Things I wish I could tell the girl in the photo

Just to clarify before we get into it, the girl in the photo is me not just some random kid. And look how goddamn cute I was! I came home from a trip away to my boyfriend’s parents house “up norf” and saw this photo sitting in my parents bedroom. First of all, the frame is actually mine so I’m not so happy that my mum stole it but I thought it was cute nevertheless. I was looking at the photo whilst listening to Lea Michele’s version of “Wake Me Up” by Avicii (it’s a beautiful cover, you have to listen!) and all of a sudden I started crying. I know it sounds like I’m making this up but I’m not, genuinely, started to cry. For reals.

BLOGGERS REVEALED

You’ve seen the blog posts and you’ve seen the tweets and you’ll know that the blogging world is a very exclusive and complicated place. We all want apart of it and we all try and portray it like it’s the best thing ever. There’s plenty of misconceptions about the blogging world and the bloggers within in and I’m here to put the record straight. Here are some things that bloggers don’t actually tell you…

Mystery Blogger Award Tag

I don’t do these chain award tag posts anymore if I’m honest. A lot of them are for new bloggers and I’m long from being a new blogger but I was tagged in one the other day which was mostly Disney themed and it looked like fun so I wanted to join in. I’m not sure if this tag is designed for new bloggers or just anyone who fancies doing it but what I’m going to do is tag 10 bloggers with under 500 blog followers at the end of this post for you to check out and spread the love! Thank you to Charlie from That is the Spell for my nomination, do go and check out his wonderful blog!

Define success on your own terms

The other week, it was my blogs 4th blogoversary! I don’t know where those 4 years have gone; it’s been an almighty blur and I can’t distinguish one year from the next any more. It feels like only mere months ago that I had my first ever blog design, I had a handful of followers and all I was doing is reviewing books. Before the time where I knew what a sponsored post was or what a product review would entail because things like that seemed so far fetched for a little blogger like me.

The Gift of Song With Songfinch (& Discount Code!)

When I was approached by Songfinch to enquire about a collaboration, I was intrigued to say the least. What so, you write a song… About someone I know? With like, original lyrics? I mean, I didn’t totally get it at first but after doing some research and chatting to their ever so lovely and helpful content, social media, email man Zach, I understood the concept more and my thoughts instantly changed from, “huh?” to, “Wow, okay this is seriously cool”. So, with the lead up to Mothers Day, I began working with them on a Mothers Day song for my mum. This is what happened…

Basic Self Care You Really Shouldn’t Overlook

I am all for self-care. Despite the fact it’s deemed a by-product of our generation and sense of entitlement, I can’t help but think, ‘why shouldn’t we be entitled to look after ourselves the best we can?’ And even, on occasion, before we look after anybody else. We are our own biggest commitment after all and we’re the only person in the entire world that we are stuck with forever so for that reason, I believe in self-care and its importance. But what I’ve been thinking about more and more recently is the actual self care “routines” we are often bombarded with which are sure to make us feel better and increase our mental wellbeing.

My Ultimate Dream Spa Experience *

Believe it or not, I have never been to and had the pleasure of enjoying a spa. I’ve had the odd massage here and there, a couple of spray tans and acrylic nails – like the ones they offer at Ellisons – before I jetted off to Bulgaria once but never have I been able to indulge myself for longer than the half an hour it takes to complete a massage. Going to a spa is definitely on my bucket list. It would be the perfect thing to do with my best friend or my mum, maybe for their birthday or for Mother’s Day and would be the epitome of a girlie weekend. But in the meantime, here is what my perfect spa day would include.

My Favourite YouTubers

I’ve never been a huge fan of YouTube and I’ve never bothered to really watch people, follow people or get to know some of the more “well-known” YouTuber’s. Until around last year. YouTube was never something for me – I couldn’t think of anything worse than talking to a camera and spending hours editing and oh my brain fuzz – and it still isn’t but my YouTube watching habits have grown immensely since discovering – albeit years later than everyone else – some amazing women (and men) on YouTube who I enjoy watching immensely. I seem to have a YouTuber for ever sort of mood and ones I tend to turn to.

Tips For Getting a Better Night’s Sleep *

I am a 24 year-old female and I have a hella lot of trouble sleeping sometimes. Lack of sleep, insomnia or just general problems sleeping are usually associated with older people, right? Like menopause or health problems that occur later in life that might prevent people from falling asleep as easily and as naturally. It definitely sucks but older people have options to make night time more pleasant, like adjustable beds and riser recliner chairs for example which can make a huge difference to your wellbeing associated around sleep. But what about us young’un’s?

How I Prepare For a Bedroom Clear-out

If you know me at all, you will know I am incredibly organised. I love cleaning, tidying and getting stuff in order. It calms me down, makes me feel productive and almost-zen and I always feel so much better afterwards. I regularly take to Twitter to tell the loyal Twit folk when I’m tidying and how much I love it and I also regularly end up in conversations with people who can’t stand cleaning and sorting out and wouldn’t know where to start. Well… fret no more (not that you were anyway but still) because I thought I’d share my tips for preparing for a bedroom clear-out.
