ad // In my opinion, you’re never too old for a sleepover. You’re also certainly never too old to acknowledge the wonderful female friendships in your life and spend some dedicated quality time with each other whereby you can show them how much they mean to you! Valentine’s Day is never just about romantic love – which is why I love the concept of Galentine’s Day too!

Despite what the actual definition of a Galentine’s Day is (I don’t actually know), I don’t think it matters whether you’re in a relationship or single in order to dedicate some time to your girls this Valentine’s Day. Your girl friends are such an important part of your life and that love definitely needs celebrating just as much as your romantic relationships! You could even go as far as getting each other gifts, like friendship rings.

I had a sleepover last year with one of my closest friends. It wasn’t for Galentine’s Day – just a random Friday night neither of us where doing anything so we decided on a sleepover, movies and a Domino’s pizza and chatted the night away. And it was genuinely such a great night! Despite her crazy cat trying to eat your toes every 10 minutes.

Although sleepovers in your 20’s certainly look a little different to those you had when you were a kid or in your teens, they’re still SUPER fun if you get the chance to do them and Galentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity this year. So here are 11 tips for the best Galentine’s Day sleepover!

Both bring something to the table

Ensure that all of you are bringing something to the sleepover. Perhaps one is in charge of snacks, the other in charge of drinks etc. But don’t leave it all up to the host or the person who’s house you’re staying round.

Treat yourself to some good food

A good sleepover means good food, so this is a perfect time to all treat yourself to a yummy takeaway! All pitch in and order a bunch of grub to share whilst watching a good film.

Comfort is king!

Sleepovers are so much better when you’re super comfortable. If you’re the host of an upcoming Galentine’s Day sleepover and your bed isn’t that comfortable you might want to invest in a new bed. Ottoman beds are especially useful as they contain so much storage space that they leave your bedroom tidier too.

Don’t be afraid to act like a kid again

Look, girls like to mess about when they’re alone. At least, I do! Blanket forts, stupid games, laughing until you piss yourself – just let go for the evening and don’t be afraid to act like a goof with your gal pals.

Coziness goes a long way

Before settling into bed for the evening, you’re going to want to be as cozy as possible. So pajamas, fluffy socks, slippers, blankets and hot water bottles are a great way to do that throughout the night! If you want to have the best pajamas in town make sure to check high quality silk pajamas that can be found by visiting their website here.

Open up

A sleepover is a great chance to have a proper catch up with your girls and usually a catch up involves opening up about your life and what’s going on in it. Sometimes this is the only chance we get to truly open up in months – so use it, even if you’re going through a hard time.

Have a range of movie options, depending on the mood

Obviously we’re never short of movie options these days with the likes of Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and more but read the mood and choose your movies accordingly. There should be something for everyone!

Find a fun activity or two

If you want something else to do during your sleepover evening, why not think of some fun activities? You might find some games to play, cook dinner together (instead of a takeaway), dance, you name it!

Snacks galore

Chances are you’ll be staying up fairly late, so snacks are a must-have for when you get peckish at midnight! Stock up on snacks and leave them in a convenient place for everyone to help themselves to.

Put away your phone (unless it’s for selfies!)

This quality time doesn’t need to be documented. Unless of course you want a couple of nice selfies, put your phones away and really dedicate this time to each other. Too much of our lives are spent looking down at our phones anyway.

What’s said at your Galentine’s sleepover, stays at your Galentine’s sleepover

And finally, all understand between yourselves that whatever has been said at this sleepover, stays at the sleepover. Late night chats can get very honest and real and raw, with a lot of stuff that we probably don’t want shared. We should all respect that.

When was the last time you had a sleepover? What do you like to do with your girl friends? Let me know!
