Top Tips For Using Get Blogged

Referral link // I’ve been using the website Get Blogged to land sponsored post opportunities more or less since they first started. Get Blogged have come such a long way since then and it’s been amazing to see them grow. For newer bloggers or those who are just getting into working with brands or writing sponsored blog posts, Get Blogged is such a great place to start to help get you those first collaborations.

My first sponsored post I got with Get Blogged was in June of 2018 and since then, I’ve had over 30 separate opportunities with various brands on everything from dating advice, artificial intelligence and more. Over the last year in particular, Get Blogged have grown so much that they’ve had to advertise job roles for additional members to join their team.

And in 2020, I was also hired by Get Blogged as one of their copywriters, which I’m absolutely over the moon with. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to write more content for the Get Blogged clients and expand my career even further, thanks to them. The team is also bloody lovely!

So as you can see, I’m a big fan of Get Blogged. And I think it’s an really solid starting point for any bloggers who are wanting to start working with brands. Perhaps you’re not quite ready to email brands and pitch to them directly yourself yet and if that’s that case, then Get Blogged will be perfect for you!

So as an experienced Get Blogged user, here are my top tips for using the platform!

Work on your DA score

Get Blogged works on a DA basis. So if your DA is 27 you can’t apply for the opportunities for DA 30+ and so on. So working on your blog’s DA score is important if you want more opportunities to apply for and for higher rates. The higher your DA, the more you’re paid. However since their conception, the payments from Get Blogged have improved dramatically, which is great.

Join the Facebook group

There’s a dedicated Facebook group for Get Blogged users which often gets updated when there’s new assignments that need filling or if there’s anything urgent that needs done. It’s also a great place to keep tabs on anything exciting going on with Get Blogged, such as giveaways or job opportunities.

Read the assignments carefully

Now onto actually using the platform and applying for all those blogging opportunities! You’re definitely going to want to read the assignment carefully before you apply for anything. They often have a brief on the kind of blog post they want, e.g “A post on the effects 2020 has had on dating” as well as the links and anchor text they want and any additional shares they need.

Make sure you read the assignments carefully before you actually apply for them. Brainstorm ideas that you can pitch for the particular assignment and make sure it’s a post you’re able to write and actually want to write before you apply.

Work on your pitches and be creative

Your pitches on Get Blogged are what either get you the opportunities or not, so using Get Blogged is a FANTASTIC chance for you to work on pitching ideas and getting creative. Although some assignments are after a more specific type of blog post, there will be others that you can showcase your creativity. And brands LOVE IT when bloggers get creative and show initiative and don’t just follow the crowd.

For your pitches, it’s always worth talking about why you’re suitable for the opportunity as well as the idea you have and how the client is the perfect fit. As well as any additional information you think they might want to know (i.e if you’ve had experience yourself with that type of client).

Know when you need to submit your work by

All work on Get Blogged needs to be submitted by a certain date. So this is a great opportunity to learn how to work to a deadline if that’s something you’ve never done before. When accepted for an assignment, you’ll have 48 hours to accept it via email (if you don’t, you lose the opportunity) and then a further 4 or so days to complete it and get it live on your blog.

Check the website regularly

Get Blogged gets updated with new assignments fairly regularly, so it’s ALWAYS worth checking the site on a weekly basis in case you missed something or something new has been added!

Don’t forget to check the Marketplace too!

There’s an additional Marketplace on the Get Blogged website which was introduced in 2020 which allows you to reply directly to brands requests that are posted on there. These might range from hosting guest content, link insertions or social media promotion for the brand. There’s always new stuff being added to the Marketplace, so make sure you check it regularly.
