ad collaborative post // All people wonder as they get older: “how can I make myself appear more youthful?” While ageing is a natural process that you shouldn’t shy away from, it is nice to feel like you’ve still got a youthful glow as you approach middle or old age.
The problem is, there are so many promises made by skincare brands, cosmetic surgeons, supplement companies and personal trainers that it’s enough to make your head spin! It is almost impossible to figure out what will actually help your skin appear younger for longer.
We won’t provide all the answers you’ll ever need in this blog, but we will cover three key ways to get younger-looking skin. Let’s get started!
Hydration and fresh foods.
The easiest way to achieve younger-looking skin in a natural way is to consume healthy, nutrient-rich foods and plenty of water. We live in a world where processed foods are everywhere, and while indulging in treats is never a bad thing, you need to make sure that your macronutrients – those you consume the most of – are natural.
Fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and animal products are far healthier than the processed versions of those things. High sodium processed foods will age your skin by dehydrating it, making it more difficult for your cells to appear plump.
Plus, drinking water is a simple and effective way to de-age your skin. Make sure you are drinking at least two litres of water per day – this way, you can maintain your cell hydration and give your skin a plump, firm appearance.
Regular facial treatments.
Regular professional treatments are fantastic for ageing skin. Not only will the products that are used on your skin be of high quality, such as a chemical face peel, but a professional facialist will massage your face. Facial massage stimulates blood flow to your face, helping with cell regeneration making you appear more youthful.
If you are looking to make a significant investment in your skin as you age, a facial once a month or more can be extremely beneficial to your skin’s health and appearance.
SPF, SPF, SPF!
Wear sunscreen. No ifs, no buts. Even if you live on Rain Island, also known as the UK, daily sunscreen is absolutely crucial if you want to prevent signs of ageing.
Most day creams nowadays include SPF, meaning you won’t even need to buy a separate product to put on over your moisturiser. UV rays damage your skin permanently, increasing the appearance of lines and posing a greater risk of skin cancer.
By wearing at least SPF15 every day, you will be investing in your skin long term. Even if you are young enough to have beautiful, line-free skin now, you will thank yourself in twenty years for wearing daily sunscreen!
