AD Collaborative Post // It is no surprise that the past year has been full of new inventions and trends during the pandemic, with many people adapting their way of living to suit the new restrictions. From video meetings to home-schooling, it has been a year like no other! It is fair to say that we have all found lockdown difficult at times, but there has been one unspoken saviour that has proven to be of massive relieve for many families – the humble garden room.

During this pandemic, we have all needed more space at home for schooling, work or fitness. Property renovations can be costly and time-consuming and who has actively wanted more stress during this pandemic?! Creating your own bespoke garden room is the perfect solution, with minimal to no disruption to your day-to-day life as you normally find with home renovation projects. And the best part? They are considerably cheaper and can be built in a matter of days rather than months!

A bespoke garden room makes for the perfect living space, whether you need a guest annexe for family members or a studio to pursue your creative hobbies. It can be completely tailored to what you need and your preferences. For busy working professionals, a home office may be exactly what is needed in current times, so you can separate your work and family life whilst working from home. A garden room office can also be a great place to host meetings if you run your own business too.

Depending on the size of your garden, you can have a garden room of any size to fit your requirements. You can create a fully functional flat in your garden, fully equipped with a bedroom, en-suite and kitchen area. Or, if you need it for work, you can create a smaller office or an artist’s studio if you are a creative. You decide how many rooms you want and need, and your garden room is built to your exact preferences.

Garden room gyms have grown in popularity over the past couple of months, as gyms have been shut and the need for movement and an endorphin rush is paramount for us all. You can equip your home gym with an air-conditioning unit, a wall of mirrors, and different storage options for your equipment. To ensure your garden room gym is well ventilated, you can choose from different types of door options like bi-folding or sliding doors. At Hawksbeck Garden Rooms, your surveyor will discuss all of the options available to you that suit your tastes and your budget.

Most importantly, a garden room allows you to have some important YOU time, being a multi-functional space that can give you the room to workout, relax or just have some peace and quiet. If designed with the correct building materials, like the Structurally Insulated Panel’s at Hawksbeck, your garden room can last over 60 years and passes all regulations to allow you, or your guests, to live inside comfortably.

After the year we have all had, we all deserve a bit more space for ourselves to relax, and a garden room can be the lockdown saviour you never knew you needed.

  1. If we had a bigger garden it would be really cool to have a creative space like this outside, to be honest we do have our own version of what we call a garden room here though, an area looking out onto the garden surrounded by windows. x

  2. I would love some form of garden room…I would turn it into my crafting space! I bet in the summer it will be fab too, as you can get the outdoor-in sort of vibes!

  3. Would love to have a garden gym. We have a balcony overlooking the sea so doing yoga on the balcony is perhaps as close I can get that. Not complaining 🙂

  5. I’d love to have my own little snug office room at the bottom of the garden if I ever could, would be fab!!

  6. I flipping love the idea of having a garden room as a home office but alas it is not currently meant to be. Having that separate space just away from everything is so important at the moment. Another great post.
