I signed up for NowTV late last year and the ONLY REASON I did so was because I wanted to watch And Just Like That, the new series of Sex and the City. I loved Sex and the City in my early twenties and there was no way on EARTH I was missing seeing the girls back on the screen. It was like coming home *cheese*.
However, once I’d caught up on all the currently available episodes of And Just Like That (I cannot remember the last time I wanted a series where I had to wait a WEEK for every new episode and I’m writing this post on a Wednesday, which means tomorrow is new And Just Like That day and YES I’m excited!) I started to have a mooch around the app.
I popped a fair few things on my watch list and just like that, I was hooked on NowTV (see what I did there?)
There’s so much good stuff on NowTV. Loads of which I had seen adverts for throughout 2021 but was unable to watch because I didn’t have the channels, nor the subscription. The amount of times my boyfriend and I would see an advert for something and go, “Wow that looks good! Shame we can’t watch it.” Well, now we can.
So I thought I’d share today some of the things I’ve been watching on NowTV at the moment which I’m really enjoying. I currently only have the NowTV Entertainment subscription, which means I can’t wait sports or anything from Sky Cinema but I can watch programs from channels like Sky Atlantic, Sky Comedy and Sky Max.
You can upgrade to get the Sky Cinema package as well and upgrade even further for Sky Sports. But as I also have Netflix and Amazon Prime, I decided to stick to the Entertainment package for now and that’s served me pretty well so far.
So here are 7 things I’ve been loving on NowTV!
And Just Like That (sky comedy)
Yes I know, it’s had mixed reviews but like I said at the start, I loved Sex and the City so I was so excited to start watching And Just Like That and is the initial reason I signed up to NowTV. Yes, they done Steve and Miranda a dirty. And yes *that* kitchen scene was… quite something. And yes, it’s all a bit odd. But I still love it. Sue me.
Chernobyl (sky atlantic)
I have been gagging to watch Chernobyl since it first came out but of course I didn’t have the channels or the subscription to do so, so when I saw it was on NowTV, my boyfriend and I started watching it immediately and we were both utterly blown away by it. The cast were extraordinary, the cinematography was outstanding and it was incredibly informative as well as emotionally powerful.
Harry Potter Reunion (sky max)
The Harry Potter reunion was so cute, wasn’t it? I thoroughly enjoyed the reunion and thought it was put together really well in the timeline of the films themselves. Tom Felton and Emma Watson are just ultimate friendship soul mate goals and Robbie Coltrane broke my goddamn heart. I sobbed for the last 10 minutes but it was so worth it!
Breeders (sky comedy)
Breeders is without a doubt one of the funniest shows I’ve watched in a very long time and personally, I don’t usually go for Fictional comedy shows but we completely binge-watched this. Martin Freeman is EVERYTHING is this show – he’s unbelievably good and it’s such a great light-hearted show to watch when things feel a bit heavy.
Euphoria (sky atlantic)
Oh good grief what can I say about Euphoria. I’d never actually heard of this until I saw it on the app and decided to pop it on my watch list on a whim but I’m so glad I did. What a showwwww. Definitely one that needs a lot of trigger warnings for drugs, sex, overdoses and more, so definitely go in cautiously if you feel like you might be affected by this one.
Micky Flanagan’s Detour De France (sky max)
I love Micky Flanangan as a stand up comedian so was intrigued to see how a show like this would be. I really enjoyed it! He’s just as funny away from the microphone and some of the stuff they get up to in this show is so ridiculous but so fun. Although I would say there were the odd offensive statements made which made this go down slightly on my list.
The Undoing (sky atlantic)
I’m actually in the middle of watching this now but I’m enjoying it so much I don’t really think I need to wait until the end to put it on here. I love Nicole Kidman, she’s amazing as always and it’s also great to see Hugh Grant in such a role. A really intriguing show that gets right into the thick of it from episode 1.
My NowTV subscription was definitely one of my better decisions from 2021. I’m definitely intending to keep it going for the foreseeable future. I’m looking forward to whatever else I can find and that gets put on there throughout the year!
Do you have a NowTV subscription? What would you recommend for me? Have you seen any of these mentioned above? Let me know!
