AD | It’s been a long ol’ time since I did a more casual post like this. Although I love sharing blogging tips, talking about Yoga and advice on self employment, it’s nice to throw all that out and write something fun for a change! And who doesn’t want to win the lottery?
Photo by Stefan Maass on Unsplash
Not that I actively play the lottery and not that my parent’s piddly Lotto draws will make us millionaires. But it’s nice to dream every now and again about what could be. And I’m sure we’ve all dreamed about what we’d do if we won the lottery.
So today I’m going to cry about all the things I can’t afford and what I’d spend my money on if I won the lottery (and I mean like, millions, not a tenner):
Give to charity
Aw, look at me starting all humble and compassionate. I think I’d hate myself forever if I won millions on the lottery and didn’t give anything to charity. If I was in a position to give to someone that needs it, I definitely would (my boyfriend, not so much).
So I think I’d give a bit to an animal charity of some sort as I love animals. A cancer charity because we’re all affected by cancer in some way. And maybe the British Heart Foundation as my Dad had a heart attack last year and bypass surgery this year. He was very lucky but I know there’s so many families who aren’t.
Buy a property abroad
I’ve always loved the idea of having a holiday home. But I think if I won the lottery, I’d really splash out on a lovely property abroad. I’m not a very materialistic person and I don’t tend to “splash out” on physical things like, ever. But a holiday home would provide so many lovely memories along with it.
There’s so many destinations I’d be happy to have a holiday home in. And the properties themselves are out of this world gorgeous! The Callum Swan Realty website definitely has me dreaming big on the type of property I’d buy if I won the lottery!
Book a VIP Formula 1 experience
I love Formula 1 and Motorsport, although I don’t talk about it much (if at all?) on this blog. But it’s one of my biggest passions. I’ve not been to a Formula 1 Grand Prix yet. Partially because the thought of all those crowds makes my anxiety skyrocket. And partially because well, they’re hella expensive.
Which, in the Formula 1 world, is definitely something that needs addressing. But if I won the lottery, I’d definitely buy my boyfriend and I VIP tickets to a Formula 1 event. No expenses spared. Best seats in the house. Access all areas. The nicest and closest hotel. You get the point!
Buy my family the things they need
Although this is point number 4 on the list, it’s probably the first thing I’d do if I won the lottery. Sort everyone else out first and then think about what I want. I think that’s kinda in my nature anyway. Despite having never won the lottery (or any amount of money) before.
So I’d pay off any debt my parents might be in. I’d buy them a new car and a new house (if they wanted one). And if not, I’d buy whatever new items they need for the current house. And I’d also buy my boyfriend the car of his dreams. He loves cars so I know he’d be over the moon.
Go to Disneyland Paris
Let’s end on the most basic thing ever shall we? Basic or not, I love Disneyland Paris. Although I’ve been multiple times before, I’d definitely use some of my lottery winnings to book a holiday to Disneyland Paris and similarly to the Formula 1 point, I’d go bigger than ever before.
So that definitely means staying in the Disneyland Hotel and booking dinner in all the best restaurants and just having a holiday where money is no object. Like I said, I’m not a materialistic person. But I’d love to go on holiday somewhere I love and know that I can have all the experiences I want because I don’t have to worry about money.
Now it’s your turn! What would you buy or spend your money on if you won the lottery? Nothing is off limits! Let me know in the comments!

If I Won the Lottery…
If I won the lottery, First, I would like to travel around the world and meet many countries where I can learn many important things like new language, different cultures and the most important reason, I think, how you can increase your knowledge when you travel. You never imagine it.
The second would be how I can help many people around the world, and generate many Job sources, and find that a lot of people want to work and earn much money.
Of Course, While I travel and help people, I would like to study about the business and IT, because I think, To study is the best thing for me.
I love this post! if I ever win the lottery i would invest some for sure! Donating to Saint Judes i would do also! I would buy my parents a place they can retire In anywhere they wished. Along with taking a much needed family vacation away to another country! For myself i would use some money to start a small business. Also if you would like check out my blog! I would love feedback im very new to blogging! Will be looking at your blogging tips post!
I have plenty of blogging tips posts!
Honestly, I tell people I’d be all humble and giving money away to charity (which I would, don’t get me wrong), but the absolute first thing I’d do is book a luxury holiday in the Caribbean haha! My selfish streak would rear its head, I know it would!
Beth x Adventure & Anxiety
Hahaha not selfish I don’t think! It’s your money, do what you damn well want 😉
This is SUCH a fun blog post idea! And one I’ve thought about numerous time even though I’ve never played the lottery, though I do enter a fair amount of contests (kind of the same, but not really?). Hmm… for me, I’d give money to my family, save money for myself and maybe invest (so grown up!), buy a house, and buy a cottage in the English countryside (aka my dream house). Ugh, so much fun to think about! It’s as if my Pinterest boards will have come to life… 😉
Such a great post idea! I loved reading it! And I’ve always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris! I’ve always wanted to visit all the Disney parks around the world, too.
Emily | https://www.thatweirdgirllife.com
Visiting all the Disney parks would be amazing!
I litve how yours are mainly nice things for other people to enjoy too and my first thought when I read the title was ‘open a restaurant’. And the second was ‘Wimbledon tickets’. Probably a good thing I don’t play really 😂 X

Opening your own restaurant would be amazing! I’ve been to Wimbledon! You’d definitely need to have won the lottery if you wanted to buy anything there… SO expensive!
I’d invest in a business, so my money came back, fund some hospitals too. Some schools and libraries for my local area. And of course help out family, and buy a small home. And definitely travel and see the world
Sounds like amazing ideas!
Because we are blessed with everything we need, I’d start a place where kids could come after school to learn to cook and take what they make home. https://littleblackdomicile.com
Sounds like a nice idea x
Oh gosh, so many things I’d love to do! First thing I’d do is to buy a really nice bungalow so I’m not stuck away from everyone upstairs and can be with my family more. 🙂 I’d also love to make life easier for my mum too and my children. I’d also buy a car that is wheelchair friendly so I can actually get to hospital appointments without having to rely on friends to take me. 🙂

Sounds like very sensible things!
I’ve got so many plans for if I win the lottery, here’s to hoping!

The Curvaceous Vegan
Fingers crossed for all of us haha!
Definitely with you on the buying a holiday home abroad thing! I’d make it my full time home though, and I’d also pack everything in and travel all over the world for a year.
I think I’d still like to live here because then it’d be more of a holiday and more special when I actually visited the holiday home!
This certainly is a fun post and makes me dream about what I would do if I won the lottery! I think giving to charity and sorting out the family are very important. Health is so important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not healthy then what is the point. So I would get everyone a full check up and if they need anything get them sorted out. And animals of course cannot really fend for themselves and need our help as we are destroying their habitat, food chain etc. So supporting an animal charity is a great idea! By the way, I have nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award as I really enjoy your posts and all the variety. If you want to accept here us the link: theworldofcruiseandtravel.wordpress.com/2019/07/31/mystery-blogger-award-my-first-ever-nomination/
All really great points. Having the money to do so would seriously help. And thanks so much for the nomination! x
I would definitely give money to charity, book a holiday as I haven’t been abroad for years and buy my own house! xx
Lucy | http://www.lucymary.co.uk
Sounds perfect!
I love this! Omg what wouldn’t I do?!
I’d buy a house in the south of France, donate to a few charities, buy another property somewhere and rent it out and go on a 2 month long tour of the United States!
I would travel the world and go back to university to do a PhD.
oooh I have quite a list if I won the lottery. I’d definitely give some money to my parents and brother & sisters, I’d buy my own house for sure, and probably get a car for me and my boyfriend to share. I’m not really too sure what else I’d spend it on, I’ve always wanted to start my own business so that would definitely help!

I would buy a bigger house and go on holiday to america xx
Sounds like a good idea x
Love the things you’d do with your winnings.
I’d also donate a lot to animal charity’s as I feel they never have enough and I love animals.
https://littlemissmelanie.com/
Agreed, they could definitely do with more!
I would definitely book myself a nice holiday to Disneyland as well!! That’s a wonderful post
Yay! Great choice!
This post is SO fun!! I loved reading what you’d do! I would definitely but a property abroad, too! Travel is an ultimate reboot for me (and my hubby). And I love the “helping my families needs” pick, too! So many amazing things I can think of that I would do! It’s cool to think about.
Xx, Morgs*
It sure is… we can dream!
Oh man, I know there are so many opportunities that open when you win the lottery! I would totally do a lot of the things you’ve listed, like give to charity. I mean, there are so much money – if you know how to budget right, everyone can win. I know for sure I want to donate and live a little, hehe!
Nancy ♥ exquisitely.me
Absolutely! If you have the means to give to others I don’t see why you wouldn’t!
I would travel! Definitely buy a house abroad somewhere, like South America or New Zealand. This was such a fun post to read!
Sounds like a great choice!
Love your goals for what you would do if you won the lottery! My ideals would look akin to yours but I do not know that I would buy a house but I would do a heck of a lot of traveling! There are so many places I want to visit.
I’d do the same too!
Aww I love your answer to this question – so thoughtful and reasonable! Honestly I would do much of the same. I would pay off my parents house, give money to family and friends, buy a house, and invest the rest so I could live off it.
Investing it sounds like a great idea – very smart!
I really enjoyed this post, to be honest I think I’d mostly do the same, I really want to give my family a better life and I really want to buy a property abroad would make for some amazing holidays x
Kayleigh Zara 🌿 http://www.kayleighzaraa.com
I’d love to be able to provide my family with a better life too x
I loooooved reading this and imagining what I would do if I won enough money to be comfortable!! The dream!
Rosie
We can dream!
This is so cute! I totally agree with the giving some to charity and also making sure that my family have everything they need. As a massive theatre nerd, I’d definitely blow a lot of it on a trip to New York and a chance to see all the Broadway shows I possibly could!
Jas xx | https://thoughtsfromjasmine.co.uk
That’d be perfect for you!
This was a fun post, I’m glad you decided to write it! I agree with a lot of your points, actually. Some would have to go to charity (probably to a homeless charity and maybe a women’s shelter too), and I would likely buy myself a house outright too – imagine being able to do that! I’d love to give a tonne to arts projects too, ones that couldn’t get funding elsewhere (I have a lot of arty friends – theatre, visual art, film, you name it). It’s fun to think about, unlikely as it is 🙂
It sure is fun to think about!
I think I would aim to give at least 20% of it to charity, I’d pay off my parents house for them, pay for my college tuition and set up funds for my sister & brother’s future tuition, and I’d 100% buy a house on the Central Coast of CA because that’s where I wanna be when I’m all grown :’) This was such a fun post!!
Sounds like you got it all worked out!
What a fun post! I would definitely give a portion to charities, buy a vacation home, and invest the rest for the future!
Investing it sounds like a smart idea!
I just had to follow the link to Calum Swan properties didn’t I, oh dear, beach lifestyle for me, but I would love to live in Portugal for the Winter, or Lapland and Embo, Sutherland, Scotland for the rest of the year.
Haha makes you sick doesn’t it! I’d love to go to Lapland!
Always wanted to go and I will someday. xxx
After I take care of the necessary ‘responsible’ things like paying off debts/bills, giving to my favourite charities and taking care of the family a bit, my husband and I would purchase an older camper van, fix it all up the way we want with our aesthetic and then go on a big 6 month + trip driving across Canada and the US.
Sounds amazing!
I think the first thing I’d do would be to pay off my uni debt and buy a house x
Sounds like a smart idea x
I’d definitely be booking a holiday to Disneyland too! I’ve always wanted to go and it would be the perfect way to celebrate xx
Tiffany x http://www.foodandotherloves.co.uk
Awh hope you get to go anyway!
Boring comment alert, lol: I would open a nice, healthy, compounding interest account.
Haha! Or smart comment alert 😉
LOVE that you’d give to charity! I’d do that too. I’ve thought of starting a foundation too if for some reason I won the lottery. A holiday home would be lovely, I’ve just always been too afraid to be on an airplane. I’d probably buy a cabin though. It’s fun to think of how we’d spend large amounts of money!!
Awh starting a foundation would be amazing!
I LOVE the idea of this post. Such a good post!!
Thank you 🙂
Disneyland is definitely high up on my list! Like you, I’d also give some to charity – one for animals, one for mental health, one for cancer and one for OCD. I’d definitely buy a new car just because I’ve never owned a brand new one before! I’d probably also buy my Mum a house and a few pressies for the rest of my family. It’s also a bit weird but I genuinely would like to get myself some kick-ass therapy to sort out my mental health. I know that sort of thing takes a long time and it won’t necessarily cure it, but if money were no object I could take as much time as I needed without worrying that I can only afford so much or I only have x amount of sessions left. I think I’d of course gave to go on an epic holiday too – or several! Great post! Xx
Oh my god no I totally agree. If I had all the money I’d go to the best therapists in the UK and sort my anxiety out!
Love these ideas – especially the Formula 1 one, as I don’t think many people would pick that!
I’m not entirely sure what I would do but I know that I would begin with travelling around the world (but not luxuriously, as I would want to experience the real thing). Some of my number one places would be Costa Rica, Brazil and Kenya though!
Great choices!
That’s a good one. I’ll travel a lot. Will also give to charity and family. Would probably buy a house in a bucolic place and will step up my eco fashion business to empower women. https://www.daisyandthyme.com/thyme-to-dress-up-natural-beauty-shampoo-bar/
Setting up a business would be an amazing thing to do with the money!
I love Disneyland Paris too! I’d want to travel around too and I’d give some to charity as well as buying a house and car!

Good choices!
I always dream about this!
I’d buy a house and a holiday home and make sure my family and friends are looked after 😊
After that I’d hire a financial advisor.

Oooh very smart of you!
So funny last night after working over 12 hours in a shift I went and bought a lottery ticket so for me it wouldn’t be the very first thing I’d buy it would be just the capability to relax not work so hard and then eventually travel but before I took out for my travels and make sure that my parents and my husband’s mom and someone to help them out in the day-to-day stuff
Sounds like smart investments!
My husband would totally agree with the F1 VIP experience. It must be something special!
https://rogueandrouge.org/2019/07/30/how-to-boost-your-self-confidence-this-summer/
I bet it’s amazing!
Lately most of my lottery fantasies have been house related! I’d get our roof redone, our drive paved, our fence replaced and our bedroom decorated with new fitted wardrobes. I’d pay off the mortgage! If I won loads and loads, I’d like to try and set up a proper homeless shelter in my town, with access to medical support and training to help people get into jobs and back into independence. They only run shelters over winter here and they’re very basic, so it would be great to have something actually functional.
Well it all depends on how much you win doesn’t it so let’s go with tonight’s Euro Millions jackpot, it’s £32m which is a very tidy sum.
Firstly like you I’d sort out my family, which includes my wife, my parents, her parents, my sister and her two children, my brother, his wife and their daughter (my brother also has two estranged children which I’d look to do something for) and my wife’s sister so that adds up to 11 people. I’d pay off all their mortgages and debts and set up trust funds for the children, I figure that would take about 2 million which would leave me with £30m.
I’m currently in the process of selling my current home and my wife and I are looking for somewhere new to live. If I won the lottery those things wouldn’t change but the type and size of house might change. I might not even sell my current home, maybe just pay off the mortgage and then see. I’d really like to design and build my own home so maybe that’s the project I use the money on. I don’t however thing I’d spend too much on that so let’s say I spend budget £10m on the new home and paying off my old mortgage.
I’d then like to spend some money on research into plant based medicines, in the UK we are quite behind the curve in these types of studies due to the legality status on these plants. Considering that the US, Canada and Portugal have changed the legal status of these substances yet they are consider illegal substances is something I feel needs to change.
I’d also give money to charities that deal with Mental Health, Cancer and wildlife protection.
Finally I love to travel so I spend a huge chunk of the money visiting countries I haven’t been to before, I’d love to try and visit as many countries as I possibly can before I get to old.
That sounds amazing x
Your dream sound amazing.
when i win i share it with my family and start my online business. Definitely, vist NewYork and malds.
Sounds great!
Close family friends of ours actually freaken did it. $1.7 MILLION!!!!! Oh my God I will never forget it, they were struggling at the time and we were all so,so excited for them.
Holy shit!!!!
Seriously. It was wild. I was staying at my parents place and I got up in the morning and Dad said, “Your Mum’s got something to tell you”, and I said, “what?” he says, “go ask your Mum. So Mum was still in bed and I go in and say, “dad says you have some news?” and she goes, “XXXXXX and YYYYY won one point seven million dollars last night”, WHHHHHAT. seriously, this wasn’t a friend of a friend down the road this is people we knew very well and it was so happy and exciting for them!!”
Buy a property abroad! Now that would be good!
Would be amazing!
Love reading this Jenny! It’s good to write these things down, even if it’s just for fun – because it shows what you dream of 😀 I totally agree with the charity point, if you have so much money, why not give some away to people/orginizations that need it!
Personally, I’d probably also buy an appartment in Manchester, help my boyfriend set up the studio he’s been dreaming of for years and (boooooring) probably invest the rest (after a sick-ass holiday hahah!)
Not boring – very smart!
