ad // It’s been a long ol’ time since I wrote any proper content about blogging. My last post that really looked into blogging was titled, I Don’t Actually Know Anything About Blogging, which should explain where my head has been at with it over the last few years.

I still have a category full of blogging advice, mostly directed at newer bloggers. I still like helping newer bloggers find their feet and if I can do that through my content, then that’s great. After 10 years of this slog, I’d like to think I have some valuable advice to show for it.

But back in 2020 in particular was when the “blogging guru” trend started rising. Having been hit with the pandemic, everyone wanted to make money from home and if you already had a blog then great, you’ve already got your foot in the door.

So anyone with a bit of experience was offering up advice left, right and centre. Sharing affiliate links until they were blue in the face. Creating eBooks upon eBooks upon eBooks. It was a LOT.

And of course some of that advice really was great and helpful for a lot of people – I learned a lot about Pinterest in that time. But some of it wasn’t, sadly. Some of it was rehashed from other people. Some people was asking for money for advice you could readily find on the internet.

That being said, I absolutely feel like there is a place for blogging advice, eBooks, courses etc. in this industry and whilst a lot of people – myself included have shied away from writing about it, there are people still in this industry who REALLY know their sh*t, who you want to be listening to.

Which is where today’s post finally gets to it’s point.

What is the Influencer Blogging 101 course?

Over the last few weeks I’ve been checking out the Influencer Blogging 101 blog course, ran by the lovely Gillian. The Influencer Blogging 101 is a full blogging course that covers everything you need to know about starting a blog.

This course is absolutely for you, if:

  • You don’t YET have a blog and want to start a professional blog from scratch and want someone to talk you through the process and all the important stuff you should know
  • If you’re ready to transform your existing blog into a professional, successful and monetize your blog. If you’re ready to make big changes and implement all Gillian has to offer

And for full transparency, I don’t personally think this course is for you, if:

  • You’re already an established blogger, with a following and decent traffic and especially if you’re already a full-time blogger
  • If you only use your blog as an online diary and have no interest in monetizing or growing

What’s involved in the Influencer Blogging 101 course?

Short answer: everything.

Long answer: You’re getting over 10 categories worth of topics to help you start a blog. Starting from the very foundations (literally, it’s called “foundations”) all the way to starting an email list, affiliate marketing, SEO, media kits and much, much more.

Each category is split into different sections, as you can see in the examples below:

Which is really helpful as it makes the whole course much more manageable, especially for new bloggers or those who haven’t even yet started a website. I know if I was in the beginning of the process, I would have loved this set up for a course.

Each category as a short video from Gillian, they’re short and to-the-point, which is great. There’s no beating around the bush to get to the point of the actual video.

And each video is about something specific. Again, you can get a gist of this is the examples above.

Gillian herself is really lovely to listen to. She’s funny and has a nice voice (absolutely not the make or break of a blogging course but I wanted to mention that because you WILL be listening to a LOT of her within this course!)

And it’s also abundantly clear that she seriously knows what she’s talking about.

Within the monetize category alone, you get 3 sub-categories (blog ads, affiliate marketing and sponsored posts) and you’ll also find downloadable content and checklists littered throughout the course as well.

Even though I’ve been blogging for 10 years this year (crikey), I still learnt quite a bit from this course, particularly the section on Cornerstone Content. I found this really enlightening as this isn’t something I’ve heard many people talk about before.

So although I said at the start that it’s best for beginners and those who are JUST starting a blog (and it is), you can definitely find some value if you’re a little more experienced (but not that knowledgeable about the “important stuff” – not a criticism, I fall into that category well and truly).

It’s also worth noting that some of the things Gillian recommends are very specific, clearly because she uses them herself and has a good experience with them.

But for example, under the Email Lists category, she has a lot of videos explaining how to use Flodesk. Flodesk is just one of the mailing list platforms you can use for your blog but if you already get on well with another platform (like MailChimp for example), then this section might not be relevant to you.

What is the costs?

So whilst the course isn’t cheap, it does include everything you’ll need to make your money back – and much more.

It’s important to remember that blogging is a long process. SEO is a long process. Building a blog doesn’t happen over night. But to have someone help guide you through every aspect you need is incredibly beneficial.

The cost of the whole course launch price is $747 but you have the option to pay in 3 instalments, to make it more manageable to you.

There is also a Facebook support group for everyone who purchases the course, which will be incredibly helpful to chat with those who are going through the same process.

Use code JENNIFER, to also get 10% off your order.

If you’re serious about blogging and creating a successful and money-making blog, then this course is definitely worth considering.

You need to know you’re buying into someone who knows what they’re talking about and Gillian is exactly that person.

The lessons are short-ish but contain enough information for you to learn from. Everything is sectioned out into individual modules, so it makes it easily digestible and more manageable. Perfect to work through at your own pace and in your own time.

And don’t forget to use code JENNIFER to get 10% off!

  1. I found a lot of courses when I first started blogging two years ago, but I chose to only read the free ones and learn what I could from their experiences (seo, aff marketing, monetizing, etc). Honestly, this is interesting course especially for beginners if they want to create a professional blog 😀 Thanks for sharing your review x

  2. I love your transparency in this post. I think it’s important that I mention that the blog post you did titled “I don’t actually know anything about blogging” is one of my favourite blog posts on your blog. This looks like a great course.

  3. When I started blogging 6 years ago I wasn’t aware of any courses like this, I just had to jump in and crack on. TBH I would have found this SO helpful, particularly with regard to affiliate marketing (which I HATE) and, like you, I only heard about Cornerstone Content recently too. Great review of what seems like a really worthwhile course Jenny x

  4. This course sounds like a must try if you want to uo your skills and I really like that it could be good also for someone who is not a beginner but wants to hone some skills!

  5. Fantastic post! I like how you’ve highlighted who should use this course. There are so many courses out there, so it’s important to choose the right one for your skill level. This sounds like a great choice x
