Stepping into Spring with xylondon

I think Spring is a great time to spruce things up. Whether that’s your blog layout, a new hair cut, a re-decorated bedroom or a new wardrobe, Spring is a great time to jump into things head first. New beginnings and all that jazz. I always feel super motivated and inspired as Spring hits (apart from the days that my hay fever is so bad that I can’t breathe or see), I want to do more, try new things, work harder – the works! And it’s a great feeling. Fashion is something I’ve never been overly confident with; I don’t tend to follow the crowd or follow any “trends” and I’m quite reserved when it comes to my choices. But even a gal like me needs some new items to spruce up their wardrobe every now and again don’t they?

I was contacted by xylondon and asked if I’d like to be sent a pair of their shoes to review and feature on my blog. I popped over to their website to see what they did and was surprised and pleased to see they did a whole variety of different types and styles. Some for the more reserved lady… Like myself. And some for people who are considerably more “out there” with their fashion choices. They cater for more or less everyone, which is fab. Anyway, I was told I could choose any pair I wanted so after considerable deliberation, I opted for these Faux Suede boots *. I was in the market for a new pair of boots because my old ones broke not too long ago, so this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

When first slipping them on, I couldn’t help but notice how comfortable they were. There was no wearing them in, they were just straight on and go. It’s dreadfully annoying when you get a new pair of shoes but then have to spend 2 days wandering around the house to “wear them in“. I love boots; I’m a right boot person and think they can look amazing with so many different outfits. They can also be worn during a large portion of the year. Apart from maybe the dead of Summer, boots are a pretty safe option during Spring, Autumn and Winter so I know I’ll get a lot of use out of these.

I’m not however, a heel person. I can’t walk in heels and I don’t find them comfortable so I had to be careful when choosing my pair on the size and shape of the heel. The heel on these are perfect for me; not too high at all and nice and chunky so it doesn’t affect how I walk in them. I’ve never found heels particularly comfortable but again, on these, they’re absolutely fine. As I said before, I’m also fairly reserved when it comes to my clothing choices so I kept with what I’m comfortable with but I love the simple style of these boots but the colour was what drew me in. I’ve found the grey tone goes really well with almost everything in my wardrobe; jeans, dresses, tights, leggings. I won’t be struggling to find an outfit to pair with these

I was really impressed with the whole package of working with xylondon. Their website offers a wide range of shoes and is easy to navigate around. The shoes themselves turned up in perfect condition (the box was a bit battered but it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right?) and they fit perfectly and were my ideal type of shoe. I know I’ll be getting a lot of wear out of these and I’m looking forward to pairing them up with a variety of outfits.

Tell me: What’s your favourite type of shoe? Are you a boots person or a heel person? Would you wear something like this?
