ad // I don’t currently have my own home and whilst it’s certainly not something I’m proud of at the age of 29, I do understand that a lot of factors have contributed towards being in this place in my life. I’m not going to get into that in this post but instead I want to talk about some plans I have for when I finally do have my own place to do what I want with!
I can’t wait to have my own place and to be able to decorate it however I like. I’ve redecorated my bedroom at my parents house a number of times over the years, the last was in around 2018, when my partner went away for a week so I decided to have a re-vamp.
I chose a light blue wall with dark blue bedding as well as cream blinds and I loved it at the time but the fact is, our room is such a mess right now, that nothing really looks good. So I doubt I would ever try and re-vamp my current room again.
But when we have our own place with more room, I will put much more focus and emphasis on our bedroom (and all rooms, really!) to make them homely and exactly how we like them.
But for now, your girl is dreaming and taking inspiration from Instagram home accounts and Pinterest. Here are a few things I’d love to have in my future bedroom:
King-sized bed
I mean, I’m not sure if realistically I’ll end up with a king-sized bed but I am hoping for a bigger bed than I currently have now! But a girl can dream and for the sake of this post, I’d love to have a bedroom big enough for a beautiful king-sized bed! That’s the plan anyway.
Larger wardrobes
Right now, my wardrobe is about 3 times too small for both mine and my partner’s clothing and shoes. Neither of us own that many items of clothing but the space we have is just ridiculously small. A lovely wardrobe with dedicated space for each of us would be a dream in my own place, with made to measure cupboards perhaps.
Little to no clutter
I hate clutter and if you’ve read my blog for long enough, you’ll have seen me write a lot of content around de-cluttering. Our bedroom right now has FAR too much clutter in it and it really stresses me out. However, as much as I can tidy up and de-clutter but own items, there’s only SO MUCH I can do right now. So when I have my own place, clutter will be kept at a minimum!
Beautiful hard-wood flooring
I love a hard-wood floor and there are so many beautiful types of wood that’s available, depending on the theme of your bedroom. A solid wood floor can transform a bedroom and I definitely think I’d prefer that over carpet in my bedroom.
A reading nook
Again, a girl can dream. You know me, I love books, so I think a cute little reading nook in my dream bedroom with a really cosy chair, a soft lighting lamp and a bookcase would be heavenly. I’d sit there in the morning, with a cup of tea and read my book in peace.
A feature wall
I love feature walls in bedroom, I think they give such depth and texture to a room. I’d love the wall behind the bed to be a different colour to the rest, or perhaps feature a beautiful wallpaper, to really brighten up the room and make it pop.
So whether you’re going for a full bedroom revamp or are just looking for some new bits to spruce up an old bedroom that needs a little TLC, I hope these points gave you some ideas. You can see here for inspiration for walk-in wardrobes and dressing rooms.
