ad collaborative post // A good content strategy can drive up your online earnings. When your content is relevant, compelling and targeted to a particular audience, it will help you to stand out from other content creators. Churning out dull, generic content will hurt your brand. High-performing content will put you in the best position to see tangible results from your efforts.

Trigger curiosity

You need to entice people to consume your content, and one of the ways to do this is to trigger their curiosity. When you have their attention, they will be more receptive to your message. A hook at the start of your content isn’t enough, as attention will quickly wander if you don’t follow up on it.

Aim to keep hitting consumers with visuals and bold statements throughout your content. If you want your content to convert, include hooks that make promises but make sure you deliver value. Value adding revenue streams for content creators abound, but they only succeed if people feel compelled to consume the content.

Tell impactful stories

Your aim may be to convert consumers into customers, but you won’t do that unless you view them as human beings and not as a market. Humans tend to act on feelings and emotions, and storytelling can help you to reach them. Stories can help you to take people to where you want them to be in a way that on-the-nose marketing can’t.

By creating a visceral reaction in consumers, they become more invested in your content, and you benefit from making them feel a certain way. They are more likely to buy a product immediately or in the future when they love your brand story

Test out different strategies

What works for one person and one brand may not work for another. Results will depend on the industry, your audience, the demand, the channels you use and your timing. This is why it is important to try out different strategies. Share content on different channels and test engagement through different types of media like infographics, polls, or live streams. You need to discover by trial and error what works well and what doesn’t.

Keep your customers in mind

If you want to create content that converts, your audience must be front and center in what you create. Interview them, get feedback and analyze the data. Which content achieves the most engagement? Which channels work best? If consumers aren’t converting, you need to figure out why.

Then you can market strategically to overcome their reluctance to buy. You won’t sell if you don’t know what customers want. Show that you genuinely care about them and don’t just want to get money out of them. You need to build trust if you want consumers to buy from you.

Teach something

Educational blogs are some of the most popular ones out there. Start small and choose a niche topic. Instead of writing about website design, teach how to design a landing page for a specific type of business:

  • Use short sentences and paragraphs to make your content easier to follow.
  • Avoid technical terms and jargon.
  • Use examples to make information easier to understand.
  • Make directions simple, and don’t skip any steps.

Create a series of posts

Creating a series of posts allows you to fully explore a topic without trying to cram it all into one piece of content. A series is useful for helping you to build internal and external links. It also helps to establish you as an expert on a topic and gives your audience something to look forward to. You can also turn a blog series into other content forms, such as an eBook, videos or podcasts.

Get into podcasting

Podcasts have a big audience, and this is a form of content worth exploring. Both educational and storytelling podcasts are popular. A podcast usually centers on an idea and expands on that topic with feedback from listeners.

Choosing the right topics will allow you to create evergreen podcasts that listeners can tune in to years after you created them. Contests and giveaways are fun ways to get podcast listeners to participate and help you to grow your subscriber list.

Do you do any of these things to make money whilst creating content?
