I’m on my Switch or something! I like the idea of watching movies based off games, I feel like I haven’t watched that many! xx

    1. Ahh that’s fab! Yeah we tend to just watch each other too. He’s playing Red Dead Redemption 2 again at the moment and I like watching him and telling him what he’s doing wrong (cos I’m definitely better at that one than he is hahaha!)

  10. I love games so much, including good old board games and I’d definitely love to visit an escape room or have an arcade day when possible. There are some really cool places out there too, like retro arcades and themed escape rooms so it’s quite exciting! It’s really sweet that you and your boyfriend share some similar interests and can bond over the same things, I think it definitely makes it easier to plan things since you’re on the same page xx

  11. An escape room would be the best date! I have done a few and would love to do some more!

  13. These are all brilliant ideas! I love playing games, I recently played all 4 Uncharted games till the end in a month recently. I have never been to a gaming convention before, sounds fun.

  14. Jenny, these ideas are phenomenal! My husband is a big gamer and I like games too though I’m more content watching him than playing myself usually. Some of these are things we already love to do together (e.g. going to arcades) but it’s also given me some ideas for a games themed birthday celebration! So thank you so much for the inspiration, really appreciate it! 🙂

    P. S. I don’t think I could handle an escape room either. The thought of it makes me anxious enough!

  15. Great ideas! I love a date at the arcades with my husband! I’ll be so glad when things get back to normal. I’ve never thought about doing an escape room date, good shout! 😊 x

  16. I think these are such great ideas! In the current circumstances we all need more activities to do at home together, will Definetely be coming back to this list!

  17. I love the idea of doing a retro video games night! I don’t particularly understand half of the current games my husband plays but we often have an old fashioned game night with card and board games which is always fun. I remember over the summer at uni when we had no money we ended up playing House of the Dead on the Wii and completed it in a couple of days 😂 was such good fun! Xx

  18. I loved this post!! My boyfriend and I are massive gamers and when a 3 floor arcade opened in our home city of Liverpool we were over the moon! If you’re ever in Liverpool you should check it out! It is the perfect date!

  19. These are great ideas, although I’m feeling a bit left out because these are things that Rob and F do together all the time!

I do try and watch them so I suppose I’m involved.

We’ve done an escape room and we really enjoyed it x
