After almost a decade of blogging, sometimes all you want to do is a fun tag post. At least that’s the case for me right now! Throughout February, I was working SUPER hard on my March blog content, as February was a seriously quiet blogging month. By the time it came to write the last post for March, I literally couldn’t bring myself to do anything else serious, which is why I’m doing the Be Unapologetically You tag today.

Be Unapologetically You Tag

Which is when I remembered that months ago I was tagged in the Be Unapologetically You tag. I can’t for the life of me remember who tagged me (but if that was you, gimmie a wave!) so I decided to back track a bit and find that original tag and just do that for today.

Blogging can get so damn serious. But even if it’s your full-time or part-time job, it still needs to be FUN, otherwise what’s the point? And I don’t think it matters how seasoned a blogger, how much money you make, how many followers you have or brand collaborations you get, if you’re not enjoying it, you definitely need to take a step back.

And whilst I’ve really enjoyed writing and sharing all the content I’ve produced this month, I can still see that they have all been topics and posts that have required keyword research, SEO and ticking all those boxes. Whereas today, I’m just going with the flow. I want to write without thinking about where my next keyword is going.

So I think that’s where a good old fashioned tag post comes in really handy! I loved the idea of this one where you get to talk about what makes you – you! So let’s crack on with the Be Unapologetically You tag.

  1. Use the Be Unapologetically You banner in your post. It can be your featured image or not. It’s totally up to you.
  2. Include the link to this blogging tag (https://www.izzymatias.com/be-unapologetically-you) in your post.
  3. Answer the 7 questions in this tag.
  4. Nominate between 5-10 bloggers, link their blogs, and tag them on social media to notify them
  5. Most of all, have fun!

Introduce yourself and your blog while sharing one trivia about you that not that many people know.

Hello! My name is Jenny, I’m a full-time blogger of 9+ years on Jenny in Neverland. I started this blog back in 2013 as a book blog, where I reviewed books and talked about books for fun. It was an escape for me and something for me to do when I was going through a really dark period with my mental health.

I also started my own successful book touring company, Neverland Blog Tours, which I closed in 2018. After a few years, I started to involve into lifestyle as I wanted the freedom to talk about more than just books. At this point, reviewing books was starting to take the love of them away from me, so I stopped reviewing books altogether.

Once I ventured into lifestyle, I started getting brand collaborations and eventually went full-time with it and turned it into a career. I now predominantly talk about self care, well-being, mental health and personal growth but there’s also content about interiors, business / self-employment, books, fashion and beauty in there too.

Away from blogging, I love reading, gaming and cooking. I’m also into sport and love watching Formula 1 and various other Motor Racing series, I practice a lot of Yoga and love to swim! One trivia about me that you might not know is that I play snooker.

What topics do you love geeking out about that you would say are topics that give you bliss?

Books for sure. I’ve loved reading ever since I was a kid and it’s never left me. I wouldn’t be here, doing this, without books. Books are life. They give me SO much pleasure and enjoyment and wonder – I could rave about them all day! Books definitely give me bliss.

Do you blog about them? Why or why not? If not, would you like to blog about them one time?

Like I said, books are the reasons I’m doing this. I stopped reviewing books and talking about them all together for a LONG time but a few years ago, I started to introduce a bit of bookish content back onto my blog (not reviews) and I absolutely love it. They might not be my most read posts but I love chatting about books to readers!

Would you say that you are living life by being unapologetically you? Why or why not? If not, what would your life look like if you were unafraid to share more about the things that make you happy?

This is a difficult question because I feel like we change all the time – at least I do. I feel like for the most part I’m being unapologetically me in most of the things I do. I don’t shy away from spending time doing what I love, whether that’s playing a game, watching a particular film or series or eating a favourite food.

Permission to geek out & be unapologetically you: share with us one thing you fangirl or fanboy over and how you became a fan of it. It can be anything. Your love for soy candles, your favorite food, a boy band or an underrated film.

There’s actually so many! The film Coraline, Spyro the Dragon, Red Dead Redemption, Lord of the Rings, One Tree Hill – there’s sooo many things I absolutely love and do a little squeal over whenever they get mentioned!

What do you love the most about being a fan?

I think being a fan of anything is really special because when you meet someone else who’s also a fan, there’s this automatic spark and click between you where you have this WHOLE WORLD of stuff to talk about because you’re both passionate about the same thing.

But another great thing about being a fan of something is how comforted it makes you feel and how it allows you to really switch off and immerse yourself in another world.

For me, Coraline and Spyro the Dragon give me the comfort factor. When I’m going through a tough time mentally, I love to play Spyro the Dragon because I know the game inside out and it doesn’t require any thinking on my part, just enjoyment.

Red Dead Redemption is the BEST possible game for truly zoning out and switching off from the real world and being totally and utterly immersed in something else.

Share a fun or unforgettable fan experience.

Oh wow, this is hard. I don’t really think I have any. 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill replied to my tweet about my review of his book a good few years ago – that made me a bit giddy and was really cool!

  1. Ahh you reminded me I never did this tag when I was tagged in it either. I really enjoyed reading your answers. I’m a big reader too although I tend to go for more historical fiction.

  2. This was a very fun post to read. I loved how this was structured to allow readers to get to know you a little more, it reminds me of those little quizzes you used to get in those teenage-magazines, bless. Thank you for sharing this Jenny. You made me take a trip down memory lane, and I absolutely love the idea of ‘The Be Unapologetically You Tag’ post! ^_^

  3. So much nostalgia in this, the days of doing tag post after tag post seem like forever ago. This was such a nice one to complete though. Feels like a great one for bloggers as we often only show one section of our interests online x

  4. One constant in life is change. I love how you have followed your interested and evolved as a writer and blogger. Definitely want to pivot if something is no longer fun! I’m glad you can enjoy books again. I’m a big book lover also.

  5. Spyro brings back so many good childhood memories! We bought it to play on our Nintendo and actually may just jump on it today! I love reading tags, they are fun and there is always something new about the blogger x

  6. Loved this post. I did this a bit ago also, thought about tagging you, but someone already did. Can’t remember either 🙂

So I guess I have followed you longer than I realized because you were writing book reviews when I subscribed (with personal e-mail) to your newsletter and it made me so jealous that you had time to read so many books!

I loved playing pool, never understood what’s the difference between pool and snooker.

  7. You’ve answered some brilliant questions here Jenny! It’s really lovely to get to know you more. I love tags like this, I find them really relatable and it’s nice to learn about you, outside of your blog too! I love formula 1 too, it’s on most Saturdays and Sundays in this household haha. Thank you for sharing this with us, I throughly enjoyed reading it Xo

  8. This was really entertaining to read and a great way to get to know you a bit better! I squeal over One Tree Hill too…but only because of Chad Michael Murray lol it’s also really cool to hear how the transformation of your blog site took place. Thank you for sharing!

  9. Spyro the Dragon is awesome. My favorite one was A Hero’s Tail. Nothing seemed to come close to that particular edition. I was also a huge fan of the Sims but I gave up past Sims 2. I still like the Sims but don’t have the energy or time to devote to that game. My husband tried to get into Red Dead Redemption but gave up on it. I keep threatening to sell his game if he doesn’t play it. I gave him the game so I choose what to do with it 😂

      1. Yeah, that’s what I heard! It’s a huge game for sure. I used to really enjoy open world games but lately I haven’t had the patience for them. Idk why.
