Advice for first time skiers *

I’ve tried to incorporate travel and holiday type posts on my blog a lot more recently because holidays, trips and even short weekends away mean an awful lot to me. They leave us with some of the best memories and photos to look back on and by writing about it, I get to reminisce all over again! My most recent trip was a weekend away in Shropshire on the Severn Valley Railway, which I’ve done twice now and thoroughly enjoy and back in March, I also wrote a post about some of my favourite holidays. You’ll see that one of the holidays I included in that post was skiing, which is what I’m chatting about today!

My favourite holidays *

I’m most certainly not a travel blogger: I don’t go on nowhere near enough holidays or trips for that to be a reality unfortunately. As much as I wish I could book a dozen small getaways a year, that’s not realistic for me… And probably for a lot of other people too. However, over the last few months I have thoroughly enjoyed talking about holiday type things a bit more. I recently wrote a post about what holidays mean to me and I have a post coming up next month about my favourite Disneyland Paris attractions. These are a nice addition to my blog, I absolutely love writing them and it’s always lovely to look back on wonderful holidays you’ve taken. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do today! I’m dipping my toes in the nostalgia pond today and talking about some of my favourite holidays; both near and far.

Also, apologies for the quality of some of these photos. Some were taken way before a decent camera ever entered my hand!

BOOK REVIEW: Life to the Limit: My Autobiography by Jenson Button

Format: Hardback, Christmas present
Links: Goodreads | Amazon UK
Blurb: Jenson Button is one of the greatest racing drivers of his generation. His seventeen years in Formula 1 have seen him experience everything the sport has to offer, from nursing underpowered cars around the track to winning World Championships and everything in between.

Here, Jenson tells his full story for the first time in his own honest, intelligent and eloquent style. From growing up as part of a motor-racing-mad family under the guidance of his father, John, to arriving at Williams as a fresh-faced 20 year-old, to being written off by some as a playboy and his fight back to the very pinnacle of his sport. Jenson’s World Championship victory for the unsponsored and unfancied Brawn GP team is one of the most extraordinary against-the-odds sports stories of the century.

Jenson’s book lifts the lid on the gilded and often hidden world of Formula 1. He reveals his relationships with some of the biggest names in Formula 1- Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso as well some of the most colourful characters like Flavio Briatore, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams and serial winner Ross Brawn. Above all, he puts you right inside the cockpit, in the driving seat, travelling at over 200 miles per hour, battling the fear of death, showing you what happens when it goes wrong at high speed and allowing you to experience the euphoria of crossing the line first. My First Motorsport Experience: Silverstone F1 Mid-Season Test

If you follow me on Twitter, you *may* have noticed that I like Formula 1. A lot. You will be inundated with my obsessive tweeting every Formula 1 weekend which range from me frantically trying to find out when the race will be put on catch up to declaring my love for Jenson Button. I’ve not been a motorsport fan for very long – compared to some of my lovely F1 friends I’ve met who have been dedicated fans since they were little – in actual fact, it’s been no time at all. But, since my first glimpse of F1, when my boyfriend set his alarm for 5:30 in the morning to watch the first practice session in Malaysia last year, my interest has piqued and it hasn’t stopped since. I absolutely adore every aspect of Formula 1 as a sport and have made a huge effort to find out as much as I can about the cars, the teams and drivers and the history of this incredibly exciting, intimidating and captivating sport. And this year, I experienced my very first event! Which will hopefully be the first of many.
