In May I worked with a fab shoe company, xylondon on a review of a pair of their boots. I bloody love these boots and have certainly got some wear out of them since receiving them so I can hand on heart, recommend this brand for all your boot-related-needs. I was thrilled when they wanted to work with me again on a more Summer-themed shoe post so I hopped onto the website and had a good old browse for something more summery. And I found the cutest pair of shoes which I can’t wait to share with you!
If you get an email asking if you’d like to review cupcakes, you’re going to say yes. So when Caketoppers * emailed me and asked if I’d like to try and review some of their cupcakes, I said yes. Obviously. I love food and I’m certainly not going to turn down an opportunity to test some – especially cakes! Caketoppers specialise is edible photo cake toppers, on cakes and cupcakes for a whole range of occasions, choosing from chocolate sponge, classic sponge of a mixture of both! I was sent one of each to try and here’s what I thought!
Father’s Day is literally round the corner so if you haven’t already, now is probably the time to grab some gifts for the Dad, Granddad or Father figure in your life! We’ve never really put a huge emphasis on Father’s Day in our family but I always make sure I get my Dad a few gifts, to show him that I love him and appreciate everything he’s done for me over the years. If gifts aren’t your thing, maybe you can just make sure the Father figure in your life knows how much you care in some other way. Anyway, here are the gifts I’ll be giving my Dad this Sunday for Father’s Day and some suggestions if you’re stuck for ideas yourself!
Personalized Multi Tablet & Phone Holder – Prezzybox
I have reviewed a couple of bookish subscription boxes before in the past and I bloody love them – definitely more so than beauty subscription boxes. That’s obviously the bookworm in me talking but there’s nothing quite like getting a package and knowing there’s so much bookish goodness inside waiting to be opened! When I was contacted by Magic Chest*, a Fantasy based book subscription company, I was on it like a car bonnet. As it usually works with these types of boxes, each month is a different “theme”. I was given the option of the May box or any of their previous boxes so I went with one of their older “Fairy Tales” themed boxes. You all know I love fairy tales; Disney, magic, re-tellings. Give me it all. So I was super excited to receive this box and see what was inside.
I think Spring is a great time to spruce things up. Whether that’s your blog layout, a new hair cut, a re-decorated bedroom or a new wardrobe, Spring is a great time to jump into things head first. New beginnings and all that jazz. I always feel super motivated and inspired as Spring hits (apart from the days that my hay fever is so bad that I can’t breathe or see), I want to do more, try new things, work harder – the works! And it’s a great feeling. Fashion is something I’ve never been overly confident with; I don’t tend to follow the crowd or follow any “trends” and I’m quite reserved when it comes to my choices. But even a gal like me needs some new items to spruce up their wardrobe every now and again don’t they?
Let me list a few things that I like; stationery, homeware, quotes and typography. I mean of course I like more than just those 4 things but for the sake of this post, let’s just stick with those four. So when Old English Company reached out to me about a potential collaboration, a company who specialize in home-wear and stationery which – and get this – are embodied with beautiful hand lettered quotes, you can imagine I said yes fairly instantly. Otherwise, this post would be pretty damn short.
Buying gifts for people is something I pride myself on. I always ensure that I look for something which is personal or a little different from the usual ‘stuff’. You know what I mean, a smelly set from Boots or a box of chocolates. There’s nothing wrong with those things of course – I’d never say no to a box of choccies! – but I like to put a lot of thought and effort into everything I buy anyone. Which often results in a lot of stressful scrolling and hectic brainstorming! Greetings cards can be just as special as the gifts. I always opt for a greeting card that matches the person I’m buying for. My dad will receive a funny one, my mum will receive a personalised one probably with a picture of our dog on – you get the gist!
I’m always up for trying new products but the thing about me is that I hate having too much “stuff”. If you know me from Twitter, you’ll know I’m a constant cleaner / sorter-outer and I hate keeping anything unnecessary. I hate having more than what I need (I guess you could say I have a fairly minimalist mindset in that respect!) and my beauty / skincare collection would be gasped at by some beauty bloggers out there! So anything that makes my life easier and isn’t left lying around doing nothing is always a bonus for me.
I mentioned on Twitter the other day that I was really enjoying dipping my toes in more beauty related posts recently. I’ve really stepped out of my comfort zone so far this year in regards to my blog and I’m really enjoying not limiting myself – no topic is off limits anymore. So whilst I’ve reviewed a few beauty related products in the past, most of them have been hair or skin care – that sort of thing. But make-up… Eeeesh. That’s an entirely different ball-game for me altogether.
My hair has been through a lot in my mere 25 years. I’m have naturally auburn hair but it’s seen the affects of severe bleaching, going bald from wearing too many hair extensions (yes, really) and going from almost to my bum to 2 inches long and every length and style in between. My hair has stayed it’s natural colour for a good few years now and I’m not planning on changing that any time soon and it’s back to a length I like but I’m still aware of the importance of taking care of your hair and always keen to try new hair products.
