Office Renovation: Finding the Perfect Paint Colour w/ Lick Home

AD – This is an advertorial but all thoughts are my own

It honestly seems like a MILLION years ago that the renovation on my home office started. Thanks to delays and a freaking pandemic, we’re finally at the decorating stage of the project. Just 9 months later than originally anticipated. But as they say, better late than never, right? And I’m so excited to finally be at this stage because who doesn’t love decorating?

The whole process has been a real experience; from the building of the office from scratch, sorting out the concrete to picking out paint colours and everything in-between. We’ve had to hire a skip, have our garden dug up figure out which types of concrete to use and so much more but it’s going to be SO worth all the fuss!

And like the Universe conspired to bring us together, I’ve been able to work with Lick Home on the painting stage of this project. I’d heard great things about Lick paint so I was excited to try them out for myself and hopefully find the perfect colour for my office. Spoiler alert: I did.

I was kindly sent a paint colour of my choice along with a full decorating kit and offered a colour consultation for this collaboration. So I’m excited to share my whole experience of working with Lick as well as the products and of course, that PERFECT colour I finally found!

My experience with the Lick colour consultation

So this collaboration start with a colour consultation with one of Lick’s colour experts. The process was incredibly simple. The session lasts for half an hour (although they are able to accommodate more time if you need help with multiple rooms) and is taken via a Whatsapp video chat. You pick the time and the date and get an confirmation email and voila!

My video colour consultation with Lick was with Sam and she was absolutely lovely. It was a very casual and relaxed call and I felt like I could chat very easily with her. She completely understood why I wanted the colour I wanted and my reasoning for wanting to decorate in a certain way. She had some incredible suggestions of her own as well which I’m definitely going to take on board when it comes to the finishing touches.

I told her the type of colour I was thinking of and literally the FIRST colour she showed me was perfect. She knew exactly what I wanted. I’d been looking around other places for a colour that resonated with me and I just couldn’t find it and I knew I wouldn’t be happy unless I did.

After the consultation I received a colour presentation from Sam, where she threw together some examples of offices with my colour on the walls along with client notes of what we went through during the consultation. Below is an example of one of the pages from the amazing presentation Sam sent me.

What I received from Lick

A few weeks after my colour consultation with Sam, I was sent one 2l tin of paint in the colour of my choice along with a full decorating kit from Lick to help out with the renovation of my office. My office isn’t that big, so this size paint should be just enough. Luckily with the quality of the paint being so high, you only really need one coat.

I also chose the eggshell finish of paint, which essentially has the same shine as an eggshell (imagine that). They also sell a matte finish but I decided to opt for eggshell because I just prefer it with a slight shine. I’m sure the matte is just as gorgeous though!

So what’s the colour and how does it look?

Well as you can see from the colour presentation above, I chose the colour Green 01. A beautiful, muted, sage green with a hint of soft grey. When I was picking my colour scheme, green came to mind straight away. Being an outdoor office, I wanted it to have an outdoorsy feel but at the same time as looking sophisticated and professional. And I think Green 01 encompasses all of that.

I was searching high and low for the perfect green. I didn’t want it too dark or too light. Nor too “baby green” that it looked more like a nursery than an office. As soon as I explained this to Sam, she knew exactly what I meant and this green hit the nail on the head. It was EXACTLY what I envisioned.

Obviously my office is still in the renovation stages right now so I can’t see what the colour looks like along with the rest of my decor, like my desk and furniture but as for the colour itself, I absolutely love it and I couldn’t be happier. It’s such a beautiful and calming colour – exactly what I needed in a room where I’m going to be spending a large majority of my day.

Thank you so much to Lick Home for providing the paint to help me with my renovation project. We all know that renovations can cost quite a bomb so this has really helped and it’s also provided me with my PERFECT COLOUR that I’m going to be so happy sitting in going forward.

Have you ever used Lick before? What do you think of my colour choice? How is your own office decorated? Let me know!
