Gardening

It’s not just a hobby that many people enjoy; it’s good for you. Gardening is a form of exercise that can give you a whole body workout. Whether you’re planting, digging, or mowing the lawn, you are exercising your body.

This will have a positive impact on your overall health and even help to keep you feeling young as you get older.

Swimming

Outdoor swimming pools are ideal for enjoying yourself in the garden. Whether you’re doing a few laps first thing in the morning or enjoying a pool party with family and friends, they’re certainly worth the investment. Swimming is incredibly good for your health and can help to lower levels of stress and anxiety.

Just remember, if you’re using your swimming pool regularly, to keep it well maintained. Check the PH levels and keep up with swimming pool paint to keep it looking fresh.

Vitamin D

Inevitably, when you spend time outdoors, you’ll see more of the sun. It doesn’t matter what season you’re in, you can still get a good dose of vitamin D from sunlight. The more time you spend outdoors, the more vitamin D your body can soak up.

Vitamin D is known to boost the immune system so it can help your body to fight off minor ailments like the common cold and flu. When your defenses are up, you’ll feel at your best.

Sensory Explosion

Gardens provide a fantastic opportunity to use all of your senses at once. If you have vibrant colored flowers to look at, your brain will be in heaven. Take in the smell of the flowers and the fresh air and listen to bird song.

In a world that never stops, with devices constantly in our hands, the garden provides a haven where you can just relax because your brain is still exploring.

Family Time

The garden is the ideal place to spend time with family and friends. Whether you’re having a BBQ in the summer or setting off fireworks in the autumn, it’s a great place to be together. It can also save you from clearing any mess made indoors.

If you have a dedicated seating area or space to sit down and eat, all the better. Bonds of friendship are often made outdoors because being outdoors changes our brain chemistry. We’re more likely to forget about stress and find solutions to problems when out in the fresh air.

  1. I removed loads of weeds from our garden and did lots of cutting back the other weekend and the benefit was pain in my glutes and legs for two days 🤣 Clearly it was working my muscles more than I thought. Joking aside, gardening is wonderful for my mental health and a good mindful activity.
