I’m a self-proclaimed lover of Summer and Spring, so when the days start getting shorter, I get a little down. I mean, it’s hard not to feel a bit sad at times when the sun sets before you’ve even had dinner.

Plus, there’s a certain boredom that seems to appear, very much uninvited like that annoying neighbor at your annual Christmas party. Because unlike the warmer seasons, finding fun things to do in the Winter just seems so much harder.

And when you’re out in the dating world – or even in a long-term relationship, that’s going to make spending quality time together even more difficult. But, of course, there are plenty of fun cold-weather activities!

Here are 25 great date ideas for Winter:

Enjoy the Great Outdoors Together

If you’re an outdoors-y type (and one who isn’t bothered by the cold,) there are a ton of great date ideas that would be perfect for you.

Go Ice Skating

This is the quintessential Winter Date activity – but for good reason. It’s both romantic and adventurous, and no matter where you are, there’s sure to be a skating rink near you.

Hit the Slopes (Skiing)

If you’re near a good ski resort, this is another great date for the adventure-loving couple. For those in a long-term relationship, you could even take a weekend trip to a ski-lodge. Talk about romance!

Grab your Sled

Easy and relatively inexpensive, sledding is perfect for both the coupled up and the first daters. Plus, it’s a great excuse to hold on tight to your love (or… you know, potential love.)

Take a Winter Hike

Where I live, there are a ton of cool hiking trails so this one is a no brainer. Of course, you could always just throw on a few layers and take a walk around town instead.

Build a Snowman

Do you wanna build a snowman? 🎵 (it’s stuck in your head now, isn’t it!)

Have a Snowball fight

Another fun activity sure to delight your inner child.

Stay In Instead

For those of you who prefer to stay warm and cozy inside, there are plenty of great date ideas you can do in the wintertime that don’t involve being cold.

Host a Game Night

Grab a deck of cards, a video game console, or an old-school game like Scrabble and have a little tournament just the two of you. Or, alternatively, invite a few other couples over and have a game night.

Get Cozy with a Roaring Fire

There’s something undeniably romantic about snuggling up in front of the fireplace.

Make some S’mores

If you’ve got a fire going already, why not grab some marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers? Add a little playfulness to your romantic night in with some fireplace s’mores.

Go to a Paint ‘N Sip Party

These are so much fun! You get to drink wine and make your own art. And, if you don’t have a studio near you that offers this kind of event, you can always do it yourself. Just get some good wine and pull up a YouTube tutorial of a painting you both like and unleash your inner artist!

Have an At-Home Spa Day Together

Give each other a massage, enjoy a bubble bath together, or do some at-home face masks for glowing skin.

Get Into the Christmas Spirit

You know that person who puts up a Christmas tree the day after Halloween? I’ll admit it… I’m that person. If you’re anything like me, then use that love of Christmas to inspire your Winter date ideas.

See the Christmas Lights

I absolutely love Christmas lights – every year, I visit the drive-through holiday light display near me. But even if you don’t have one near you, you can drive around different neighborhoods and look at the Christmas lights that way.

Make a Gingerbread House

You can do it from scratch or get a gingerbread house kit. Either way, it’ll be a really sweet activity to do together.

Start your Christmas Decorations

Whether you put up your tree in November or wait until December, you can use that as a date activity and hang ornaments together.

Do some Christmas Crafting

Take a little scroll through Pinterest and you’ll be sure to find some fantastic Christmas crafts you can make together.

Go Christmas Shopping Together

Turn what could otherwise be a chore into a fun winter date.

Watch your Favorite Christmas movies Together

I recommend Elf – it’s one of my all time favorites.

Go for a Fun Night (or Day) Out

Finally, there are a whole host of great Winter date ideas you can do that are either adventurous or romantic:

Go to the Theatre

Get all dressed up and head to a live theatre show.

Visit a Museum

Art, history, science – whatever you’re into, there’s sure to be a museum near you to peruse.

Hit up a Karaoke Bar

Ok, I’m a terrible singer so I would never actually sing karaoke in public – but there is something really fun about going to watch other people get drunk and unleash their inner Beyonce.

Go to a Hockey Game

Hockey is probably the only sport I actually enjoy, but for some of you, you could replace this with Football instead.

Do an Escape Room Together

These are so much fun! You can do this with a group of friends or just the two of you.

Murder Mystery Dinner

Another really, really fun way to spend an evening in the winter.

Dinner and Dancing

Go for dinner, drinks, and dancing for a romantic, old-fashioned kind of date.

Take a Class Together

You can do a one-time class (like a cooking class or a pottery lesson) or sign up for ongoing lessons together (like dance lessons.)

Conclusion: Whether you’re a die-hard Winter fan or someone who just waits out the cold weather until Spring, there’s something fun you can do with your significant other.
