AD – This post contains gifted items but all thoughts and opinions are my own
Learning is really important to me. If I find myself in a position where I’m going through the motions and not expanding my mind, I tend to feel a bit stuck. So I was keen to take part in the Red Letter Days campaign to allow us to learn a new skill from online courses. September is the month of learning, so this is the perfect time to talk about the benefits of online learning and talk about the course I chose!

The benefits of online learning
Firstly, let’s just quickly cover some of the benefits of online learning. Online learning opens doors to new opportunities — for example, online Korean lessons let you study conveniently from home while still gaining valuable skills. I’m sure there’s many more than what I’m going to list here but for the sake of keeping the post a respectable length, here are some benefits of online learning:
Flexibility: Obviously one of the main benefits of online learning is flexibility and the ability for students to juggle their learning among other tasks. Being able to fit your learning into your schedule – which is probably already busy – is a huge benefit.
It’s more accessible: Online learning can be incredible for accessibility in terms of physical and mental conditions. For someone who can’t get out and about easily, online learning offers them the same opportunities. Similar with mental conditions, such as anxiety or agoraphobia, which might make going into college more difficult.
Lower costs: Although it can still be quite pricey to learn online, it’s no doubt cheaper than physically attending college or University. You don’t have to think about travel expenses or additional living costs other that what you already pay for your own home.
Incredible choice of courses and topics: This point takes me nicely onto the rest of the post. Online learning is endless. There are an incredible amount of different topics and courses to choose from from a variety of different online learning providers such as SkillScouter. So it’s much more convenient to find one that works for you.
Red Letter Days online learning experiences
I was kindly offered one of the Red Letter Days online courses to work through for this blog post and before we get on to the course I actually chose, I just want to talk about the huge range of exciting online courses they have available. It took me a good while to choose the course I wanted because there was so much choice and I was interested in SO MANY of them!
There’s definitely something for everyone, depending on the type of course you want to do. If you want something fun, there’s courses such as an Online Chocolate Truffle Making Webinar. If you want something to expand your own career or career prospects, you might try a photography workshop, an online digital marketing diploma or a tax accounting course.
Or you might chose something that will benefit you in life and help you gain valuable skills, such as pet first aid, mental health awareness, meditation, visualization and stress reduction or tarot card reading. There really is something for everyone, whatever you want to learn!
Anxiety Awareness Diploma Online Course For One
So eventually, after changing my mind a few times, I settled on the Anxiety Awareness Diploma Online Course for One. I wanted to chose something that made sense to me – not just a random course that wouldn’t actually provide any substance to my life and career. Obviously anxiety is a big part of my life so I finally decided on this course.

The course itself is split into 10 modules, all around 70 minutes long, although some are a big longer. The modules cover everything from:
- External Causes of Anxiety
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
- Panic Attacks, Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia
- Social Anxiety Disorder
- Anxiety Therapies and Treatments
and much more. Each module is written (no videos), has small 10 minute written tasks for you to do throughout (usually 3 per module) as well as a 30 minute worksheet to complete at the end of the module with 3 questions to test what you’ve learned. The thing I liked about this course was that it’s completely available to take at your own pace. You don’t need to complete anything by a certain date, nor do the worksheets get marked. So it’s a pretty stress-free course.
At the end of the course, you’re required to take a 30 question multiple choice test, to determine whether you pass or not and obtain your certificate. At the end of the course, you’ll be issued with the Anxiety Awareness Diploma, which you can either print and save by yourself or get posted to you for a fee.
Although I have a lot of experience with anxiety anyway, I learned a lot from this course and found it really interesting. I love the stats and figures provided and actually discovered a couple of anxiety therapies I’ve never heard of before, which I’d love to look into further.
It was mega easy to navigate and work through. Right from purchasing the course on Red Letter Days to actually working through the course itself. If you’re looking to do some additional learning after reading about the benefits of online learning, I’d definitely recommend checking out Red Letter Days huge range of exciting and interesting courses!
