Back to basics with the Old English Company

Let me list a few things that I like; stationery, homeware, quotes and typography. I mean of course I like more than just those 4 things but for the sake of this post, let’s just stick with those four. So when Old English Company reached out to me about a potential collaboration, a company who specialize in home-wear and stationery which – and get this – are embodied with beautiful hand lettered quotes, you can imagine I said yes fairly instantly. Otherwise, this post would be pretty damn short.

Make a statement with Cardology *

Buying gifts for people is something I pride myself on. I always ensure that I look for something which is personal or a little different from the usual ‘stuff’. You know what I mean, a smelly set from Boots or a box of chocolates. There’s nothing wrong with those things of course – I’d never say no to a box of choccies! – but I like to put a lot of thought and effort into everything I buy anyone. Which often results in a lot of stressful scrolling and hectic brainstorming! Greetings cards can be just as special as the gifts. I always opt for a greeting card that matches the person I’m buying for. My dad will receive a funny one, my mum will receive a personalised one probably with a picture of our dog on – you get the gist!

The all-in-one beauty product you need in your routine

I’m always up for trying new products but the thing about me is that I hate having too much “stuff”. If you know me from Twitter, you’ll know I’m a constant cleaner / sorter-outer and I hate keeping anything unnecessary. I hate having more than what I need (I guess you could say I have a fairly minimalist mindset in that respect!) and my beauty / skincare collection would be gasped at by some beauty bloggers out there! So anything that makes my life easier and isn’t left lying around doing nothing is always a bonus for me.

Crown make-up review *

I mentioned on Twitter the other day that I was really enjoying dipping my toes in more beauty related posts recently. I’ve really stepped out of my comfort zone so far this year in regards to my blog and I’m really enjoying not limiting myself – no topic is off limits anymore. So whilst I’ve reviewed a few beauty related products in the past, most of them have been hair or skin care – that sort of thing. But make-up… Eeeesh. That’s an entirely different ball-game for me altogether.

From the US to the UK: Design.ME Hair *

My hair has been through a lot in my mere 25 years. I’m have naturally auburn hair but it’s seen the affects of severe bleaching, going bald from wearing too many hair extensions (yes, really) and going from almost to my bum to 2 inches long and every length and style in between. My hair has stayed it’s natural colour for a good few years now and I’m not planning on changing that any time soon and it’s back to a length I like but I’m still aware of the importance of taking care of your hair and always keen to try new hair products.

Getting personal this Valentine’s Day with Gifts Online 4 U *

Valentine’s Day can mean different things to everyone – and there’s certainly no right or wrong way to go about the day (apart from crapping on other people’s happiness – don’t do that). If you don’t celebrate it, that’s cool. If you do, that’s cool too. I fall somewhere in-between those two poles. I’ve never gone “all out” on Valentine’s Day but if I’m with someone, I like to acknowledge it in some small way. Maybe making dinner that evening or letting them chose the movie? Because sometimes, small gestures can mean a lot too. Valentine’s Day doesn’t always mean lavish gifts or fancy meals for everyone.

The perfect present for the pet lover in your life

I know Christmas has been and gone but it’s never a wrong time of the year to support small businesses and buy unique and personal gifts for those you love! We all have birthdays after all! I’ve always found personal gifts the best; to give and receive. Something that no one else in the world is going to have. I also love supporting small businesses when the time comes for gift buying, whether that’s Mother’s Day, Christmas or a birthday. Being a small business myself (albeit not one that sells gifts), I know how important the support is. Not just the purchases but the word of mouth, the positive feedback and even the shout outs and retweets.

Living a flowerful life with Freddie’s Flowers (& discount code!) *

Sometime in December, I was approached by Freddie’s Flowers – an online flower delivery service and asked if I was interested in reviewing one of their monthly boxes. I said yes, obviously, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this post and I’m sure upon reading this, you’ll understand why I said yes. Flowers can brighten up any room; my mum has bought small bunches of flowers every week for as long as I can remember and there’s always a vase of them sitting on the kitchen table and in the living room. I like to treat my mum to flowers, when I can. Often on Mother’s Day or her birthday because flowers can be a really special gift for people who like them. I gifted these flowers which Freddie’s Flowers kindly sent to me to her as well, right after I finished taking my blog photos…

Travel Off the Eaten Path this New Year

I really, really, really love crisps. Like, love them. I eat an awful lot of them. Probably more than I should but I’m all for eating what you want and I certainly don’t buy into fad diets that tell you eating crisps is a ‘syn’. You’re not going to hell for eating crisps just fucking eat them. However, I am all for trying different crisp options and if that’s a healthier crisp option, that’s cool too! I’m just a huge lover of food in general; healthy or un-healthy and I love trying and experimenting with different flavours. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a vegetable or something from McDonald’s I haven’t tried before.

Every blogger’s dream parcel: Ryman Stationery *

I’m going to say that really annoying, over-used, cliché sentence that everyone hates… When Ryman Stationery contacted me and asked if I’d like to work with them, I completely jumped at the chance! And although I’m internally cringing just writing that, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t 100% true. I’m sure most bloggers can relate to my love of stationery; crisp, brand new notebooks with not a mark on them, trolling through pages after pages or shelf after shelf of pens of all different types and colours, random multi-coloured paperclips and nick-nacks that you’re never going to use… Sigh. A blogger’s heaven. That’s more or less how I felt as I scrolled through the Ryman’s website, picking my items for review.
