I’ve had this post in the notes on my phone for a while now, adding things to it as soon as I experience something new that makes me happy that I’d like to add in the post. I keep all my blog post ideas in the notes on my phone, so it’s an easy way to just delete them once they’ve been written. I also categorize them into months but that’s for another post altogether (categorizing… that’s one thing that clearly makes me happy!) Then I saw in March, one of my favourite bloggers Hello Bexa actually did a post more or less the same. Great minds think alike, I say. She’s cool with me doing a similar type of post so here we are, my usually miserable self about to share 50 little things that make me happy!
- Staying in a hotel
- Meeting other dogs on a dog walk
- Tea and cake
- The perfect bath temperature
- Cheap chocolate
- A Yoga sequence that feels awesome

- Cuddling my dog
- Deep-cleaning / sorting out my bedroom
- Reading a book I can’t stop thinking about
- Fairy lights
- Heartfelt blog comments
- Hot water bottles
- Hitting a blogging goal
- The Sims
- Spyro the Dragon
- Exciting emails
- Amazing book to film adaptations
- Small victories which usually make me anxious as heck

- Baking a cake from scratch
- Banana milkshake
- Being organised and on top of things
- Making lists (clearly!)
- Watching a documentary
- Weekends away
- Stand up comedy
- TV / Netflix series
- Disney songs
- My Teddy (called Brown Teddy – how original a child I was!)
- Knowing someone loves your blog!
- Beauty and the Beast (2017)
- Service stations
- Breakfast food
- Bean burgers
- Being inspired with blog post ideas
- Re-reading an old favourite book
- Winning a giveaway
- Treating myself to something – even something small!
- Light evenings

- Hoovering and seeing the dirt and dust come up
- Watching movies
- Strictly Come Dancing
- Knowing how far I’ve come
I also just want to add that a month or so ago, I read the book How To Be Happy by Eva Woods, which is what inspired this post idea in the first place. You can find my review of the book here. It taught me an awful lot about happiness so I wanted to expand on that by writing this post!
Love this. So many of these things also make me happy, especially cheap chocolate and watching movies.
Thank you 😌
This is such a cute lil post… for quite a few of these, I was like “yup, me too”! Thanks for sharing what makes you happy xx
Hehe awh that’s great to hear!
[…] saw this on Jenny in Neverland’s blog and immediately fell in love with the idea of writing down things that make me happy. I think […]
This is such a great idea! I loved reading your list. It’s so important to know the things that make you happy!
Great post idea! 5 things that make me happy; my husband, my cat, a good book, the sims, fresh bed sheets.
The Sims has been making me VERY happy recently! I’ve been playing so much!
Oh I love this post Jenny! Such a lovely idea that I may have to give it a go! I also LOVE staying in a hotel as well as rereading an old favourite book!
Tabitha xx | whattabithaloves.co.uk
Go for it! Would love to read yours 🙂 xxx
Awh I love this list of little joys! I especially love the one about the right bath temperature – for me it’s always either scalding hot or very cold and it’s only on a rare occasion that I get into the bath at the right temperature. Ticking off to-do lists is another thing that makes me ridiculously happy!
Thank you 🙂 Aha I totally agree about the bath! I hate jumping in assuming it’ll be okay and then freezing to death 😂
I’m allergic to banana so the milkshake isn’t for me, but ticking the last thing off a to-do list is so satisfying!
Amy | hookedonthemusic.com
Omg really? I’ve never actually heard of anyone being allergic to banana! xxx
I love that you’ve included water, I feel the complete same! Being by the water is my happy place – and obviously, drinking it is pretty good too. Also, the staying in a hotel thing is so relatable, even if it’s not far away I bloody love it! Feels so luxurious haha!
Beth x
Yes same! The hotel could literally be around the corner to my house and I’d be like YAS! haha cxx
I love this post, so many of these make me happy too! I weirdly love water too, there’s definitely something that makes me happy being by the sea or a lake.. I find it so relaxing 🙂
Kate | http://www.katelovesx.co.uk
It’s lovely isn’t it? A few people have said the same! xxx
Great and inspiraitional.
Thanks 🙂
Love this post! It’s such a great idea to write down all the things that make you happy. Five things that make me happy are 1. A milky cup of tea 2. Getting lost in a good book. 3. Sunsets 4. Having a laugh with my friends and feeling content in the moment. 5. Cake
I definitely relate to some of the things on your list too!
Definitely relate to all of those but I don’t have milky tea! xxx
Yay, high five! Ah okay! xxx
This is a fabulous list you’ve got going on here, yay to the sims and freshly washed bed sheets! Also book>film adaptions – isn’t it great when they bring the characters you envisaged in your head to life? This was such a feel good post. Loved it!!
I totally agree! I love it when my favourite books come to life! xxx
JENNY! I knew we had some things in common like Disney but now that I know you’re a Strictly fan I’ll be your best friend, I am OBSESSED with it! Last series I did a post every Monday on the dances of that past Saturday. It’s such an uplifting show! I love Kevin the best <3
Haha awh yay! I loved last season, joe was always my fave!
I didn’t enjoy last season as much as I usually do, I don’t know what it was! I loved Susan and Kevin but I knew they wouldn’t win. I predicted Joe would win about week 3 or 4, he was incredible, loved him!
Loved this post girl, so important to not take the little things for granted!
Thank you 🙂
Reading a book you can’t stop thinking about, yes!! I think the only one I can’t relate to is meeting other dogs on a dog walk because mine is terrified of other dogs and it all just ends up a bit of a nightmare so we usually avoid at all costs!
Steph x

Oh no that’s a shame xx
I love cuddling my dogs, reading, supermarkets, seeing my family and big bear hugs.
I wish I loved supermarkets but they send my anxiety sky rocketing! I’d absolutely love to spend an hour roaming the shelves xxx
It’s my weird obsession with food ha. Online food shipping gives me the same thrill x

Always remember the little things that make you happy! I really want an Indian takeaway now! cxx
I think we’re having one tonight 🤤xx
Yesss, tea and cake at the end of the day is actually the best! I’ve got to say though, I’m really not a fan of banana milkshakes. Banana bread, milkshakes, pancakes, icecream… the whole lot.. i’m just not a fan!
Aleeha xXx

What no! I love anything with bananas in it! xx

I could listen to disney songs all day, they make me so happy too. And meeting dogs on a walk and spending time with my dog! I love the idea for this post, spending time to reflect of the things that make you happy.
Thank you 🙂 Disney Songs are amazing!
Yes to the breakfast foods and staying in hotels! I agree with so many of these but there’s too many to list. My top 5 off the top of my head are 1. My dog 2. When a recipe turns out better than expected 3. Travelling somewhere new 4. Beating a personal best (at anything) 5. The smell of fresh coffee when I wake up on a morning. I loved reading this! x

3. When I watch a film from my childhood and thankfully it’s still as good as I remembered (e.g He-Man Masters of the Universe lol love that movie & Dolph Laundran)
4. When I know the words to a rap song (Nikki Minage Starships & any Will Smith hit lol)
5. A ice cold glass of Irn-Bru!
Xxxx
I’d love to see your one! Clear outs are my favourite! xxx
I’ll start making my list xx

Really enjoyed reading this xx
Thank you 🙂 xx
I love this! I’m definitely going to have a think about my own! X
Go for it! 🙂 xxx
Great post, Jenny. I agree with so many of these – staying in a hotel, hot water bottles, tea and cake, cuddling my dog. I always get nervous meeting other dogs on dog walks as I can never tell how my dog or the other one will react! I think my 5 things would be :
1. Finishing all the chores I set myself in a day.
2. My little dog wanting snuggles.
3. A nice cup of tea.
4. Finding a bargain in a store, especially if it’s something you’ve been wanting for while.
5. Reading a book I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
Those are great things! xxx
You have an incredible list here Jenny, I love water too there’s just something about it, I can just sit and watch it/be in it for hours. It’s always good to know what things make you happy so when you’re feeling a little ‘meh’ we can do something we love that’ll improve our mood and day. My 5 things would be everything water, sunrise/sunset’s, long drives/walks, performing (dancing, singing, acting) and makeup/skincare.

It’s so soothing isn’t it! xxx
amazing blog post idea! I loved reading this because it has gave me so many ideas of little things to do that will brighten my mood and make me feel better! Definitely coming back to this post in the future! x
Awh thank you 🙂 xx
I’m not sure I can list things that make me happy that easily. I don’t have a go-to activity when I’m feeling down that I know will pick me back up again. There are many I’ll try (going for a walk, having a bath, eating chocolate) but they won’t always work. If nothing else works, I’ll try sleep. I find that if I’m low, even a short nap can help me reset. So I guess I’m going with a list of just 1: sleep!
Sleep is a good one though!
Such a great post, and I connect with so many of the things that you’ve listed. Lately, one of the things topping my list is being able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while working – one of the perks of working from home!
Britt | http://alternativelyspeaking.ca
I work from home but my hay fever is so bad I literally can’t sit outside xxx
We just got through a REALLY bad run of pollen here – it’s not too bad the last couple days, but I hear ya! My ability to work outside is dependent on pollen levels each day
I feel you! We’ve got VH pollen at the moment and it’s ruining my life 😂
Great list. My 5 are family, friends, running, playing snooker and weekends away!
Sound good to me! xxx
Yes to pretty much all of these!!
1) Walt Disney World (maybe a big thing)
2) The Greatest Showman
3) Writing a post I’m proud of
4) Pancakes from Wetherspoons
5) a trip to the cinema
Sophie | sophierayne.com xx
I still haven’t seen The Greatest Showman if I’m honest! Disneyland Paris makes me SO happy! xxx
This is such a lovely post! It’s a great idea to keep track of the things that make us happy, no matter how small they are. Here are my 5 things that make me happy: Photography, Being in the sea, hiking, blogging and a fresh cup of tea!

Not a football fan myself but I love a banana milkshake! xxx
Fantastic!
Seeing girlfriends. Gardening. A good cycle ride. Cuddling a dog, anyone’s dog. And finally seeing my husband laugh.
Great post, lovely to really think about it! Katie xx
Hahaha any dog. That’s the best answer 😂 xxx

2) Uplifting vibes on my wordpress and my YouTube channel – motivational videos.
3) Completing the task I want to..

Cleaning makes me VERY happy
