We can’t help the way our days go sometimes… They occasionally end up epically shite and it’s completely out of our control. But it’s still always important to start the day right because ya never know what might happen! I’ve put a lot more emphasis into starting my day right this year so I wanted to share some of the things I’ve started to do to have a more positive morning! Note: waking up at the crack of dawn isn’t one of them.
Write down your to-do list the night before: Before I even get to the morning, I always write my to-do list for the following day the night before so I already know exactly what needs doing and it saves a lot of stress when you wake up!
Take some Kalms tablets: As an anxiety sufferer and one that doesn’t take medication for it, I like to start my day with two Kalms tablets to help me maintain a calm and stable morning. Whether that’s a placebo affect talking who knows…
Drink a glass of water: Hydration is super duper important, especially in the morning when you’re the most dehydrated. I always keep a bottle of water by my bedside and chug a bit when I wake up.
Say your positive affirmations: I recently signed up to watch a self-love webinar from a YouTuber I enjoy (Raw Alignment) and one of her points was to wake up every morning and tell yourself that you love yourself. I thought it sounded a bit silly at first too but since starting that every morning, I’ve actually genuinely noticed I’m being kinder to myself and I’m actually noticing things about my body that I dont hate!
Write down something you’re grateful for: This was another thing I sorta stole from the webinar I watched but I’ve started writing down a gratitude every single day. Not always in the morning, but it’s something I think about every morning and remind myself that I have to do.
Have a skincare routine: I recently blogged about my new skincare routine and this is something I like to try and do every morning as a little bit of ‘me’ time where I just focus on taking care of me and my skin and nothing else for 5 minutes.
HaeHave a healthy breakfast: I’m not a healthy person – I love takeaways and eat far more of them than I probably should. But I very rarely eat an unhealthy breakfast. And I pride myself on that. I always feel much more awake and energetic after eating a nice bowl of porridge with some fruit rather than a bacon sandwich (I save that for the weekends!)
