AD – This post contains PR samples but all thoughts are my own

As sad as this statement may be, it’s safe to say that all of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives. Whether that’s being diagnosed ourselves or watching a friend or family member go through it. Cancer is disgustingly common these days and whilst we can only do our best to stay healthy, donate to charities to help aid care and research and be there for each other, there’s not much else we can do.

Who are Cancer Care Parcel?

Founded by Dr Shara Cohen, who, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, found there was very little time to relax and take care of herself, between a ton of appointments, treatment and liaising with work. Having gone through treatment herself, she understands the pressures and the needs of the people with cancer and also the loved ones who might not know how to help.

Cancer Care Parcel provides care packages for adults and children going through cancer treatment. These incredible boxes can be gifted to loved ones, to ensure they know that you’re thinking of them and offering them some calm back into their lives with the products inside.

The Breast Cancer Gift Package for Women – £89.00

I was kindly given the opportunity to review and feature a hamper from Cancer Care Parcel and I opted for the Breast Cancer Gift Package for Women. This beautifully curated hamper contains a huge variety of products to promote comfort, relaxation and help with the physical and mental side effects of cancer treatment.

There really has been so much thought and love put into these parcels. If you check out the range of adult cancer hampers, you’ll see that there are over 20 different types of hampers, of different sizes and prices for both men and women. Including those specifically for those going from chemotherapy or an end of chemotherapy gift package, which I think is a really lovely idea. They also provide packages for teenagers and children.

So, let’s take a look at what’s in the Breast Cancer Gift Package for Women!

Comfort products

I’ve split the products featured in this post into 3 categories as they all serve a different purpose but have been carefully chosen to help cancer patients and those going through chemotherapy on their journey.

Snuggle Toes Thermal Bed Socks: The first comfort product is these super cute and MEGA soft thermal bed socks. The inside of these socks are an absolute gift for your feet. Some cancer therapies can cause cold feet, so these are perfect for that reason and just for some extra snuggly comfort.

Snuggle Bedding Throw: This throw is soft beyond belief and is ideal for that extra added comfort and coziness at home, in bed or in hospital during treatment. It’s in a beautiful duck egg blue so obviously can be used as decor as well!

World Tour Eye Mask: This sleep mask is a great addition to help aid relaxation, sleep and comfort. It’s extra soft and lightweight and isn’t heavy on your face either. This eye mask doesn’t have a scent to it (I’ve tried eye masks which are stuffed with fried flowers / lavender etc and they give me a banging headache) so it’s perfect for relaxation.

World Tour Super Soft Neck Cushion: And finally in the comfort category is the neck cushion, which is a great addition for anyone who’s going to be sitting in treatment for long periods of time or even for using in the car to and from the hospital. The cushion sculpts to the shape of your neck too, for ultimate comfort.

Practical products

Next category we have is practical products. Anything that aids your health and well-being as well as makes life a bit easier will be considered a practical product in this instance.

Water Bottle: We all know how important it is to stay hydrated. And during cancer treatment, it’s extra important to make sure you’re getting those fluids into your body. This water bottle is great for tracking how much you’re drinking. It’s also eco-friendly and BPA free.

Anti-Nausea Wrist Bands: I think nausea is the most common and well-known side effect of cancer treatment, so these bands are an amazing addition to this box. They’re a very popular, drug free alternative to medications and help ease nausea by putting pressure around the wrist. These can also be used in every day nausea, such as travel sickness (which is something I’m going to use them for!)

Peppermint Herbal Tea: Peppermint tea can help aid stress relief and relaxation, so this is another really great practical addition to this hamper. This tea is caffeine free as well.

Lip Therapy: Protects and relieves dry and chapped lips and helps lock is moisture and recover from discomfort. Easy to pop in your bag and take to treatment with you.

Cool Food Bag: This small food bag is a really helpful addition. The reasoning for the smaller size is because having several smaller meals a day and carrying snacks is often advised when spending a significant amount of time in hospital and treatment.

Ribbed Foot Roller: This ribbed foot roller is practical, yes but it also helps promote wellness and relaxation. You shouldn’t neglect your feet and foot massage can be an extremely relaxing activity for a time out.

Entertainment products

And finally we have a few entertainment products to help you stay entertained during treatment or long drives to and from the hospital.

Earphones: Pop on a podcast, some YouTube or your favourite music. Having quality headphones with you at all times is incredibly useful and can help pass the time or block out the noise.

Colouring Book: Colouring books can actually help aid relaxation and are used in some adult cancer wards! So this is a great option to help you de-stress and relax.

Colouring Pencils: And of course, some colouring pencils to go with the book!

Final thoughts?

Every two minutes, someone is diagnosed with cancer in the UK. It’s not something we can avoid or ignore. And when someone close to us is diagnosed, it can be incredibly hard to now how to react and what to do to help them. Cancer Care Parcel is an absolutely wonderful idea to help loved ones of cancer patients do their bit to help.

These boxes would really bring a ton of comfort to those who receive them. If you have a loved one in hospital and they don’t accept flowers due to allergies, then these parcels would be a much more practical and loving idea. I know for a fact that I will be keeping tabs on Cancer Care Parcel for the future.

Have you ever heard of Cancer Care Parcel? Would you consider purchasing a hamper for a loved one?
