ad | I got married in July and more or less from the get-go, we knew which venue we were going to use. We had a little look around two others, both of which were lovely but deep down, we knew the place we wanted and we knew it would be perfect for a variety of reasons. But choosing a wedding venue is no easy task and there’s a lot to take into consideration.

And considering it’s going to be the thing that uses up the largest chunk of your wedding budget, it’s imperative that you get it right and that both partners are happy with the choice.
From price to location to capacity and more, there are so many different factors that go into choosing a wedding venue. You need to consider each point carefully but at the end of the day, I truly believe it needs to be somewhere that feels right for you and your partner.
The last thing you want is to look back and wonder why you chose that particular venue when there was another one you liked better but didn’t go for, for whatever reason.
We’re going to look at some tips on how to find the perfect wedding venue; although my wedding was over a month ago now, it’s still on my mind all the time so I feel like I can share some tips that will help other Bride’s or Groom’s to be.

7 Tips for Finding the Perfect Wedding Venue
Don’t rush because you’re so excited
As soon as we got engaged I was thinking about what I might want at our wedding. It’s so easy to do because you get so excited you just want to start planning immediately! But this is where decisions can be made in haste. Don’t rush and enjoy your engagement for a little while before you start planning because trust me, once that planning process starts, you won’t be thinking about much else!
Get a rough idea of how many guests will be attending when you look
Different venues cater for different amounts of guests, so having a rough idea of the amount of guests you’re expecting beforehand is a good idea. Some venues are more perfect for intimate weddings whereas others are for a big lavish affair.
Find out what packages each venue offers
Get super informed on what each venue offers as a package. Chances are they will be similar but may have slight variations, so it’s important to look into which each one offers in terms of value for money.
Have a good idea of a budget before you start
And speaking of money, we all have different budgets when it comes to venue and that’s okay. Some would rather spend more on the venue and less on other things, like a dress and flowers. Others would rather the opposite.
Each bride and each couple has different priorities and that’s fine. If you are looking for more luxury wedding venues in the UK, the Lake District has a lot to offer – and it’s absolutely beautiful there. You should be able to find a range of luxury wedding venues near the Lake District to find your style and budget.
Consider location and parking of the venue
Once you’ve got a rough idea of a budget and have some locations and venues in mind, some things to consider when you’re looking at location of the venue could be:
- Has it got adequate parking for guests who are driving?
- Does it have rooms for those staying over?
- If it doesn’t, is it conveniently located nearby other hotels?
- Are there taxi services nearby that guests can use?
Think about the time of year you’re getting married
For practicality and aesthetic reasons, you might want to consider the time of year you’re thinking about getting married when it comes to choose a venue. Obviously most venues will cater to weddings all year round but if you’re having a Winter wedding, perhaps somewhere that’s got a more cosy vibe might be suitable. Or if it’s Summer, does your venue have an option to get married outside?
Which venue gives you the more special vibe?
Yes, it’s perfectly acceptable to choose based on *vibes* alone. If you get a bad vibe from the staff or the venue itself, don’t force yourself into liking it for someone else’s sake. Intuition is usually right in the first place so trust that gut instinct. You’ll know the one when you see it.
