ad pr invited | I moved to Lincolnshire at the end of August, just in time for the weather to get crisp, the jumpers to come out and the pumpkin spice lattes to start flowing. So when we were invited to Bell’s Pumpkin Patch for one of their absolute extravaganza weekends, it was the perfect time to start fully embracing Autumn!
Bell’s Pumpkin Patch, located at Bell’s Gardening Outlet in Boston, Lincolnshire is the East of England’s largest pumpkin patch and this year it was even bigger and better than ever. There’s so much to do for the whole family, the term “pumpkin patch” doesn’t really do it justice.
So what can you find at Bell’s Pumpkin Patch?
Pumpkin picking
Let’s get the obvious out of the way first, they have two large fields for pumpkin picking. They harvest around 2 million pumpkins, gourds and squashes from their own farm every year.
Makers market
The makers market was my favourite part of our visit and is lined with various local businesses selling everything from artwork, crystals, cheese, candles and more. We purchased a few things from these independents, as it’s so nice to shop small and this was a great way to showcase some great local business and talent.
Tractor rides
Subject to weather conditions on the day, if you’re lucky enough to have nice weather then you may be able to get on one of their fab tractor rides around their huge pumpkin fields and learn more about how they harvest their 2 million pumpkins!
Food and drink
There’s a really great range of food and drink stalls at Bell’s Pumpkin Patch where you can get coffees, pumpkin spice everything, loaded fries, crepes and more.
Pumpkin displays
They’ve really gone all out with their beautiful pumpkin displays this year, scattered around the venue, including a Barbie vs Wednesday themed area where you can get a photo in the Barbie car or with Wednesday Addams!
Funfair rides
There’s a few funfair rides available including swings and a carousel, perfect for the kids and the big kids because we definitely went on the swings and loved it!
Pumpkin carving
If you don’t want to carve your pumpkins at home, then use their dedicated Pimp Your Pumpkin tent to carve and decorate your picked pumpkins there at the patch! When you book, you can also get a free pumpkin carving kit to take home.
There’s much more scattered around the farm, including a pumpkin canon, a pumpkin rodeo, tiny tractors for the kids plus the tiny tots area, the Maize Maze, circus skills tent and more.
It really is a full day thing!
How much does it cost?
It’s £6.00 admission into the patch but everything else, such as the tractor ride, funfair rides and everything you purchase from the makers market is obviously an additional cost.
However, considering how big it is and how much fun it is, especially for kids, I definitely think it’s worth every penny! Check out the Bell’s Pumpkin Patch website to find out more about how to book.
Any tips?
- Wear wellies: When we went, the pumpkin patch was REALLY boggy and completely impassable at some points, unless you were wearing wellies
- Go hungry: You don’t want to miss out on the food and drink stalls!
- Take some hand sanitizer: They only have port-a-loos available there and we all know what they can be like sometimes, so take some hand sanitizer so you’re covered
- Book your tractor ride time slot early: They get booked up as the tractor can obviously only take a certain amount of people in one go and they only go every 30 minutes
- Take your dog!: It’s very dog friendly there and we saw LOADS of doggies whilst we were there, so don’t leave your pooch behind
If you’re in Lincolnshire, I’d highly recommend checking out Bell’s Pumpkin Patch, especially if you have kids! Even if you don’t get to it this year, it’s definitely something to put on your Autumn bucket list for 2024.
