ad | With your skin being the largest organ on your body, it’s very important we look after it. Yet, somehow, we don’t put as much emphasis sometimes on looking after our skin health as we do say, our heart health. We’ll go for a run but won’t wear sun screen. We’ll go for a cervical screening test but ignore that changing mole. It’s weird and definitely needs to change.

Which I think it has been changing over the years and I believe we’re more in tune with our skin and how to look after it effectively now more than ever. When my Mum was a young woman, using sun beds was a completely normal part of your beauty routine.

These days, most people won’t go near them! At least, I certainly wouldn’t and I don’t know anyone who uses a sun bed personally.

Skincare is such an important part of your daily self-care routine and it’s definitely something I’m paying more attention to now that I’m getting older.

I’ve always liked skincare and using new products. I’ve always had some sort of skincare routine but the way I looked after my skin as a teenager is very different to how I’m looking after my skin now, as a 30 year old woman.

Today I want to talk about how I’m looking after my skin in my 30’s as well as a great brand that you will definitely want to check out for yourself.

How I’m Looking After My Skin As I’m Getting Older

I’m paying more attention to the products I’m using

As well as trying to use more cruelty-free and vegan skincare (which, in my teens and early 20’s, I had no inclination of doing), I’m also paying more attention to the ingredients in my skincare and the specific products I’m using.

It’s been a longgggg time since I used face wipes, they’ve been removed from my skincare routine for a good while but definitely as I’m getting older, I’m becoming more in tune with what my skin needs and the effects certain products and ingredients has on it.

Introducing Depology: Who Are They?

“Depology started with the introduction of our Korean micro-needle eye patches to the western market; we now offer a full suite of skincare products that are both science-backed and naturally derived to address clients’ most pressing skincare needs.

Our founding team is mainly from Seoul and was raised with the K-beauty mindset. We felt that K-Beauty’s ground-breaking technological advances and deep-rooted anti-aging philosophy was something we could incorporate into our products and introduce to more people around the world.”

K-Beauty skincare brand Depology, who combine science and nature to create their fantastic products are the feature of today’s post and for anyone who’s looking for targeted skincare with top-notch ingredients, then these are definitely one to check out.

I was sent two of their products to try, the DepologyPeptide Complex 10% Serum formulated with Argireline™ peptide serum and the Matrixyl 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum, both of which I was looking forward to using as I’m a bit fan of serums anyway!

Matrixyl 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum

The Matrixyl 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum is one I was keen to get started with because we all know that as we age, our bodies product less collagen, therefore leaving it thinner, drier and less elastic which can lead to sagging and wrinkles.

Not that there’s anything wrong with wrinkles of course but it’s nice to have options to give your skin a little helping hand in the collagen department!

This serum is formulated to hydrate the skin and reduce signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles and they recommend using the product consistently twice a day for maximum results.

Full ingredients for the Matrixyl 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum:

Water(Aqua), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trehalose, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Allantoin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Collagen Extract, Glyceryl Glucoside, Pullulan, Fructooligosaccharides, Beta-Glucan, Maltodextrin, Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Xanthan Gum.

What have customers been saying?

  • 94% said they found better results when using the serum together with the Depology Deepcare+ Serum-Infused Micro Dart Patches than the serum alone
  • However, said the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles reduced after 3 months of consistent use
  • 89% would recommend this product to micro-dart patch users and would purchase again

What are the Depology Deepcare+ Serum-Infused Micro Dart Patches?

The Deepcare+Serum-Infuenced Mirco Dart Patches are an excellent alternative to injectables and a great addition to your skincare routine. Similar to the serum, they’re intended to hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles but with more intensity than using the serum alone.

They go beyond the surface of your skin, 1000 micro darts, infused with 30mg of our Deepcare+ serum per patch, to penetrate deep into your skin and also help give it a more plump and youthful look.

The Micro Dart Patches are perfect for anyone that wants to effects of injectables but in a safer and easier way, with zero downtime and zero pain, from the comfort of your own home.

Full ingredients in the Depology Deepcare+ Serum-Infused Micro Dart Patches:

Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide, Madecassoside, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Copper, Tripeptide-1, Acetyle Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Anemarrhena Asphodeloides, Root Extract.

Depology Peptide Complex 10% Serum formulated with Argireline™ peptide

The second serum I was sent was the Depology Argireline™ peptide Serum, another star product from Depology that is used to prevent muscle movement that forms the wrinkles in the first place. This serum also has wrinkle-reducing properties and promotes moisture in the skin. According to tests:

  • Wrinkle depth was reduced by -7.22% after 28 days
  • Skin hydration levels were boosted by 45.68% after 28 days

Those are some pretty impressive statistics. Which, given the incredible ingredients in this serum, isn’t surprising. This serum also works most optimally in conjunction with the Matrixyl 3000 serum, for best results.

Whilst a lot of products will claim to combat wrinkles, the Depology Argireline™ peptide Serum also has preventative properties, which stop the wrinkles forming in the first place. Definitely a first for me, when it comes to skincare.

Full ingredients list for Argireline™ peptide Serum:

Water, Isopentyldiol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Ceramide NP, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Tocopherol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid Polypeptide, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Octyldodeceth-16, Ethylhexylglycerin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Pinus Strobus Bark Extract, Hexapeptide-9, Maltodextrin, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Linalool

Can you use both serums together?

Yes you can use both serums together within your skincare routine! After cleansing and before moisturizer, peptide pairing is a popular way to get the most out of your serums and the benefuts of them!

Using both will complement each other’s effects and provide a more comprehensive anti-aging approach. Matrixyl takes care of your overall skin structure and reducing the appearance of wrinkles, while Argireline™ targets specific areas where wrinkles tend to form.

And luckily, Depology offer their Peptide Duo Serum bundle, so you can purchase both and get started with your peptide pairing!

What did I think of the Depology Argireline™ peptide Serum and the Matrixyl 3000 Serum?

Well honestly, I love a serum anyway, so I was really keen to start using these as I generally love the feel of putting a serum on your face and it’s definitely my favourite step in my skincare routine.

They both felt more or less the same when it came to application. Both serums absorbed well into the skin – which is a must for me, especially in the morning when I’m usually in a rush! – and left my skin feeling very soft and nourished afterwards.

I’m yet to use them for longer than a month, so it wouldn’t be fair of me to give any results as of it but for the most part, I feel like my skin in general is looking a bit more awake, a bit more lively and a bit less tired all around. Which is good because right now, I’m very tired.

If you’re looking for cruelty-free skincare that combines science with their methodology of creating their products to product ingredient rich products that give similar results as injectables, then I’d definitely recommend checking out Depology!

How I’m Looking After My Skin Now I’m Getting Older Continued…

I’m making skincare a more important part of my life

Self care is a big part of my life, I’m always striving to enhance my own self care and be authentic with my self care so I know I’m giving my mind, body and spirit what it needs at any given time.

And skincare is a fantastic self-care tool which not only has a physical benefit – but a mental one too. Taking that time at the beginning and the end of the day to spend 15 minutes treating your skin is the perfect boost you need.

I’m using products more suited to my skin

It wasn’t until my late 20’s when I realised that it might actually be worth using products that are suited to my skin type. Who knew? I discovered a range of products which were designed for 20’s skin, which I really enjoyed using for a while.

Since then I’m not just picking up products willy-nilly, just because they smell nice or have nice packaging. I’m taking the time to consider whether my skin actually needs it or not.

I’m prioritizing SPF in my skincare routine

SPF is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of any skincare routine and I’ll never know why I didn’t use it sooner. I incorporate SPF into my skincare routine by using a moisturizer with SPF in in.

My current one is SPF 30, which is brilliant. I’ll never go out without it on and never leave that step out of my routine either.

I’m checking my skin more regularly

And onto the more serious side of skincare and that’s checking your skin for any changes. Like you should check your breasts every month for changes, it’s vital you do that for your skin as well.

You have a LOT of skin. A lot of potential for something to not be quite right which, although sounds a bit scare-mongery, is very true. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK, it’s sensible to check your skin every month as well.

I feel like my journey and relationship with skincare is still ongoing and I guess it would be, through the different stages of my life.

But as of right now, I’m pretty pleased with how I’m looking after my skin and the products I’m deciding to use. And I remain excited about skincare, especially discovering new products and brands, like Depology!

How are you looking after your skin? Did you reach a certain age and start changing how you took care of your skin?

  1. As I’m getting older, I’ve learned a lot about taking care of my sensitive skin. It’s been five years since I made skincare an important part of my daily routine. I also use products that are suitable for my skin type and apply SPF as part of my morning routine. I agree with you about the importance of regularly checking my skin, as my lifestyle can impact its condition, including the food I consume and my sleeping schedule 🙂

  2. I haven’t heard of Depology before, but their serums sound fantastic, and that’s great they’re cruelty-free and vegan! I completely agree having a skincare routine that is suited for your skin type is important!

  3. I need to check these products out! Thank you for listing the ingredients. I have super sensitive skin and have to ingredient check everything before I buy x

  4. Great Post! I was literally discussing with a friend the other day how funny it was to think that sunbeds were so popular when we were at uni but now we wouldn’t dream of using one!! I’m writing this post sat under a parasol in the shade in Spain covered in factor 30 🤣 checking my skin for mole changes is something I do religiously and I’ve recently had two removed so I’m a big believer of keeping an eye on your skin! I shall check out depology.
