If you’re a book blogger or just an avid reader, you’ll know the struggle. The struggle of buying too many books when you already have far too many sitting on your shelf. The struggle of a publisher asking you if you’d like to review x, y or z and knowing you don’t really have time but you can’t quite resist. The struggle of not being able to leave the library empty handed because it feels like you’re committing a crime. I know, I feel you. I am that person. There are so many books sitting on my bookcase and have been sitting there for months – some even years – which although I always say I’m going to read, I never do. So here are 10 books on my bookcase which I really want to finally get around to reading this year!
The Atlantis Gene by A.G Riddle
This is one that’s been sitting there for ages and ages and although it’s not usually my genre, I’ve always thought this book sounded fascinating so I really want to get stuck in soon and see if it’s my sorta thang or not!
The Dry by Jane Harper
I won this last year (I think) and I haven’t read it yet, sighhhhhh. It’s a gorgeous hardback copy – which I love and I’ve heard a few people mention how good it is.
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
I bought this one for my mum for her birthday last year because she said she’d been seeing posters for it on the way to work. She absolutely loved it but it’s been sitting on my shelf since!
The Trouble With Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon
This had so much hype when it was released, as did her next novel Three Things About Elsie and I’ve heard so many wonderful things about both. I also bought this for my mum last year as a gift, she’s read it (and loved it) and I obviously haven’t. Boo.
The Foster Child by Jenny Blackhurst
I can only apologize profousley for this one as this was a review copy which was sent to me which I haven’t read yet (although I didn’t ask for it or agree to any blog tour but I still feel bad).
Travelling to Infinity by Jane Hawkin
The book which was the inspiration behind the film, ‘The Theory of Everything’, I picked this up on a whim when I was at the Severn Valley Railway last year in one of the station book shops.
The Three by Sarah Lotz
This has been sitting on my shelf for an inexcusable amount of time. The premise sounds outstanding, I’ve heard amazing things but have I read it? No. Something’s been stopping me but I vow to read it this year!
Confessions of a Conjurer by Derren Brown
I bought this book for my boyfriend (who’s a magician) like, 2/3 years ago now? I don’t know why because he doesn’t read. But I love Derren Brown so I definitely wanna read this one myself and only realised it last month!
George by Alex Gino
Another one which I won around a year ago (about the same time as I won The Dry, actually) which I still. haven’t. read. my gosh I am awful. This wouldn’t usually be my kind of book but I’m always up for expanding my reading!
Bad Sister by Sam Carrington
I think I won this some time late last year and I’ve been super excited about reading it but I just haven’t got around to it yet, despite the gloriously bright pink spine standing out on my shelf!
