Hi everyone! Welcome to my April book and ‘bookish things’ haul. I’ve decided once again to not only share the books I received but the book related stuff too! I know we still have a few days of April left so anything else that arrives will go into next months haul. I hope you’ve all had a good month and had a nice Easter weekend! This month has been up and down for me but on the blog front, it’s been pretty good! I launched my touring business earlier this month, you can read all about it here. I also hit my highest ever number of page views with my discussion about erotica and 50 Shades which was pretty cool! (You can read that post here). Anyway, enough chit chat, enjoy the haul!
I was extremely lucky with giveaways this month and actually won four! One of the books hasn’t arrived yet but the others are pictured above. I won Half Bad from Laura’s giveaway which she ran along with her review of the book. If you read her review, you’ll notice she has nothing but good things to say about it, so I’m super excited to read this one! I won Will Grayson, Will Grayson from Sophie from Reviewed the Book and I am a big John Green fan and have been after this book for ages so you can imagine my excitement when it arrived in the post. My lovely friends at This Chick Reads gifted me her copy of The Perfect Match by Katie Fford as the giveaway was UK only and she lives outside the UK which I though was so nice of her, so thank you!
Earlier this month, I took part in a blog tour for Georgina Troy’s new novel ‘A Jersey Affair’ (you can read my review here) and Georgina very kindly sent me a signed paperback copy of the book as a thank you for the review. I was absolutely chuffed because I thought the book was fantastic so I highly recommend you get yourself a copy!
A book haul wouldn’t be a book haul without the mention of our new favourite website Bookbridgr would it? Unlike last month when I went crazy on the site, I only requested 2 this month. The first was Deep Blue Sea by Tasmina Perry which I loved the sound of and I fell in love instantly with the front cover! It makes me want to go on holiday! The second was The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith which I have heard countless good things about so I’m looking forward to giving it a go myself.
Over the past few weeks I’ve heard a lot of people talk about a book called The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer and after reading what it’s about, I very much suspect that it’s the kind of book I’d like. After announcing on Twitter that I wanted to read it, my friend Charlene messaged me and said she would send me her copy as she didn’t really enjoy it which was super nice of her so thank you! She also sent me a copy of the World Book Night book that she received which was Whatever It Takes by Adele Parks. I’ve not previously read any of Adele’s books but I’ve heard they’re pretty damn good?
Lastly, two things that aren’t books but are book related. Early in the month, my boyfriend surprised me by buying these earrings for me with my favourite quote from Oscar Wilde, ‘We’re all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars’ printed underneath. They’re absolutely gorgeous and I found them ages ago on Literary Emporium – an online shop that sells gifts for book lovers. Well last week I was on there again when I came across the necklace pictured below… The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favourite books and films and although I was skint, I couldn’t resist! It’s such a beautiful quote!
So, so, so, so jealous. Sweet little haul you’ve got there.
Also, the earrings and necklace are amazing. Love the Literary Emporium! When in doubt of what to buy a bookworm, go for book-themed jewellery. You can’t go wrong 😉
I love book quote gifts, and those earrings and necklace are gorgeous 🙂
So do I! They seem so much more special don’t they because they actually mean something 🙂
Definitely. I just check out Literary Emporium for the first time and Wow, I want everything!!! 🙂
Ahhh aren’t they beautiful?! They make PERFECT gifts for book lovers! <3
I think I may just end up buying them as gifts for myself! Haha 🙂
Hahah go for it! Treat yourself! I did with the necklace! Seriously, it was like I was possessed, one minute I was just looking at in and the next I was typing in my bank details! I was like, ‘Oh… what happened there?’ 😛
Haha, I just recently did that with this amazing HP t-shirt that says “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” I was like, I am broke but I NEED this top in my life! Best purchase ever! 🙂
Read a few of the books you have this month. I must say I loved Deep Blue sea and I’m sure you will too!
Someone else told me how good that book was as well, I’m looking forward to reading it 🙂
