How the Internet Can Aid Your Self Care

ad // When we think of self care, we don’t typically associate the internet with being something that can positively impact our self care efforts. In fact, most things you’ll read (even on my own blog) about self care will actively encourage you to move AWAY from the internet, social media and the screens in order to have a meaningful self care practice. In this post, we’re going to flip the script and talk about how the internet can aid your self care.

The internet always seems to be the enemy when it comes to talking about self care. Time and time again we’re told that in order to actively practice self care, we need to turn off the screens and get off of social media. I think the pros and cons argument of that could go on for days – and honestly, I don’t have the time! – but don’t get me wrong, too much social media / screen time can definitely have the wrong affect.

BUT, if you use it wisely, are cautious and know your limits and boundaries, there’s absolutely no reason why the internet and even social media can’t be an active tool in aiding your self care practice. People have made whole careers out of teaching self care online, so there’s obviously a huge market for it. And these days, when you have the best satellite internet provider then it’s easier than ever to use the internet for self care.

Everyone’s self care practices are so vastly different and we all need different things at different times in our lives. But if you’d like to know how the internet can aid your self care practice and you want to avoid looking at the internet with those negative connotations we’ve all associated with it, then these tips and ideas will help you!

Here’s how the internet can aid your self care:

It can open your mind to different ways to practice self care

You’ve only got to search for “self care ideas” on Google and you’re inundated with self care ideas from all over the globe! This is particularly useful if you’re new to self care – like I was before I started blogging (and a few years into it, too). I’d never even HEARD of the phrase “self care” before, so it’s highly likely there are others out there who haven’t either.

The internet can be a vital resource for them in discovering new ways to practice self. Here are some of my more niched self care posts:

It can start a conversation about self care with others

Self care is not only important to practice but it’s important to talk about. Why? Because we STILL don’t prioritize our self care nearly enough on a daily basis. Nor do we sometimes understand what we REALLY need from our self care. Self care is always much deeper than bubble baths and candles and I think the internet has been a great place to open up those conversations.

It can allow you to discover amazing brands to aid your self care

The Tea & Tonic products I’ve been able to feature in this post have been incredible aids to my self care. Tea & Tonic are a 100% natural brand that sells beautiful luxury skincare and wellness teas. The absolute epitome of conscious self care. They also have a range of gift sets which would just make the most beautiful gift for someone who needs a little extra TLC.

I was sent a few of their products to try but first and foremost, what stood out to me was the beautiful package. I am a SUCKER for sage green – I painted my office sage green – so I adore the calming and tranquil colour of their products. Their stand out product for me was the Inviting Sleep Body Oil. I would love to purchase one of these for EVERYONE I know.

This oil smells like… I can’t even really describe it but spa-like is a good way to go. But not invigorating. It’s just utterly blissful. The smell and the application is heavenly and popping some of this on before bed is guaranteed to get you off into a relaxing state before you drift off. I genuinely think this is going to be one of my products of the year.

I was also sent an Earl Grey Saving Grace Loose Leaf Tea, which states at the back of the tin that it’s ideal to revitalize and reawaken in the afternoon. It was definitely fate that made them choose this particular tea to send to me because I always struggle with energy in the afternoon – more often than not, opting for a quick nap. So this tea has been a welcome addition to my daily routine.

I was also sent a few sachets of their other teas, which come in a teabag form, from Golden Milk Wellness Tea, Ginger Turmeric Wellness Tea, White Mint Wellness Tea and a few others. I’ve not consumed all of these yet but I’m thoroughly enjoying trying them out and always look forward to seeing which tastes and aromas I get from these beautiful little pouches.

Honestly, I’m super impressed with Tea & Tonic. I didn’t have any expectations before receiving the products but I think the products AND the packaging are absolutely top notch. You can tell a lot of love, effort and expertise goes into these products due to how meticulously blended with just the right superherb balance for whatever you need.

My top pick would be the body oil – but honestly, if you’re into your wellness and want to experiment with some new products to aid your self care and wellness routines, I’d just recommend checking out the website to see what they have to suit your needs!

A great way for how the internet can aid your self care is by the brands that it can introduce you to and the amazing products – like those from Tea & Tonic – that can help amplify your self care practices!
