I’m a huge film and TV buff and am always on the lookout for new things to watch. There’s nothing better than being immersed in a good film or show (apart from a book, of course…) and I’m into so man different genres that it’s usually quite easy for me to find a film I love. I was brainstorming blog post ideas and wanted to talk more about the films I’ve been watching so today, I’ve decided to do a quick round-up of all the films and TV I’ve watched in January with super mini reviews for each of them. I thought reviewing a film in 1 or 2 sentences would be quite the challenge so I hope you enjoy!
The Bourne Identity (2002): First time watching the Bourne films, don’t know why as I love Matt Damon. Bit action-y but on a whole I really enjoyed it. Out of 10: 8.5
The Bourne Supremacy (2004): You see where this is going. Not much to say about this one other than it wasn’t as good as the original (what is) but still a solid film. Out of 10: 7.5
The Bourne Ultimatum (2007): Liked this one a bit more than number 2 because it was partially set in London and I like seeing places I recognise. Series still strong. Out of 10: 8
25th Hour (2002): Love Edward Norton. This film was amazing, right up my street. Eye-opening and beautifully shot. Some really incredible scenes. Love, love, love. Out of 10: 9.5
Birdman (2014): Amazing cast. Emma Stone rocks. Interesting concept and exceptionally unique film being made to look like it was shot in 1 take. Didn’t quite understand it fully – quite ambitious. Out of 10: 6
The Omen (2006): Not as scary as I would have liked but as re-makes go, it was pretty decent. Can’t watch Michael Gambon without seeing Dumbledore. Out of 10: 5.5
London Has Fallen (2016): Fantastic cinematography. Fantastic cast. Great storyline. But not for me. Too ‘all guns blazing’ so wasn’t really into it, sorry. Out of 10: 4.5
Breaking the Girls (2013): Acting was questionable, could have been shot better but I really enjoyed I. Interesting storyline, lots of twists. My kind of film. Out of 10: 8
Men of Honor (2000): Desperately didn’t want to watch this, didn’t think I would like it. So glad I did. Amazing film. Amazing cast. Amazing messages. Out of 10: 9
American Horror Story: Hotel (2015): Fucking brilliant. Aside from series 1, probably my favourite series. Loved every single second of it and Lady Gaga absolutely slayed it. Out of 10: A big fat 10
The Bone Collector (1999): Angelina Jolie is such a beautiful actress. Proper crime drama; reminded me of a James Patterson novel. Very clever, really enjoyed it. Out of 10: 8.5
The Girl on the Train (2015): I didn’t read the book so didn’t have any idea what to expect. Emily Blunt was fantastic. Storyline was a bit… Something. Think it was probably better suited to a book. Overall though, I enjoyed it. Out of 10: 6.5
