ad | Mother’s Day is a special time of year for many people. The chance to show our Mum – or Mother figure in our lives – what they mean to us and give thanks to them for everything they’ve done for us in our life so far. But gift giving isn’t always easy – especially if it’s for someone we’ve bought so many gifts for before or someone who seemingly has everything!

The more occasions that tick by, the harder it can be to figure out what to buy someone. Especially if it’s someone special – you don’t want to buy them something random just for the sake of it. It’s nice to put some thought and effort into the sort of gifts we’re buying for people and having a big range of different types of gifts to choose from is really important.

Mother’s Day shopping doesn’t have to be stressful when you’re shopping in the right place. Very.co.uk have a great range of gifts to suit every Mum from jewellery, clothes and pyjamas to chocolate, beauty and experience gifts. Whatever her hobbies and interests, you’ll likely find the perfect gift.

So if you’re struggling for ideas this year, let’s look at some thoughtful gifts to give this Mother’s Day, including some fantastic pieces from Very.co.uk which I’ll be gifting my own Mum this March!

5 thoughtful gifts to give this Mother’s Day

Gift her a memory she won’t forget

I’m a big fan of experience gifts these days. In fact, my husband and I don’t buy each other physical presents any more as we’d much rather make a memory and do something nice together. Which can certainly apply to Mother’s Day too. Perhaps book a special spa day or an afternoon tea? Or arrange to go shopping together and allow her to pick out something we wants as a gift then finishing up with a delicious lunch?

Cosy gifts always hit the spot

I can’t speak for everyone’s Mum but I know that mine loves a pair of slippers. I can pretty much never go wrong with slippers because they’re something she always wears and wears through quite quickly (I’m the same – like mother like daughter!) And the good thing now that I’m older and earn more money is that I can really treat her to a nice pair of women’s slippers that are going to be cosy, soft, comfortable and supportive.

Can’t decide? Go for a hamper

I love hampers and I think they’re a really thoughtful gift to give someone. They’re also a brilliant option when you can’t really decide what you want to give. There are so many types of hampers to choose from; beauty hampers, food hampers, homeware hampers – or a bit of both. I love this little Yankee Candle and Ferrero Rocher bouquet I picked up from Very.

Say it with a scent

Another gift that I find you can’t often go wrong with is perfume. My mum has always loved perfume and we’ve always bought each other perfume for Christmas, birthday’s and Mother’s Day for as long as I can remember. I know her favourite selection of women’s perfume but it’s always nice to try something new as well and discover new signature scents.

Give the gift of self-care

The final thoughtful gift which I know most busy and hard-working mum’s would truly appreciate is the gift of self care. Whether it’s a massage, a well needed facial or her nails need a little bit of TLC, giving her this sort of gift which will allow for some time to herself is going to be well appreciated.

I know Mother’s Day isn’t for everyone and lots of people find this holiday triggering. If that is you, I am sorry and I hope you find a way to manage it and take care of yourself whilst the celebrations are going on.

But if you are someone that celebrates Mother’s Day, I hope this has given you some ideas of how to thoughtfully treat your mum or mother figure in your life this year! If 2025 taught us anything it’s that the years are moving QUICKLY so you might as well appreciate your loved ones and take any excuse to make them feel loved.

If you’re a Mum, what sort of gives do you prefer to receive on Mother’s Day?
